March 20, 2004

I like the "sitting in front of the furnace vent" So true. It is freezing today! I need 80° weather now. Magicboundagain4 & Padre Disney: I am looking forword to leaving all this road construction!!!

Glad to see Miricle is showing, Steph wants to see that one. Under the Tuscan Sun is a wonderful "chick" flick. I loved it.

I'll start the packing process this weekend. Tomorrow is the last Friday before our trip begins! Kathy:Pinkbounc

Mar 20 Partly Cloudy 78°/56° 20 % precip. at Port Canaveral says The WeatherChannel.

It is 19* in Mpls right now! I can' wait.

Where can I get Disney Pillowcases?

thnks,
Dawn:wave:

Check out accuweather web site. They have a 15 day forcast.
83 & 82 for the island forcasts. Sunny and humid!!!:hyper:
::yes:: I need some sun.

Do the young boys on the ship ususally wear only pants (other than formal nt) at dinner or are they more casual with shorts and a polo?
It seems like I have been reading these boards forever and now I can't remember what I have read.
thanks,
Dawn  :smooth:

My boys 15, 14 will wear dockers or cargo pants with polos for dinner....I'm sure they would prefer the shorts though. My 8 year old daughters will wear dresses that are comfortable...not fancy.

geffric we leave out of Midway at 6:40am on Friday. We are ready for some warmth and sunshine. Not totally packed yet but ready mentally. Need some R&R. Can't believe it's a week from tomorrow.:bounce:

babs4 where are you staying before the cruise?? We are staying at the Fairfield by the airport.

disneylarsen - thanks for the labels :teeth:
my boys have zip off pants that they will wear for dinner, except at foraml night then they will wear their good pants.

One week ...one week ...one week:jumping1:

Hi all, do we need to bring dress shoes for the kids as well? My suitcases are getting awfully full packing for 6!!!

Thanks,
Laurie

We're staying at the Fairfield the night before also, along with Cara!

Miracle was a really good movie; I saw it with 8 y.o. ds, and I hope he and dh can see it together on board. Neither boy has seen Teacher's Pet, so I'm hoping for that one too. And I want to see Calendar Girls...maybe it will still be there!

My boys will be in long pants for dinner, though as I've mentioned before, Andrew's may be sweat pants as it is very hard to get him into anything else these days (he is 5...until November, he'd only worn shorts for 3 years...go figure!).

I cannot believe we leave one week from today! I am getting so excited. :bounce: I just know it will pass by all too quickly once we are on the ship. Looking forward to meeting you ALL.

Cara

We were going to be staying at the Radisson next Friday night. Now I don't know :worried: , I've been reading about troubles with the shuttle service ect. My gut feeling on it isn't good. When I called to reserve a shuttle time for us I was told I couldn't because we didn't have the package then she went ahead and said she took care of it and we were down on the list (perhaps so I wouldn't call back?). Using code 102, we can stay at RonJon's for about the same price (within ten dollars). We can park our car there for the week but the shuttle isn't included. I'm thinking I would rather pay for shuttle service and have it be certain, than to have issues with the radisson shuttle (perhaps not being on the list after all, people shoving on without being on the list ect....). Anyone have any thoughts on this? Trying to make our vacation week hassle free.

Shuttle price is $20 for our family of 4. Would a taxi be cheaper while still being as reliable? I've done a search and am not comming up with much info on taxis.

Heidi,

We will probably be coming right by there if you have trouble we could squeeze in 4 more. Just call. 765-426-6340. That's my cell and it is always on. We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas (if you want a local call). Feel free, I always up for helpin' fellow Disney lovers.

Hope your get your transportation worked out Heidi. Nice to offer help Dvcmomdeh, Dis people are the best;).

Next week at this time, 2:25 pm, we will be in the AIR over Florida!!! It is almost here. I am actually seeing excitement in my daughter about the cruise! I was beginning to wonder if she wanted to go. Warm temps here we come! Kathy.

Went to the variety store today and got lots of cruis4e essentials, like travel size stuff and containers to put shampoo in and such. Tomorrow or Sunday I'll drive the 40 miles to Target and look for the 2 gallon zip locks. I hauled out the suitcases today to start piling things in, and our Siberian Husky started her pre-trip pity party. She is hysterical.....she knows what's up when the suitcases appear, and she mopes around, putting her muzzle in the bags and whimpering. Then she gets to doggy day care, and protests when we come to get her. I guess she is as bad as some of the kids with the clubs.

We will be in the air this time next Friday, and lots to do between now and then. I still have no new formal wear, but I do have a new black jacket and can take in a pair of beautiful ladies's tuxedo pants, so I'll be dressed men's wear style for formal. And that's ok with me.

Marilee

Dawn, what a super sweet thing for you to offer! :goodvibes I went ahead and booked the shuttle and room at RonJon's, $30 more for peace of mind is worth it IMO. I will keep your number handy just in case the shuttle fails us. Don't think I will have to use it, but it is nice to have clever DIS friends in the area as a safety net.

Marilee, your dog throwing a pity party is so funny  ! Animals can be almost human, got to love 'em. I'm glad your daughter is getting excited now, Kathy.

?? for those who have done this before: near the end of the cruise, we get envelopes for tips for tipped positions. We indicate how much of a tip we want each person to get, and that amount can be charged to the credit card we linked to our KTTW card, right? If we charge all of them, is there any need for us to go to guest services near the end of the cruise? I keep reading about how it backs up there, and I want to check that it's possible for us simply to avoid going there at all, at least for this matter. The boys will have some Disney $$, and we'll try to pay off their portions with those earlier in the week; since we live relatively near D'Land, it's not a huge problem even if we come home with some.

Yes you will need to go to guest services to tell them what amount to give each server. I went on Tuesday when it was quiet and had them give me the basic amount for each. They then give you a ticket for each to put in their envelope....and then you can always add more later plus phone cards. But this way you can avoid the lines.

geffric, we will be staying at the Swan and heading to the port in the morning.:bounce:

I can't believe it is next week. I am getting excited, and yet a bit stressed. I haven't packed a thing yet, but the suitcases are out. We are staying at the radison on Friday night. I live here in Florida, but on the other coast (Tampabay area). It has been great weather. I have to head to Orlando tomorrow for a basketball game. I'll wave to Mickey as we pass. I hope to meet you all on the ship, and let me know who all the Radisson people are. WE can hang out at the pool on Friday.
