March 17, 2007 7 Day Eastern

Kyle will be glad to know he's not alone about the tshirt and Mickey stuff. He laughs when he checks our email and sees the mail from you guys. He thinks I've joined some Disney cult!:rotfl: When he read his hobbies on Dutch Girl's website, he was so ill with me for making him sound like a dork! He'll get over it I'm sure!

:rotfl2:
Your DHs sound just like mine. I guarantee the shirts will have to be decent or my husband will NEVER put one on. The official DIS lime green isn't even a choice. I was thinking red or blue and maybe just some printing on the back and a small Mickey head on the front. It would be funny to print up some other shirt and make it really gaudy (maybe flourescent orange) and send it around to threaten all the men with before they see the "real" shirt.

All Right Ladies! I felt that I needed to weigh in on behalf of the rest of the DH's. :rolleyes1

My DW  pulled the matching shirt thing on me on our 1st cruise. I wasn't real enthused about it at all I must admit! Mind you, she had packed the shirt in her bag, and the morning of the cruise told me, this is what you're wearing. Ummm, I don't think so! Well, I'm sure you can guess who won; and it wasn't me! :rotfl2: Yes, I can now finally laugh about it. If you talk to her, I'm sure her version of events would be completely different. ;)

I have although since then, slowly but surely come around; and in fact had suggested to my DW just last week that perhaps we could do the matching shirt thingy again. You see, I'm not really into wearing T'Shirts, unless it's under another shirt that has buttons down the front, and a pocket. So, I made a suggestion about finding a "greenish" colored button down shirt (with a pocket on it); yes, green; for Disboarder's, but it will also be St. Patty's day the same day of our departure! I had suggested finding some sort of Disney print to go on it. Well, for my troubles, I got laughed at, and told they don't make anything like that! :confused3

So, perhaps it's time for the DH's of the world (or at least our cruise) to unite:idea:

:disrocks:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

MN Dis Fan--all I can say is....:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ! Your wife is pretty clever! I wouldn't have thought of packing it into my own bag and not telling DH. (Thanks for the tip.;) ) Although I must admit that since my DH doesn't even pack his own bag, it probably wouldn't matter.:lmao:

I decided to go ahead and break it to my DH last night about the possibility of all of us wearing matching shirts.:rolleyes1 Yes, I got the eye rolls. However, he did just say, "whatever" as he rolled his eyes, so I think he is in! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Paul--Sorry, didn't mean to bash men. I just found it funny that the DHs all had the same response.

I had forgotten that it was St. Patrick's Day. Green would be ok, just not Lime green. Our school colors here are kelly green and white, so our shirt store has all kinds of green shirts.

It's starting to snow here, I'm kind of excited, first snowfall of the season. Andy didn't like having to wear his snowsuit yesterday though.

Hi, everyone! It's a cold one here in Kansas! We are supposed to get snow on top of our ice tomorrow. Ugh!

I was wondering how many of you plan to let your kids sign themselves in and out of the kids' clubs? My kids will be almost 9 and 12 when we cruise. We did not let them have signout privileges on our cruise this past June, but we did feel comfortable enough to let them play up on the sports deck one afternoon for a half hour or so without us being right there. (I was worried the whole time though.;) ) Anyway, we were planning to maybe let them sign themselves in and out this time, but now I'm having second thoughts. What do you veteran cruisers usually do?

Thanks for any help! I'm confused and can't seem to decide on this one.:confused3

Hey all--
Hope all you midwesterners are staying warm and not buried in too much snow. No snow here yet, mainly just rain/sleet, there is a thin layer of ice on everything. The kids went sledding on the ice and our hill seems to be great for that.

We had Andy baptized today, so I downloaded a couple pictures, thought I'd share a couple of pics.

Great pictures, Stacie! Thanks for sharing. We are pretty much stuck at home today. It's been sleeting for most of the day and we're expecting some snow for later. It's a good day to stay on the couch with some movies!

Hi guys,
Great pics! - Don't ya just love babies (someone else's that is):dance3: I like my un-interrupted sleep :snooty:

It's been sleeting on and off for a few days in Tulsa so the roads look Mr. Zambonie has been driving around here.
We are not going to let the 8 year old GD sign herself out. Since this is our first trip with the grandkids (without their parents) I just don't feel comfortable pushing the limits. The kids are getting excited about meeting new friends and I think they plan on hanging out at the club quite a bit. I think there's talk of a movie outing also :grouphug: , but I plan on hanging around - even if it's in the back of the theatre.
We are getting more excited every day...

It's 80 degrees here in sunny Jacksonville, Florida. Unusally warm for this time of year.

I think the t-shirts are a great idea. Count us in.

Disneypoor- I have a 5 and 9 year old. I'm not allowing them to check themselves out. However, if my nine year old had a buddy with him I might consider it. I would be afraid of him roaming the ship alone. He was very aware of the kids that were allowed to check themselves out. We compromised by giving him a two-way radio so
he could call us if he wanted to leave. Hope this helps.

Evelyn

Thanks for the replies on letting your children check themselves in and out of the clubs. We are travelling with another family, and they have kids the same ages as ours. The problem is--they always let their kids check themselves in and out, so we had decided that maybe we would this time since they'd have friends with them. However, as the trip is approaching, I'm starting to feel uneasy about it and am thinking about changing back to having them not be able to check themselves in and out. What to do? What to do?:confused3

We'll be crusing March 17-24 too! It will be our 10th cruise on DCL.

Bill (45)
Vicki (40)
Autumn (16)
Billy (10)

We're driving down on Friday, March 16 and staying at the Country Inn & Suites. It will be our first stay at this hotel. We usually stay in Orlando and drive over to port in the morning.

Disneypoor --- Hope you are staying warm --- we're trying to here is KC but it's hard! I can't believe our kids had school today --- I thought they would call it due to the cold and icy roads. The main roads are fine, but the neighborhoods are very icy --- I know a lot of the buses were late today.

We've always let our kids check in and out of the clubs. The first time we cruised my youngest was 10 and we were cuising with friends so they stuck together. Everything worked out well and they were always able to find us.

The t-shirt idea is good --- don't know if I can get my family to buy in or not though. We've always worn matching shirts for boarding --- makes a great boarding picture! It was a struggle with my oldest last time though --- got her to wear it as far as the picture, then she was done.:rotfl2:

Welcome Irish Cowboy --- we are from Kansas City and I have two girls, one 14 and one 16.

Hope everyone is keeping warm --- especially TiaMaria, looks like St. Louis got hit hard again!

Welcome Irish Cowboy!! Be sure to check out the first post of this thread for info on the group website. Our group is growing slowly but surely. Our cruise is two months from tomorrow!!!

Patty--My DS14 rolled his eyes when I mentioned matching shirts, must be a teen thing. I don't know if we'll get him in one or not, it might help to remind him he's on vacation and rather anonymous. We went to a chior meeting tonight, they are going to NYC for spring break in 2008. He kept saying, "your not going to be a chaperone are you?" He about died when his friend's mom volunteered to take Andy so that I could go.

Susan--We let our DD check herself in and out last time (she was 10), they paged us each time she left though with where she was going and most of the time we just met her where she was. There were a couple times though that she went and we gave here explicit instructions that she was to stay until a certain time (like when we went to Palo). I think we'll let her sign in and out this time too, especially Ocean Quest being an option (we were on the Wonder last time).

We are trying hard to stay warm here in Kansas! We did not have school again yesterday.:scared1: I have a feeling we'll be making some days up this year. Welcome to IrishCowboy! I can't believe how close our cruise is getting! My kids are enjoying hearing from others who will be on the ship. It's making it that much more special for them. I'm still unsure about letting them check themselves in and out. I guess we'll wait until we get there and decide. Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Stacie --- I know how you feel about the NYC trip --- my now DD16 went at the end of her 8th grade year and wouldn't even consisder me going along. At that time my youngest promised me she would let me go with her, well guess what she's going this year and I'm not:rotfl2: .

Hello all!
More snow coming this weekend. Definately ready to cruise!!!

I'm trying to figure out how to travel with a reasonable amount of luggage. We bought Andy his own airline ticket. Does that mean that he gets his own carry on and luggage? Last time we each had a carry on and our own suitcase, and we still ended up shipping a huge box of souviners and dirty clothes home from the hotel. Now we'll have baby stuff too. Has anyone used any of the shopping services by WDW? I talked to the Wegoshop people and they seemed really nice. I would rather have baby formula, diapers, and some groceries delivered than have to go shopping when we land.

Welcome Irish Cowboy!!!! We live in Hoover, AL so I was thrilled to see you on the board! We have a almost 9 yr old son and a 3 yr old daughter. We're staying at the Radisson Resort at the Port Friday night. Can't wait to meet you guys! :woohoo:

Hi, all! It's snowing here in Ottawa, Kansas AGAIN! We had a wintery mix last weekend of ice/sleet/and snow, and now we're having snow again this weekend. I guess it will be pizza and movies at home again this weekend.popcorn:: This wintery weather is really making me want this cruise to get here even faster! I'm ready for swimsuits (well, sortof;) and shorts! Have a great weekend!
Susan

Susan--I saw on the news this morning that you guys were going to get hit again. It's supposed to be here around midnight and not end until noon tomorrow.

I'm ready for the cruise, and the weather, I'm not sure if my fellow cruisers are ready for my pasty white legs in shorts (I guess everyone will know that I'm from the midwest) :rotfl:
