March 15, 2015 MAGIC Cruise!! :)

Welcome! I am most happy to add you to the FE list.

We are an informal group. There will be groups of 12 staterooms (we're still working on the first group). When one fills up, I will start another.

There are no rules, just one expectation: Please just agree to deliver a gift to each of the other staterooms in your group. You can give a gift of one per stateroom, or for individuals, or whatever combination you prefer.

Thank you thank you thank you for wrangling this!!!

The next release from Southwest says it's only till March.6, so I'm guessing our dates won't be till the August release. However, we don't know what the Jet Blue dates will be. If they go past March 6th we may have to break the bookings into 2 separate releases. I really don't want to drive in March, much rather be chilling down there before the cruise after a short flight. My fingers are crossed that the prices and flight times will be reasonable if we book early. pixiedust:

I just got an email from JetBlue that says that their schedule is being extended this Sunday July 13 at 12 pm eastern time. It says that they are extending to April 30/2015. Let's see what the prices are!:thumbsup2

Hello All,

Our family will be joining you all on this cruise. My husband and I, along with our children and grandchildren are looking forward to spending 7 nights on the Magic. Our first family cruise was on the Dream in November 2012.... four-night Bahamas. It was so much fun we're doing it all over again :)

Looking forward to participating on this forum and getting to know some of you before the trip.

Karen (and Ed) in Maine

At 12:01 I logged on to JetBlue and WOW :faint: the prices round trip from Buffalo to Orlando $270 each way. For that price I can find something out of Toronto. I guess that this is the price of flying during peak times.

Oh dear! I'm not even ready to book my flight yet. I'm still waiting to get my vacation approved. I was certainly hoping for better prices out of Buffalo. It is an expensive week to fly, for sure! I remember finding a Sun Wing flight from Toronto for $23 round trip ( plus tax) when ds was 5 yo! That started our trips to wdw just the two of us, but it sure isn't that way anymore!

Hooray! A meet thread!

This will be our sixth cruise with DCL -- gonna be gold, baby! It will be the fourth on the Magic in the same room, our second western.

I am happy to volunteer to organize the FE group. If you'd like to participate, please send me a PM with your stateroom number, names of grown-ups, as well as names and ages of kids.

I will maintain the list of staterooms and DISboard names in this post. I think we can decide on splitting into smaller groups once we see what kind of numbers we get. If you are planning personalized gifts, we can circulate a list later in the year.

FE groups will each be capped at a maximum 12 staterooms. You are welcome to join more than one group.

LOL! WELCOME WELCOME - we are a DH Chris and DW Emily too!

Welcome dreamcatchers from the wonderful music city of Nashville, TN!
I have added you to the list on page 1.
As many of our fellow cruisers have mentioned (and you can see from some fabulous photos) there are a number of people who have cruised this itinerary before and can share tips and advice.
I'm going to be visiting my brother and family WylieGrin soon (who I don't see nearly often enough because we're on opposite sides of the country) and we'll be starting to do some planning. Can't wait!

Welcome to the two new folks! Very glad to have you here!!!

Many members here just wanted to stay with this group on the DIS.

Sorry to hear about the airline pricing being crazy for so many of you! We are flying out of Chicago. Its a 4 hr drive but prices are usually half of what I would pay to fly out of here. I bought my tickets as they were released. We are flying Delta and got them for under 300 a piece which I was happy with. They are now up over 400 a ticket. I priced the same flights on Jet blue and it would be over 600 a person!!!! Hopefully for those of you waiting, SW will be better.

Thanks so much for adding us to the FE group! We have sailed before with Disney and the FE made the trip for my kids. They loved getting all sorts of "goodies."
This will be our second Disney Cruise, but we are very part of the Disney family. My husband & I met while working there and now we vacation there every year with the family.

Welcome! to dreamcatchers, kayaker35 and mattson8!

I am sooo hoping Southwest releases with good pricing because I am not ready to :drive: yet. DH is fine either way, but I just can't wrap my head around 6 of us in a car for so many hours (about 2150 KM/1335 miles each way), especially since I can't sleep in cars. As much as I'd love to drive straight through, I don't think I can handle losing that much sleep.

So cool! Please tell us about working for Disney!

Getting my DCL "fix" for today :). I'm so looking forward to this cruise! My daughter was on a 3-day Bahamas cruise on the Magic recently. She said the ship reno is great... especially Animator's Palate. She didn't try the Aquadunk, but may when we do the cruise in March.

I plan to be much more active on this board as soon as our September Eastbound Panama Canal cruise on the Wonder is done. I'm totally immersed in planning for that trip. We were on the Wonder last August when we went to Alaska, and loved the ship. Looking forward to being on her again in September. I think as much as anything else, I'm looking forward to making (and enjoying) root beer floats! Unfortunately, the Panama cruise doesn't stop at Castaway Cay :(. I'd gladly give up one of the other ports to have a day at Castaway. Will have to wait until March for that.

With regard to excursions..... in Cozumel Ed and I plan on doing the 12-meter America's Cup Challenge. We did it when we were in Cozumel with Princess last March. I was nervous about it, because I had no sailing experience, but it was fantastic! A total thrill racing on the Stars and Stripes. We got 15 minutes of training before the race. Everyone had a job to do (I was a winch wench!) .... .so much fun. We plan on doing it for a second time when we stop in Cozumel on the Panama cruise, and by the time we do it for the third time on the Magic cruise we should be qualified to captain the yacht :lmao:

Does this mean this is our first group? Can I shop? Or will the groups be swapped later? (Can I shop? Can I? Can I can I?????? )

Lol. Help!

We did this on a cruise - we loved it! (Also the wench! : ) )

It really was a blast! The captains of the two yachts were brothers, so were very motivated to beat each other. Unfortunately, we didn't win the race, but as the saying goes, "a good time was had by all" :) Would very highly recommend this excursion to everyone. Both my husband and I are senior citizens, and there was nothing too strenuous for us to handle. If anyone else is interested in doing it, go on TripAdvisor and read all the positive comments! It's a very popular excursion!
