March 15-22, 2008 Eastern - Way-Way Early Check In

I really love seeing the 1 month countdowns. As it gets closer, we can try and describe what we all will be wearing. I am the one with all the crazy boys so I am usually easy to spot.:rotfl2:

Pop-- I have two crazy boys (ages 5 and 7) and one really crazy husband.

Sherri- hope to see you in the terminal.:) I was just looking through my youngest boys swimsuits today to see what might still fit. They will need new ones I am sure. I dont think we will be as formal on this cruise and that makes packing alot easier.

Yippee - my DS (will be 11) and I will also be going at 10:30. Btw, we're from Maryland. DD and DH will be on the banana boat - we didn't want to do this. I actually think this is more relaxing sounding than the banana boat!

Wow - that's great! DD10 didn't want to do this excursion, so she'll probably just hang out in the kids club.

Are you guys going together or solo? Even though it's our first time, DH and I are going to try solo...

My understanding is that for most travel they *really* want the passport good longer than you'll be out because they don't want to deal with the hassle if you end up in another country, not allowed back here, and not wanted by the other country anymore because of visa issues.

My passport doesn't expire until June 2008. It will be good for almost three months AFTER we get back from this cruise. That is why I did not get me a new one when I ordered the families. I have no doubt I am ok but I needed you guys to reassure me as my wife thinks that I need to renew it and I am too scared to send it off now!! :scared1:

I am assuming parasailing will be together? I hope we'll be okay - I am afraid of heights in a bad way, and DS is afraid of pretty much everything. I think it'll be good for us to FACE our fears!!!!! Expensive, but good!

My DH went parasailing with a friend in Hawaii a few years ago, and they were strapped together - two grown men! It was cute when I saw the pictures! So I was assuming me and my little 70 pound son will be - together I don't think we weigh 200 pounds.

I just called to find out which movies will be playing on our cruise. Here's what they told me are on the schedule for 3/15 - 3/22:

National Treasure 2
Enchanted
Dan in Real Life
Ratatouille
The Game Plan
Wild Hogs
Bridge to Terabithia
Meet the Robinsons
Underdog
Pirates 3

Quite a selection! popcorn::

Thanks for posting that info. Nancy. Sounds like a pretty good movie lineup!

According to PassPorter, the weight range is 90 -350. Since your DS is not yet 90, it looks like you'll need to do tandem. DH and I will each be going solo - since we are both over 90lbs and under 350!

I'm not a big roller coaster fan - the up and down and back and forth just don't do it for me. Parasailing looks pretty smooth - at least once you are in the air - so I'm looking forward to it.

Pictures, huh? Well, I'm in the market for a new bathing suit, so maybe I'll get one w/swim shorts. I can just imagine the picture otherwise....:scared1:

I'm missing Enchanted?!?!?! I'm OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE! I wish money wasn't ever an object :cloud9:
I love all those movies except for Wild Hogs

Pictures - well, from what I saw, on parasailing you just wear shorts and a tee shirt or whatever, (I'll be in a swimsuit and cover up I guess?) but I'm with you - I'm looking for some new tankinis with built in skirts. Just more flattering to me! I don't want to walk around feeling so exposed on a family cruise!

My DH said parasailing was very calm and smooth, so that appeals to me also.

Parasailing sounds like alot of fun. I bet you will have a great time.

I just watched National Treasure again the other day so i can be ready to see the second one. I have been wanting to see it since it came out. Glad I waited. Nothing like being able to watch it at sea!!!!:cool1:

You're welcome! Last cruise, I didn't think I'd see any of the movies, but I actually went to one! This time, there are several I haven't seen yet, so I'll like to go a few more times.

I haven't seen the second National Treasure yet either. According to what I hear, there is a scene in the movie that was filmed in the basement of Mount Vernon - which is not open to the public normally. Mount Vernon got so many phone calls about it, that they decided to open the basement from mid January to mid February to the tour. We're talking about going tomorrow to check it out. It's going to be HOT tomorrow - high in the 40's :rotfl: - and so it looks like a good day to go.

We can almost say we only have a month and a half to go!!!!!!!

    :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Yup! 7 weeks from today the ship gets loaded... with *us* :-)

hmm... started this just after noon... then got distracted.

Now 7 weeks from today the ship will be on its way. Just took a peek at the live-cams down there and saw her start on her way!

Hmm... I might just have to look at my calendar for next Sunday. I'm down in DC volunteering at the Smithsonian, and it's not *that* much further to Mount Vernon (well, less than twice the time, anyway :-) I'd love to hear if you go if it's interesting. I haven't been there in about a year and a half or so.

At which Smithsonian do you do your volunteer work? I'm ashamed to admit that we don't go to them as often as we should. I mean, we're only about 20 miles from DC, so we should go at least a few times a year. We did do Zoo lights in November, and signed up for Fonz again, but it's been more than a year since we've been to any of the museums.

Anyway, we did make it to Mount Vernon today. The last time we were here DD10 was 2 years old! I can't believe it's been that long! We got there around 10:30am and had no problem parking. They've got a new visitor center and a new educational center. We quickly got tickets, meandered through the educational center, and headed to the tour. We were fortunate to get on a tour with only one other person - unheard of! The group behind us was about 25 people or so.

We did the house and headed around to the side to the basement. It was interesting - they labeled various parts of the basement (wine storage/food storage/etc). We saw the cornerstone and it was a replica - the original was in the museum which was located in the educational center. It was basically an enter the basement, go down one side, and go back on the other. DH bumped his head at the entrance and had to duck the whole time! They had two interpreters who were answering questions and then it was out. I'm glad we went, but if you're only going to see the cornerstone, the original is in the museum so there's no need to rush there before they close the basement again - although it was nice to see where the cornerstone was place in relation to the additions to Mount Vernon.
