March 14, '10 "Wonder"ful cruise!!

mkmommy - So you guys are staying at the Radisson the night before? Have you stayed here before? We are thinking about staying here too and am wondering if it's a good place.

Hope - an hour drive to the dermatologist! Wow! You will need a nap today, but I'm sure there is no time for that.

You will have fun at Sea World. The good thing about Sea World is that you can do that in one day, unlike Disney, where you need a couple days. We did Sea World in March and had the option to return, for free, for 14 days. We didn't feel like we needed to go back. We were fine with the one day. It may be because Disney was waiting for us, too.

Have to get the kids off to school. Have a good day!!!

MK - how come we never ran into each other over spring break? that is cool that we cruised together, wish we would have met!

:

My kids are younger then yours and I spent a lot of time running my oldest to kids club events she wanted to go to, and my youngest in her quest to meet characters.

This time we will have to meet.

Lisa

Did you guys here about:

Carnival Legend slams into Enchantment during a storm in Coz today Is that your ship, Hope?

!!

We stayed at the Radisson last year and the pool area is lovely, and we spent all our time there. The room was fine, nothing special but it was nice waking up and looking out and seeing the ships. I would not recommend breakfast there it was not very good and next time we will just go to McDonalds across the street. The first cruise we stayed at WDW and it was much more relaxing staying in Cape Canaveral and getting on the ship without having to drive.

We did take the shuttle and it was a zoo of people waiting but we lucked out and there was a bus going to DCL only so we got on early. I think this time we will return the car and take the car rental shuttle, last time we did not have a car so that was not an option.

Lisa

Lisa - I think you just sold me on the Radisson. It's close, has a nice pool, and has a McDonald's across the street, I think that is all we need.

Well, looks like Thankfully !! My 2 boys are recovering from the tested positive for the Flu Type A ( unofficial but the doc said most likely a 99% sure it is swine flu) !! One went back to school today and we will see and I think my other will go back in the morning.:)

I sure hope none of you all get this!! or your loved ones!!

And Hey we are in a SPH room for this trip!!:banana:

Glad your boys are getting better, was it a mild case or were they sick sick?

It just dawned on me that we are doing the same Dover to Barcelona Cruise also.

Lisa

Phew what a busy day! Glad I am able to sit down and relax now!! Yes we are going to be on the Legend!! Glad it happened now and not when we are on it :)

I am ready for the weekend. I don't work on Friday's so I am looking forward to tomorrow. I am going to call the Orthopedic doctor to see if there are any cancelations in the AM.

Yes, we were up early. There are no dermatologist in our town. If anyone is in that field they could make a killing in our town. And we are not a small town.

cccory....you can pull a hammock next to me! I usually try to be one of the first off the ship. My dh likes to stop close to the snorkeling area. I like to go further down. I suppose we will stay close to the snorkel spot this time.

Well, time for me to go pick up dd from her XC dinner. I really don't think she will be running this weekend. We will see.

Hi all. I have the day off:goodvibes It is our (Canadian) Thanksgiving today.
So, I am cruise researching again.:surfweb:
Getting all our Pirate gear ready now that a lot is out for Halloween. Anyone else dressing up for Pirate Night??
May seem like a dumb ? But, is there a formal night for our cruise?? If so, How formal do I need to dress? Hubby would be okay with just a tie?? Or does he need a Jacket??We are NOT doing Palo. Trying to cut our luggage down as much as possible. My parents are driving down to Florida March 1 and staying for a whole month in a condo at Cocoa Beach.(they are not cruising) We had a hotel booked (Four Points Sheraton at Cocoa Beach) But they invited us to stay with them the night before the cruise when we get in and a few days after. So that works out nicely. My Dad loves the Beach and walking the beach so he is in heaven about this place. I am sending some stuff with Mom and Dad (like the pirate costumes so that I won't have as much to check on the plane)
I am starting to worry again about sea sickness. Now, no one in my family is motion sick in cars, planes or rides. So, I don't know why I am thinking about it. Do you think I should be cautious and give meds before boarding?? Or just wait and see what happens.
We are midship. (Deck 7)
I just don't want DD to freak out if she starts to feel woozy. She is always so afraid of getting sick. By this she means vomiting.
Any thoughts ??
I am also doing lots of walking and jogging on my treadmill to try and get in better shape before the cruise. Ship shape!! (I wish)
I am so psyched about this trip. This is our first ever cruise on any cruise line. I just had to book Disney of course.
Anyhow, I will end the novel...

Happy Thanksgiving, it is one of the few long weekend I actually stay home and it is such a treat, except for the fact that I sent my husband to close up our trailer, how can something so small hold so much stuff that needs to go in the laundry and how can it have so much sand:confused:

The 4 day cruise is pretty casual, your husband will be fine with just a tie, I just wore a sundress last time and it was pretty much the norm.

I would not worry about sea sickness , since none of you are prone to it, maybe bring some medicine with you and if you need it take it then. My kids never noticed the movement at all.

Lisa

From what I have read the 4 night cruises are not as formal as the 7 night cruises. My DH will not be taking a jacket. He will only take a tie. We have been on three 7 night cruises where he has dressed in a suit. This year he will not. We do not do Palo either. I also want to try to pack light. I have two teenage daughters who pack enough for the whole ship!

