March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

We have 2 Dogs...Chewy a Pekingnese and Koby a Lhaso Apso. Chewy we can totally leave at home and have someone check on him everyday. He will just use the doggie door and as long as someone feeds him he will be sad, but he will survive...NOW, Koby on the other hand, is a spoiled rotten way too pampered pooch and a badly behaved one at that. We have never even tried leaving him here because I am sure we would come home with our house torn to shreads! He is little, but believe me he can do the damgage of a St Bernard! Our neighbors normally take him, but I think they just cannot handle him anymore. He would be soooo sad at a vet or boarding place that I am just not sure what we can do. He is so loved that I tolerate his behavior, but others not so much!! I might see if someone would come and stay here while we are gone. Thanks for the advice.

OMG.....ONE DAY CLOSER!! My excitement level is rising!! I am going to have to keep myself busy. I can't imagine how excited I am going to be the week before. I haven't had any nightmares yet.

My DH said that this trip was interferring in his garden planting. I told him, he could stay home and plant.....we were going.

Have a "WONDER"ful day :banana::banana:

Totally off topic, but you may have my answer!! I want to try planting beans (just about 8 plants) and my Dad said I needed to wait until May 1st..but my grandmother said April 1st...when does your husband plant beans??
Thanks!! And what kind does he like? Kentucky Wonder or half-runners? So confused...my grandma had the BEST beans ever..just trying to recreate some old fashioned memories!:)

Same issue here. Our lab is about a year-and-a-half and so he is still a bit into the chewing thing. Last folks who watched him lost a couple toys. Even my in-laws have said they won't. So, likely going to be paying boarding fees that will be a few hundred dollars.

Check around for house sitters!! We have more animals than you, 2 indoor dogs that need pasture play time daily, 3 cats that are supposed to be demousers in the barn, but have all migrated to cozy corners in our garage and 2 horses...so our house sitters have a bit more upkeep, but I pay about $30 a day for all their care..my friends actually wanted to do it for free, but I really have to pay something!! I have peace knowing they're being played with! College students are a good choice...check out local churches for references! :)

We have a 15 1/2 year old Miniature Schnauzer. She is our baby and is spoiled rotten. Luckily we have a friend that will take her into their home. They kept her during our last cruise in Oct. 2009. However, they are more nervous this time due to her age. Plus, last time we stopped in St. Thomas and St. Croix and could call to check on her. This time we will not be able to find out how she is doing into we dock back in LA.

We are a very interesting bunch, we can jump from Booze to pets to gardens without a second thought. popcorn::

Speaking of gardening.....:rotfl2:

Anyone in the PHX area, we've had a tough winter. A few too many nights in the 20's means lots of dead flowering plants. I guess I got to get working on that. Now.......to do it before or after the cruise???

I've been in Phx for 20 years. This is one of the coldest winters ever. When it gets cold I see people put sheets over there bushes and plants. Not sure if it works but a lot of folks do it.

Alright Tara, he isn't going to be much help.....he said, April or May is good. He said he usually waits until it doesn't get lower than the 40s, when the weather is warming up.

Another thread is discussing men in tuxes. My DH will wear a tux on formal night but doesn't want to be the only one.

Any other tuxes for formal night? :confused3

We are skipping formal night. :woohoo: We aren't really the dress-up kind of family and it's just a major PITA for me to manage the entire family in to clothes they don't normally wear. :headache:

The goal of this cruise is to chillax. :hippie: It's been a stressful year!

Is your cat an inside or outside cat? We have a 12 year old inside cat and we don't board him. I have a friend that is coming every 3 days to check on him. We feel so bad leaving him in the house alone. He is so much a part of the family and he loves being close to us. I don 't think he would do well at the vet. But we are really sad when we have to leave him. He will make us pay though.....when we get home, he will not let us out of his sight. He usually sleeps on top of one of us for about a week.

Has anyone else checked out when this thread was started??? melsherard started it on 10/10/2009. She sure has waited a long time for this cruise!! We booked in June 2010 and I thought that was a long time!!!

Our cat is indoors strictly, she panics if she gets outside. She is a 17 year old Himalayan and in the past have had neighbors check on her while we were gone. But as of our last two trips we boarder her with the Vet just in case her recent health issues flared up. We also are severely chastised when we get back from trips. The Vet may be an option if you can't find a place to board him.

I have listen to a lot of cold weather stories from many of you and said to myself how lucky that I live in southern California and have such great weather. NOT!

The weatherman hear said today that this coming weekend we will have weather here that we haven't had since 1949. There is a cutoff low coming down the coastline from Canada and the temps will be in the 20-30's. Snow down as low as 500' We are at 2500', and me without my snow shoes, who would have known:confused3.
