March 10 announcement?

My husband and I are waiting for the BIG announcemnet that never seems to come. We have a "dummie cruise " for August 2012 on the Fantasy but we do not want to really do that cruise. We have done the island cruises and the PC, TA and Med. We want to do Hawaii or someother place than the Carribean. IF Diseny does not hurry up with their plans we might have to go with another cruise line. So come on Disney you have a lot of faithful followers- don't let us down.

We were told in the Castaway Club Gold & Platinum gathering last week on the Magic by Capt. Marco that the Magic will most likely begin a NY in the summer, Galveston in the winter rotation after returning from the Med.

He also said that by Dec 2012, there would be a St. Thomas/Puerto Rico itinerary instead of St. Maarten. I don't recall if it is for both Galveston and the Fantasy or just the Fantasy. At the time, we were talking about the Fantasy.

This is music to my ears :worship:

:sad2::confused:

Last weekend, I received an e-mail from NCL announcing their 2012/2013 itineraries!!!

Disney, how much longer do you want us to keep waiting?

The San Juan Fantasy cruises have been available for booking for the last three weeks! Just call DCL directly as it's not on their website. I think the Puerto Rico cruises are actually in November and December 2012, including the Thanksgiving 2012 cruise on the Fantasy.

The frustrating part of this is that to me "San Juan" is a new itinerary. DCL didn't give Platinum or Gold CC members any advance warning or booking priority for these. I'm not upset from the standpoint that I missed out or anything. I just think that if DCL has a "perk" for its CC members, that they should follow through. It's been very odd that these cruises have now been available for booking for nearly 3 1/2 weeks and they still aren't on the website. :confused3

BTW - the prices for the fall/winter cruises are already going up in prices even though they haven't been published on the website. Our December 2012 cruise for connecting verandah rooms has already increased in price by $1,500!!!

DCL announced their Caribbean itineraries for summer 2012 before most of the other cruise lines (October 2010) with the exception of the Oasis/Allure on RCCL.

Carnival waited until January 2011 to announce their summer through winter 2012 cruises.

RCCL has only announced select itineraries for summer/fall/winter 2012. You can book the Oasis/Allure through September 2012, whereas, you can book the Disney Fantasy through December 2012. Further, the Freedom of the Seas itineraries are only available through April 2012. That's the same as Disney for the Magic/Wonder.

That said, I hope Disney does announce soon!!! I want to know where the Magic will be for Christmas 2012.

As with everyone else on this disboard, we are eager--and now getting anxious--to hear the official word regarding the Magic and the summer of 2012. I'm not sure what you are saying re the Magic in NY--do you mean at the end of summer 2011, or in the summer of 2012? And for Galveston--looking at what other cruise lines do, isn't that just more of the same re ports, other than convenience for people from Texas? (And don't you lose out on the WDW-Cruise combo?)

The NY port could be a possible test market (with north and south trips, like the Wonder is doing out here). But to attract more people to the Disney cruise line and its 4 ships, seems like Disney would need to get out into the world. Hence--still holding out for an Eastern Med summer 2012 itinerary!

Yes, we moved our August 2012 ressie to Thanksgiving week 2012 at the beginning of February when the TAs found out. Still not listed on DCLs website, however. But you CAN call and make a reservation or get price quotes. They are booking the Fantasy through the end of 2012, just not online (yet) :confused3

In our 11 years of sailing Disney, this is the longest I have ever seen them wait to release itineraries for the next year. In the past we would have booked in September or October of 2010 for Summer 2012 on the Magic or Wonder

The Magic will sail in the Caribbean out of Port Canaveral through March 2012. I believe it will go to New York from there when the Fantasy arrives.

We just got off the Magic and while they said they don't know for sure, they did say no Med in Summer 2012, No Hawaii, that is will be based out of a US port and most likely NY.

Wow if this is true and they will be going out of NY I will be so torn. I plan on pairing up a Disney cruise with a trip to DL or DW.

However, the saving would be fantastic for us going out of NY, how can I resist that. However, I am already having huge Disney withdrawals not going to DW this year. I only have enough cash for one trip...uggh I know this is just a luxury problem and I know only people who are truly Disney addicts will understand my angst. :rolleyes1:rotfl::rolleyes1

However, I am truly excited about NY....hmmm, just more to obsess about. Now that are several rumors it is begining to feel like NY could happen and if it does this may be my only chance.

just keep swimming...:fish::fish::fish:

So if out of NY...what ports???? I plan to pull up Carnivals itineraries (sp?)right now.

I understand.

We skipped Disney all together this year. And it feels funny. We are going to Alaska, but with another cruise line.

So next year we have WDW w/Fantasy planned for the summer. I was looking at Aulani for Christmas 2012 - but all the rumors about Galveston have me curious. While I'm not holding my breath on this, If there was any truth to Galveston at all, even if the ports were the same as other cruises we would have been on - it would be hard to pass up on the airfare savings, and have a DCL Christmas. I've read so much about how wonderful DCL is at Christmas. I'd hope Aulani would be as nice for a Christmas get together - but the airfare is really high, and it's too early/new to read feedback on if they have special holiday touches.

So. . . .I don't know what I'd choose if they really did come to Galveston. Magic via Galveston or Aulani.

Could they be waiting to see how successful Alaska is before deciding?

Or awaiting some small detail on where it will go before announcing?

Or negotiating between two options?'

Alaska is old news - final due dates for the first few sailings have already past
They know by now how successful it was.

What I heard is that they are still waiting for the port contracts to be finalized before releasing the information on itineraries for the Magic and Wonder past the current dates available for 2012

So, it sounds like NY is a pretty sure thing-what about Galveston-less than sure or will they go as a package deal??
I thought DCL also owned CC....when they show about the Island being found and built up, they state that they OWN it.....interesting. Wonder why they state they bought it :confused3

I sure hope they hurry up and let us know whats up because we are planning another cruise and we are thinking about going on the Oasis of the Seas with RCC..... the kids are older and by the time we do the next one after Alaska they will be 18 and 15....they are 17 and 14 for the Alaska cruise.

I would like to see it cruise out of L.A for the summer also and not out of Canada. Living in San Diego so have been to Mexico so many times that we dont need to do that for a long while. Besides if I want Mexican food I can drive down the street to one of the million places to get it. We sure do love our Mexican food! yum:goodvibes
Ditto here! Haven't done a MR via DCL, but either way we've done it enough...looking forward to being able to book the Dream for the end of next year :cutie:

New York is HUGE cruise market....many don't seem to think so. On Saturdays and Sundays during the summer there are at least 4 ships in port each day. There are also some cruiselines that sail year round from NY.

I posted all the current places cruises from NY sail in another thread (maybe even earlier in this thread)

There are dozens of places you could go from NY....most notably the Caribbean (8 day cruises), Bermuda (7 day cruises), Canada/New England (usually 5 day or 7 day cruises).

Many Trans Atlantic cruises start in NY as well.....there are millions of people within a short drive of the NY port....a VAST untapped DCL market.

There are three main cruise ports in NY/NJ area. Manhattan, Brooklyn and Bayonne.

Here is some info:

http://www.nycruise.com/

We have done a few cruises out of NY and there is nothing like sailing down the Hudson River past the NYC skyline and sailing past Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty....awesome!!!

Plus think of all the pre-night stays people would book with add-ons for Broadway plays, especially DISNEY broadway plays like Lion King and Mary Poppins. I have always thought DCL should sail from NYC.

Has anyone seen anything in the NY port aggreements yet?

and let's not forget the Wonder!:goodvibes