Now the seasick thing....well on our frist cruise my DH and I felt the movement of the ship A LOT on the first night. Actually, we didn't think we would make it through dinner. We could see the curtains moving. We went to the show both feeling a little green, then all of a sudden it smoothed out...either we got our sea legs at the same time or we hit calmer water. If no one gets motion sick, I would wait and see what happens. My DH and I can't ride some rides at amusement parks because we get sick...you might be fine. It was only our first cruise that we felt the motion. After that we have been fine.

Hope that helps. Have a great Holiday

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian's!!

We had the day off and just got some things done around the house. Or should I say, I got a few things done and the kids did nothing. DH stayed in town and will leave for Chicago tomorrow morning. It will be nice to have a 4 day week.

It was a busy weekend. Friday was high school football. It was their homecoming, so that is always fun. It crazy how these mums have gotten out of control. Guess I'm just getting old. Saturday was a swim meet. I love my daughter and love that she has taken a passion for something, but it is the most boring thing to watch. Stated at 10:00, ended around 4:00pm, my child swam 3 events, so she was in the water for a total of 6 mins. maybe 7. I told her to swim slow so I can see her more.:rotfl:
Sunday was running everyone around to all their fun things.
I did a lot of shopping for my bedroom and bathroom. We remodelled it a couple of months ago, and now I just need to do the accessories. Man, that's been hard. I just want it done, but finding the right things have been a challage. At least I'm getting closer.

I am going to try to pack light for this cruise. It is so true on what they say, pack your suitcase then take 1/2 of it out. I remember our first couple cruises, I didn't wear half the stuff. It seemed like I lived in my swimsuit. We have never gotten sea sick, but one of my daughters didn't feel too good on the two that she has taken. I will be bringing stuff with me, just in case. It never hurts to be prepared. It always happens if you don't bring anything that is when you need it.

Have a good week, everyone!!!

Hello y'all! This is going to be our first Disney cruise. We are going to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday so it is extra exciting. Our group is going to be: me (Carrie), my DH (Hank), and my DS (Hain 7 and Ben 4); my sister (Sarah), her DH (Ron), and DS (Oliver 3); and my mom (Caroline) and dad (Leon).

Welcome Carrie! What a special cruise this is going to be for you and your family. What a gift to give your mom, all of you together! You picked the perfect cruiseline!
Have you guys been on other cruises? Or is this your first one?
I have a 4 year old son, too. What do your boys keep you busy with? Are they into any after school activites? Any preschool?
Welcome, and we are so glad you joined us!

Thanks for the welcome! My husband and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon, but we have never taken our boys. They love going to Disney World so much that it has been hard to not just keep going there. They definitely keep me busy - I can't believe how much energy two boys can have. They both are playing soccer, but that ends next week. We have to come up with another activity that is hopefully indoors - it is starting to get cold here! They both want to learn to ski, but that doesn't start for a few more months. My 4 yr old is in pre-school, and my 7 yr old is in 2nd grade.

Welcome Carrie!! You have been added to the roll call on the first page of the thread!!

I can't wait for this cruise! But to be honest, I really can't think too much about it right now. We are leaving in 34 days for Tampa to go to Busch Gardens and then get on the Carnival Legend on Nov. 22. So, I am a tad bit pre-occupied

I know the Carnival cruise will not measure up to Disney in any way. But, it will still be nice to go. We have a balcony on this cruise and can't afford one on DCL....so it is nice to do other lines once in awhile!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

You sound like me, I am going on the RCCL Majesty of the Seas in November, I have seen pictures and the ship looks lovely but I do worry that it will not measure up to DCL. I am excited to figure out it I like cruising or just cruising with DCL, I hope it is the first as it sure would spread the travel budget a lot further.

Lisa

We have figured out that we LOVE cruising. But it is much better with DCL. When we went on Carnival Glory over Thanksgiving last year, we walked around the ship saying, "Disney would never let that happen! or Disney is so much nicer!" But we also had a good time. We can have a good time where ever we go. And it does help that when sailing on Carnival we can afford a balcony. But on DCL I am in the closet and I don't care!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I am sitting at home waiting on the phone man to show up sometime between 8 & 12!!

So every time I think I should downgrade this trip and save the money for our summer cruise Disney gives me a discount.

I was seriously thinking of just doing the cruise and skipping the WDW after the cruise but I just checked my email and I have a PIN for WDW resorts. I will have to call tomorrow first think and see what is available for the Thursday and Friday. Should I be good and take the extra discount off the room I have booked at the Caribbean Beach Resort, or should I upgrade to Contemporary Resort where I have always wanted to stay or go to our favorite Animal Kingdom Lodge, too many choices.

Lisa

I really want to do Disney before the cruise, but my DH wants the kids to go to SeaWorld on Saturday. I am not sure what we are going to do yet. Since I am the one that makes the ressies, we will see ;)

With our cruise selling out so fast after the promo came out, I am wondering if when final payments comes due if some people will cancel. I really want to try to find a room that we can stay in for both B2B cruise. I don't like the idea of packing everything back up and then unpacking again. Seems like a waste of precious disney time!

Have a great Saturday!!
