March 20, 2004

So if you want to add more, you either have to do it in cash, in kind (phone cards or something similar), or by going back to guest services? You don't just indicate it on the tickets? Sorry I'm sort of slow understanding this; I'm sure it will be much clearer once we are there, but I don't want to waste any of my precious relaxation and eating time once I'm on board :hyper:

Did ya'll know that according to American Greetings, March 20 is officially "Smile Rejuvination" day? I think that casting off for the tropics is a fine reason for smiling !!!

Bump... we need to be at the top as it is our turn NEXT..

I has gone so fast for the past 2 weeks... now it is our turn..

Everything is confirmed, doc filled out, I am down to the final list of cancel mail, cancel the paper, buy a lime green ribbon for my carry on, wash clothes, pack, get everyone haircuts. I must be forgeting something...??

One week from today, we will be on the MAGIC!!!:teeth: :jumping1:

Yes, we are next :upsidedow !! My DS and I are both getting hair cuts this week. Haven't started to pack as we have been wearing our shorts and t-shirts this last week (weather turned). I'll do up laundry and pack up closer in for the clothes. I have everything else in big rubbermaid tubs and plan to get them in suitcases tonight. We fly out to the UK the day after we get back from the cruise, for a week, so I'm setting aside things for that trip as well. Happy packing everyone! :sunny:

I spent the day packing and thought of a tip. Don't forget to pack clothes for the trip home--especially if you live were it will be a lot colder than Florida. We forgot to pack return clothes one trip, not fun going home in warm weather clothes when it is cold outside!!! Kathy

Speaking of packing warm clothing- does everyone pretty much pack for a cruise this time of year assuming that it will be mid-80s and beautiful, or do you pack some sweaters or heavier clothing?

As always, thanks!

I'm packing as though it will be warm :sunny: . I'm throwing in a few things that can layer as well though, just in case.

Trying to keep our thread at the top, as it is our turn next!

I started packing yesterday! Oh, I cannot believe it is almost here! Funny, though, but I almost don't want it to come. I have spent 18 months saving for and dreaming about this trip. In two short weeks it will all be over, and that depresses me. I am such a freak! LOL.

Cara

We are wearing sweatshirts and blue jeans on the plane on the way to Florida and will wear the same on the way back. That means we will have those in case we need it in Florida when we return from the cruise..

:bounce: :Pinkbounc I have finished the packing process and all luggage is in the living room ready to out the door into the RV. I have to finish up at work on Monday and then the Slings' Family Vacation will have begun....Sun, Sand, warm winds, tropical music....oh but to get there I have to withstand several days in an RV with four fighting excited restless screaming kids! I know it is going to be worth every minute of it. Can't wait to meet all of you.:earsboy: :earsgirl: :sunny:

Magicboundagain4 how long does it take you to get to WDW??
Are you doing a leisurely drive or heading straight without any stops??
We drive from Chicago every year.. but not for the cruise we are flying.. which makes the packing more limited as to what I can take...

Cara, Dave and I are with you on it is depressing that in two weeks it will be over. All the anticipation and then poof the week is over :( . The only cruise I didn't experience that was when Dave surprised me with a 7 day on Celebrity and we left two days after Christmas. There was no time for anticipation and no weeks and weeks of waiting but just panic packing :D . That cruise seemed to last forever, which is a good thing.

I pack for temperatures in the 70's and 80's. In case we need warmer layers we always have our arrival travel clothes and post cruise travel clothes (unless I forget to pack them:p ).

Wouldn't you know, Murphy's law hits again. The day we board the Magic it will be in the 60's here in Des Moines. I want it to be cold here while we enjoy warm temps, I know, sounds mean but in Jan when we cruised it was beautiful here in town and we missed the nice weather!!! When we come back it is suppose to be back in the 50's. That will seem cold to me since I adjust to warm temps fast.

Magicboundagain4, have a safe trip down and we will see you on Sat.

Padre Disney, have a safe drive Wed. to Kansas City and enjoy your 2 days at the World!

Gotta go pack some more. Kathy:cool:

Kathy, I'm sorry you do the same thing, since it is VERY frustrating. However, I guess you and I can just be freaks together, LOL! Looking forward to meeting you.

Cara

I'm sitting here listening to Jimmy Buffet music. DH keeps walking into the room whistling "When You Wish Upon a Star". Can't wait but have the packing to do this week.

