March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

The food on Disney is great, no complaints.

I did like Carnival's food better though especially the steaks and chocolate melting cake.

From the very beginning of considering this cruise I have heard mixed stories concerning the food quality. I just read a scathing review from a passenger that just got of the Wonder. It is entitled "Just got off the 2n Wonder in LA -- really disappointed". On the Cruise Critic Disney cruise Line link. Can't post link because I have less than 10 posts.

Any comments?

She posted the same thing in the Cruise Meet group for that cruise. Funny, but there were a lot of people on the same cruise with her that didn't have the same experience. Go figure.

We are doing a day pass in PV too. I had emailed the Crown resort and loved their price....$35 for adults; 18 for kids. Dreams Pv was the other day pass we were considering. It had better reviews and a nicer beach. Downside it is double the money. $75 for adults and $37.50 for kids. Plus a taxi ride.

Neither you have to reserve... Just show up and buy the day pass from the front desk.

THANKS for posting! This sounds like the plan for us!!! Cant wait! We love the beach and the water and right now any sun would be a dream!

I like Carnival's food better but really no complaints on DCL. Esp love their soup! Yum. Also, their childs menus are better than Carnival. Food is very subjective.

On the original Cabo day we were booked through DCL for a ship excursion. The Pirate fantasy snorkel. Not sure if we are keeping that or not.

For the "new" Cabo day I think we may go on a whale watching excursion. Maybe that pirate themed pirate:one that Scott mentioned (We LOVE our pirates pirate: RRRRR) ...or there are tons of other whale watching choices.

The other thing I am planning to do on one of the days not sure yet...is horseback riding. HAVE to do this sometime on the trip to fulfill my promise to DD. :cheer2:

http://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Horseback-Riding.htm

Above has several "Horse" options. I like the combo ATV & horseback riding...but will prob choose either the one hour "Trails of the Baja" ride for &31.50 or the "Quest for Medano Beach" for 1.5 hours for $39.50. If we ride horses we have to do it on our own due the kids ages.

I'm still spinning DCL canceled Matzalan! That is a really big move. Sad for the people of Matzalan that will lose so much income.

Looking forward to seeing what DCL does to add more excursion choices.

For those also considering horse back riding like us we found another option other than the link above.

They have a horse ride that is more expensive than above but is on the beach instead of a dusty "ol trail. Never been on a beach ride so that sounds appealing. :cloud9:

Cut & Paste below:
"Horseback Riding - $40 for 1 hour and $50 for 1.5 hours riding on Medano Beach (the most popular beach in Cabo)

Once you decide to do the activities, I will make all the necessary calls and send you the confirmation #, check-in locations, etc. You can pay at the time of the tour"

Here is the email that Crown Paradise sent me in regards to the day pass. I'm looking forward to this. It is walking distance from the pier and all my kids want to do is swim in the ocean. :cool2:

We went to Dreams last March in PV and I thought it was good. Here are the pros/cons..

Pros
not crowded at all
great swim up bar
almost no vendors on the beach cause it sits between big cliffs
beach is public but since it has the cliffs no one goes there
food was really good
had a trampoline
beautiful resort

Cons
price
cannot really swim in the ocean because the waves are really rough
not enough lounge chairs by the pool
staff was ok..not great but not horrible either
long (approx 30 mins) taxi ride
no poolside activities for the kids
actually more of an adult place

Hope that helps.

When do you think they will open up ressies for our first stop at Cabo. I want to try and book something for that day. I suppose we can wait till we get on the ship and see if anything appeals to us. But, I would like to have it all planned out.

I am holding onto my Palo Brunch ressies right now. I believe I will be canceling those since they are on our first Cabo day.

For those who have been to Cabo, is there shopping right off the ship? My oldest dd wants to go in town and shop. She doesn't want us to do an excursion that day. If there are places to walk around safely, we could do that also and keep our Palo Brunch.

I just read a post that says we are at Cabo at 11:30 the first day, is that really correct? Seems weird, we are used to docking early in the AM. If that is the case, I will keep my Palo and take my time getting off the ship.

Living here in Arizona, I have a lot of friends and co-workers that take vacations to Mexico. That said, I have asked them about Cabo and whether they feel safe walking around. They've told me they feel completely safe and even have their children with them. DH and I will be getting off the ship for the first stop in Cabo and wandering around.

I know this is a loooooong shot...

We're in rooms 5505 and 5509 (11B Sideways on the fifth deck forward)...I'm thrilled they got our GTY rooms together! The only concern I would have is that we have teenagers (well 5 and one almost 12 year old)..it is a battle at home with showers...30 minutes sometimes!! At home we have the luxury of having several options for restroom breaks, but having 2 rooms with NON-split bathrooms has me just hearing the chaos...everyone waking up in the morning will need to use the restroom! :) And several may be in the shower...so if we had just one non-split, it would be heaven!

So ideally we need an 8A category (across the hall from us on the fifth floor) if any of you have those rooms and are considering doing a port upgrade can you please tell me, then I can upgrade to the room you just relinquished! :) I think that is really the only way I have possible to make it happen! :) If not, you'll see me at the gym every morning to work out so that I can take my showers there! :)

Thanks, long shot, but not outside the realm of possibility! :)

Denise,
Hello! We are looking into the PV Crown Paradise Club. We cant seem to talk to anyone that knows about a "day pass". Can you advise who it was you talked to and when? This sounds exactly like what we want to do and having food, drinks, and a pool with beach included for that price is a deal!! It is me, DH, DS (8), DD (8), and DD (2) in our party!
Thanks for the post and sharing!:yay:
Teresa

Does anyone know more about this, what is included? Is the beach nice or not good to swim in? Do we need reservations?

Misand

Sounds like you have an awesome TA!

I was told " all aboard at 1:30" in Cabo day #2, so I am glad it's 2:30!
We have a 4 hour excursion booked, and would have been cutting it close for 1:30!
Maybe 1:30 is the last tender......

I just called the Crown Paradise Club and they told me AI was $69 per adult and $35 per child. That is a big difference in price! How did you email them and get this info? Still debating between this and Los Veranos. If it was the cheaper price I would think about the AI.
Misand

Merredith and misand( sorry don 't know your name!)

I just called Los Veranos zip line to ask about the pick up location.

They suggest the disco as well. 10 min. Cab ride. They said to be there for 11:00 for the 11:15 pick up as they will not wait.

I asked about the pick up from the office and she said it was a 25 min cab ride from the port. The people that are picked up at 11:15 from the disco are on the same tour as those picked up at 11:45 from the office. She confirmed that.

We switched to a pick up at the disco for 11:15. Some how being on a bus altogether sounds better then a 25 min cab ride..... And less expensive.

So if there are any others booked at that time, we will be traveling together.

Looking sooooo forward to this excursion!:thumbsup2

Has anyone had any luck booking excursions for Tuesday in Cabo yet? Anyone know when booking will be available?

CopaDave ~ Did I read on another thread that you are doing the Harbor Cruise and Scenic Stop on the 2nd day of Cabo? My family is also on that excursion!! I am making my 17 & 14 yr old dd's go with us. :)

Hope, we're doing the Harbor/scenic cruise on the second Cabo day too. Still looking for the first Cabo day and after our Palo. Let me know if you find something reasonably priced.

Uh oh.....Check this out.

Click on itinerary.....

Copa Dave your info just might have been correct.......
EVERY MR cruise has this itinerary now.
So strange.

And equally strange, when I tried to change my spa apt.s it still has Cabo as Tuesday and Friday.

Weird.

I called Disney Cruise line and they are unable to look up reservations tonight due to a black out. The drama continues........

I hope our Friends in Florida are ok!

Glad you are going also Denise. Did you cancel your Whale watching trip?
