March 16th, 2013- 7-Night on Disney Fantasy

Hi guys! This cruise will be our family's first Disney cruise. Me, DH and DD6 are all very excited :) I'm very much looking forward to some fun, relaxation and not having to cook for a week :-D
What will you guys be booking for the excursions? I have not read much about the different places to see but I know DD will want to swim with dolphins and snorkel. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Hi Erica!

I've got you added to the FE list on the other thread! You can get to to the spreadsheet at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ajnj2m5I8RNhdERhS293YTdnaFZxMENTMW5FVGpBVlE

Shonna

Shonna,

No worries. Thanks for getting us added. Will hopefully soon about my niece. From the size of our group it looks like I better get crackin' on gifts :scared:... so many people. Is there a cut-off at some point like a group member mentioned. I think If I added correct we are at like 90 people total :scared1:

Yes, we limited the first FE group to 25 cabins and we are at that now. Others that want to join will be able to start a separate second group.

I was able to book most of stuff I wanted like Palo Dinner and Excursion without any problems. Remy Brunch had a problem, but hoping to get that sorted out soon:)

Thank goodness... I feel bad having to reject people, but I'm going to have to get up at 4am to deliver all these gifts :rotfl:

wow... you got to book already? Have you cruised multiple times? Or did you just pay in full already?

It's a super exciting day...just booked all our excursions, Palo/Remy, and a Serenity Bay cabana!

March 16 CANNOT come soon enough!

bummer, for me anyways :upsidedow I leave on my first in 1 week. So I guess that means upon my return I can book. For right now my window in 12/31 75 days. Once I sail that window goes to 90 days.

With so many disney cruises under your belt what have been your favorites? i.e. boat, restaurants, excursions, boat activities?

I love cruise only done DCL, but been on all 4 ships. All have been great I think I like Fantasy the most right now, but like them all. I just like it all

I had to call about Remy to book it, but otherwise I was able to book everything online. I learned that if you have multiple cabins on your reservation you cannot book a cabana by selecting all, just select the people in the primary cabin so you can book. The cabana was the first thing that I booked then spa. The excursions and dining were no problem. We are super excited about the cabana. I want to get off in Castaway Cay as early as possible and get back on the ship as late as possible. We are counting the days. This cruise has been moved multiple times because my husband moved jobs, so this will be our first vacation in what seems like forever. Cannot wait!

Going to finally jump on "board"! :yay:

We have been booked on this cruise for a while and I am finally joining the thread.

We are doing a girls trip for spring break this time, so here is our group:

Cabin 8634

Me - LeiLani (I turn 50 this year so I figure why not celebrate a little early on
this cruise.;) )
DD - Alyssa 17 (Her birthday is 3/18 and she will turn 17)
DD's Best Friend - Skye 16

Cabin 8636

DD - Brittany 23
Future In-Law - Angie

A little more information about us. I am a stay at home mom and Alyssa, Skye, and I live in Iowa. Brittany and Angie live in Virginia. This is my 11th Disney cruise. Everyone except Skye has done multiple trips to WDW and multiple cruises. This will be Skye's first cruise!:cool1:

Brittany met her fiance(David) on a Disney Christmas cruise in 2004 and now they are getting married at WDW in June. So this trip is hopefully going to be a little calm time before the storm.

I will also put in a request to join the FB page.

I always like to do DIS Meets and meet up with the people I've been talking to.

We are staying at the Hyatt the night before the cruise so if anyone else is staying there and wants to meet up for a drink let me know.

I have also done some DIS Meets once on board so if anyone is interested let me know. We could either meet on embarkation day or since we have a sea day our second day out we could meet that day.

Any thoughts?

We are so excited to join in officially. We booked this cruise on opening day and finally got the official school schedule for next year. I guessed right on break week. :yay:
This will be our 3rd DCL cruise. It will be DH Kevin, myself Teresa, DD 12 Sydney, and DS 9 Ethan. Plus my parents Jim and Carol. Kevin will be celebrating his birthday on March 18th.
We can't wait to keep chatting and meet on the cruise. We will likely join the FE.

Howdy all - I am Tim (56 at cruise) from Iowa. DW Laurie and I will be on board this cruise (Lord willing). This will be our 4th cruise but our first with DCL. We have been to WDW 3 times (we try to go avery 5 years or so) are were due to go this year but our neighbors convinced us to join them on this cruise instead. We will not be participating in the FE but hope to meet some of you either on FB or on the ship.

Anyway, let the excitement build-up continue! :wizard:

(Wow, been lurking here longer than I thought - just noticed that this is my first post...)

Small World! We are from Iowa too!

Teresa - my DD-Alyssa shares a birthday with your DH.

Hi Everyone!

I've been reading through the thread and I feel so so very late to the game! We just booked yesterday and with this being the family's first Disney Cruise and my second ever Disney Cruise (the first one wayyyy back in my early 20s, as Pa single girl with friends), I have a ton of questions.

What can we expect? Is there a second Fish Extender Group being created? That sounds like a LOT of fun!! What are good port excursions for boys aged 6 and 8? What are some of the restaurants that are not to be missed? Is there a good website that gives great tips? HELP!!!! :teacher:

Thanks so much in advance for any advice you give.

Welcome Aboard!:welcome: Bambi and welcome to the DIS Boards.

The DIS Boards is probably one of the best places to learn about Disney cruises. You can either look through some of the threads, use the search function, or just ask questions.

It's been a little while since my girls were that young so I really can't help with the excursions. On a 7-night cruise you will hit all three of the main dinning rooms at least twice. Out of the three restaurants I think your boys will really like Animator's Palate. If you would like to have an adult dinning experience I would suggest Palo for brunch or dinner.

There are several cruisers on this thread that have been on multiple cruises so if you have questions - ask away!

There is also a Facebook page going if you are on FB. It is a closed group with the same name as this thread so you will have to submit a request to be included.

Hi!
So fun to see more people joining in :) You should definitely think about joining our Facebook group as it does seem to be an easier conversation space.

I'm not sure if a second FE group has started up yet but I think it just needs someone to step up and organize it. I'm sure there will be enough families to make a big second group. Shonna, who organized the first FE sign up, could probably advise. We had a google doc spreadsheet where families could sign themselves up for the FE game. It is linked off of the Facebook page.

Anyways, welcome!

Karen
Mom to Allie (age 9)

Thank you for such a warm welcome!!! I just requested an invite to the FB group and am looking forward to chatting with cruisers there. :wave2:

I will definitely talk to my husband about eating at Palo one evening. It would be great to have at least one "date night" on board!!

At first perusing through DIS boards seemed like an overwhelming task, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I grew up in FL, was a cast member for 2 1/2 years, and have belonged to DVC for 6 years, so we never really too much advice on visiting WDW. But, cruising is an all new ballgame!!!! SOOOOO excited!!!!!!!

Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Oh, and thank you, Karen, about advising me to talk to Shonna. I think coordinating a new FE group could be a lot of fun!! Perhaps once I get my feet wet over on the FB page, I can see how much interest there is on starting a new group. More than anything else, it would be great to meet new friends and for my boys to 'know' some other kids their age that are cruising with us. Josh, my oldest, will be celebrating an early birthday on the cruise (turning 9 on 4/2), so he'll be at that great age of independence.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

I know most people on here are talking on FB, but wanted to update the thread just in case someone is not on FB.

We are planning a DIS meet on embarkation day at 3pm in Vista Cafe.

Can't wait to meet everyone!