Can't wait to meet you all! Only 5 more days!

Denise

I have started the packing process, and have one suitcase out in the living room but........we just discovered after a frantic search that MY big suitcase is in Colorado with our daughter. ARGH ! She graduated from university last spring, on the east coast, and we flew back for graduation, taking many suitcases to bring back home stuff she didn't want at her new job in Colorado. I also had flown to London to see her in April, and we did suitcase juggling there too for me again to bring back to the Staqtes stuff she could not bring with her. So somewhere in one of those juggles, my suitcase remained with her. So to add to my looooong list this week will be an after school dash up the freeway to the next town to Ross to buy a new suitcase. We have no where here to shop, no WalMart, no Target, no nothing....so I'll have to grit my teeth and drive the the half hour.

The thread about "going home" clothes strikes a chord with us big time. We always fly down in jeans and sweat shirts, so we have them in Forida if it gets chilly. But one year we KNEW we were in big trouble when at the airport all the TV's were blasting away with CNN's report of a Washington State blizzard, and we saw pictures of our home town. So we flew into the blizzard of the century, drove the two hours home (took us 7 hours for the two hour drive) in a blinding blizzard, no where to stop, nothing open to shelter in. We finally pulled off the freeway in Bellingham, and my skillful husband got us within 10 blocks of the house...but no farther. He dropped us off at the end of our street, and went back another 8 blocks to find a place to leave the car. Dressed in jeans and sweatshirt and loafers, wrapped in two quilts that happened to be in the back seat, my daughter and I set off. I then knew why people just give up and die when exposed like that. Meg, a STRONG competitive swimmer, was breaking a path through waist high snow. I knew in my heart we would not die because we were in our neighborhood and we could knock on doors......but it was 3 am. I sat down several times and was in shouting arguements with the daughter...it was awful. And we were so worried about Kent, with even longer to go. But we got there, and he got there a bit quicker since we had broken a path.....but then we had to try to get in the house. Our son had flown and driven home 12 hours before us. So we looked like idiots shouting up at his window to wake him to help us get inside our totally difted house. We finally just used the fire escape ladder from one of the seocnd story windows, fell asleep exhausted and it took us hours the next day to shovel our way OUT of the house. So now, yes even on this trip next week, always leave boots and gloves and heavy coats in the car at the airport in case anything like that happens again.

Sorry so long.....I was just remembering.

What a story Marilee! I would pack the heavy duty stuff just in case, you never know what you are coming home to.

Dave just informed me--snow, that dirty four letter word, is coming tomorrow, 3 to 6 inches!!!NO NO NO. I am sick of the stuff. We already have had record amounts and yes, it is all gone and has been in the 50's off and on. Now more snow. Depressing. How about this on top of it, 59° Friday and 64° Sat. That is the midwest for you. Hopefully it will be done snowing by Wed. when the Padre Disney family will be heading towards Kansas City. Kathy

This has been a very mild winter for those of us in the pacific northwest. And Oregon seems milder than our old home way up north in Washington. We did have awful snow and ice that did huge damage for six days straddling New Year's, but that's it, other than our rain. And the past 7 days have been glorious! If this beautiful weather keeps up this week it will be a looooooong week at school waiting for spring break.

Marilee

dvcmomdeh what part of Indiana are you from? We are in northwest Indiana and will be on the March 20 cruise also. I have a daughter who is 11 and a half and a daughter who is 16. Can't wait to sail!!:bounce:

I couldn't believe it when I logged in this morning we grew 2 pages over the weekend. My DD 12+ (13 in May) had her state gymnastics meet this weekend and we were gone.

Babs4, we live in West Lafayette, IN (Purdue Country). We leave on Thursday at about 4:30. DD decided to try out for dance team and I couldn't get them to change the date of tryouts.

The bags are in the car, formals hanging from the hooks. The kids made me take one of the seats out so we have plenty of floor space. When they were little they loved their tummy time. I honestly thought that they would grow out of it. DS (16, next month), 6 foot still loves his tummy time. Says he gets cramps in his legs if he sits in a seat too long.

We are going to be on the search for tropical clothing for the DD. Can't find a darn thing in Indiana. DH has packed his 4 favorite golf clubs; he plans to hit the driving range on Friday. I just hope we all stay awake for the drive.

See you all real soon.:earsboy:

I don't see the snow when I look out my window. I think ahead of what I will be looking at next Monday morning on the MAGIC:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc
