March 2008

I wish I could start to plan for the meals but we are going with friends and they are moving at the end of the month so I am trying not to add pressure to their lives right now.

Maybe I can start to look and check things out once they settle in.

Do you find the restaurants busy during March. This will be our first trip during this time of year.

I've started working on where to eat some early picks are Sci Fi, Coral Reef, Boma, Liberty Tree Tavern, Crystal Palace, and Fultune's Crab House.

ooohh what does it mean when they reach age 10 on the DDP? My oldest will also just have turned 10 (jan 13) :) We did the plan this past time and it was so simple! Especially with the children we just said here are your choices...eat...and sign for the card. Every once in awhile we did leave extra tip $$ but once I really wish I could have taken some away. ;) Those prices are great on your airline tickets....we would be flying out of Indianapolis and I am still seeing around $300.

I too am a TGM fan and was told June 1st it should open up for March :cool1:

A 10 year old is considered an adult on the DDP so it is more money and they get to order from the adult menu (appie, entree, dessert) so I have been looking at the entrees to find places that have things she might enjoy. I know we can ask for things without sauces and such (she's more a plain eater) but I am just looking around to see what menus might have things she would enjoy. I would hate to pay the adult price for her only to have her want to order the kid's meals still all the time.

Chel,

You crack me up with being so dedicated to your planning....and my family things I am extreme.

I think you plans are great. Are you going to do a brunch buffet at all (like Chef Mickey's). I love a good brunch.

I was thinking maybe 1900 Park Fare on our rest day, go late and count it as lunch, or possibly our last morning.

I'm also wondering about Ragland Road on St. Patrick's day, our last full day there. I don't know if my non adventurous eating clan would do all right there. My other maybe is Akershus? :confused3

Rest:lmao: You have rest scheduled in there :rotfl2:

Just kidding. That sounds like a good plan for a "down day" as we like to call them.

Since we are only going for 7 nights and it will have been 2 1/2 years since we were at the parks, there won't be any down days I bet. Plus I am thinking of buying the annual pass and then go back in July of 08 as well for about 10 days...then we would have more of a chance for a down day.

What is your favourite site for checking out all the restaurants. Can you send a link to it?

It's nice to be able to look at the menus ahead of time so I can guesstimate which of my family will struggle with finding something to eat at which places. :rotfl:

It is the same in my house. We went on the Disney cruise and the kids lived on mac and cheese, pizza and chicken fingers.....quite the price for fast food eh! :lmao:

Hi Chel

Not much happening on the planning front today?:surfweb:

I just set up the Magic Express for a friend for there trip in November. Otherwise I am in a holding pattern.

I made a couple t-shirts today with designs from the Creative DISign board below as a trial run for making some for our trip. I'm not sure it's worth the hassle I may just purchase from zazzle again. :confused3 I post pictures later if they turn out.

I say Coral Reef. We ate there in December and the food was really good. The atmosphere was nice too, kids loved watching the fish.

I met with my Mom on Friday to talk about the trip. We decided on California Grill for her birthday dinner. We will try and time the ADR with Wishes. We will be doing Sci Fi for lunch (kids request, I know the food is not that great but they love the idea of eating in a car), trying for Le Cellier again for dinner, Tusker House character breakfast (open by then right?) and Ohana for dinner. I gave my Mom the Kona and Ohana menus and I was kind of hoping for Kona but she chose Ohana. Its all good, we loved Ohana in December, I was just interested in trying Kona. The kids loved the interaction of Ohana and the food is great so we'll enjoy it again I am sure.

June 1st is coming soon and the TGM boards open for us. I can't wait till September when his LCPC should be coming out for March! Then it is serious itinerary time!

Allyson :)

:rotfl2: Now you have me looking at the menus for Kona and Ohana, I hadn't really considered either of them.

I wonder what the character meal at Tusker house is going to be? I had figured Pizzafari for lunch there and then Boma for dinner on our AK day.

I'm partial to Coral Reef for our first night as opposed to Garden Grill just because right now I'm planning on lunch at Crystal Palace the next day and I'd like that to be the first character meal, plus they are both served family style and I'd rather spread that out a bit.

Sci Fi on our list too, we're a burger and milkshake kind of family!

Le Cellier looks like a possiblity and I'm still undecided about Akershus.

It's a little to early for me to start handing out menus and quizzing people on where they want to eat. I'm really trying not to drive my family nuts!:rolleyes1

just found out we are bumping our trip from june '08 to march '08. very nice. anyway, does anyone know what kind of discounts were availalble on rooms for march of the last couple of years? am planning to get 2 rooms at pop or one of the all stars, but am wondering about price since this is "peak" season. family of 7. need all the discounts we can get.

I have not had much luck finding any discounts that time of year since it is school break for a lot of people.

I hope my manange to find something. If not the first week in February is still off season and we use to find good deals at that time of year.

Jo-Anne

am really hoping to find something. our only problem is that we will not pay for our trip/package until mid-january. i guess that might be ok though, b/c if they do have any codes for march they wouldn't come out until about january anyway.

have never stayed onsite before and really are wanting to do so this time. don't want to end up bumping the trip back to june.
