Hello from icy, cold St. Louis! March 17th can't get here quickly enough. They predicted sleet for Thursday night-Friday morning and 8-10 inches of snow ending this afternoon. Well, we got about 2-3 inches of sleet and freezing rain starting early yesterday morning and ending very very late last night and about 2-3 inches of snow on top of that overnight.
Patty - you were right - LOTS of power outages but thankfully, no one in my family is out as of right now. They are predicting windy weather overnight- which could bring more branches. My Dad has 2 large trees in his backyard that fell down a hill from common ground and somehow missed his trees and house. Lots of branches down all around - but no real damage otherwise. Notice how there is never a power outage when it's 65-70? There were lots of outages in STL in July when it was 95-100 and now this when it's in the 20's.
Needless to say, the kids all love it - not too cold for them!
I had taken Thursday and today off - requested them several weeks ago - who would have thought that this weather would set in? I am so glad I did not have to fight driving home from downtown last night and back this morning. Of course - the worst of the storm is always during rush hour, isn't it?
Thanksgiving was unbelievable - 74 degrees - we were out in the backyard most of the afternoon.
Jen - I too avoided malls last weekend. In fact, I won't do malls at all between Thanksgiving and Christmas on a weekend. Any shopping I need, I go right after work when everyone else is home eating. Then I hightail it home about 700-7:30 when they all show up!
Stacie - sorry to hear about your dog. Hope all is well. People who never had a pet don't understand just how very much part of the family they really are!
Well, I am ready for another mug of hot cocoa! My sister and her 2 kids and I spent an enjoyable afternoon at Barnes & Noble, reading and enjoying hot chocolate and lunch in their cafe. I am looking quite forward to the tropics though!
