March '08 - Good Rate?

When I booked my Southwest flight out of Buffalo, I got a link to Budget out of MCO for $90 for 8 days for a Compact (lowest they had was Economy - not sure if there is a difference between Economy and Compact). Total with taxes is about $125 and change.

For our travelling group of 4 adults and 2 kids, we opted for two Compacts in lieu of a minivan since minivans seem to go for $400/week (before taxes!).

Does $125 all in sound like a good rate? I used some other codes here and there, but can't come close to this price. Just FYI, the 7 day rate is about $105, but I needed a few extra hours which pushed me into the 8 day rate.

Wow! I wish I'd clicked on that link when I booked our flights. I'm currently at $166 for 8 days with Budget. I'm still hoping National's rates will come down, but I haven't seen anything cheaper.

Did you prepay? Can you cancel?

I just clicked on the link in the e-mail confirmation SWA sent me. Booked the flight long ago, but just reserved yesterday. See if you can still do it via your confirmation e-mail.

Thanks! Definitely DID NOT prepay. I was counting on being able to cancel for a lower rate. I'll dig out my confirmation and check this evening. Does the Southwest rate require prepayment or can it be cancelled if you find a lower rate elsewehere?

We are going March 5-12 and got airfare on SW for $150.00 including all taxes per person. I clicked on the Budget link that came with the airfare email confirm and I got a full-size vehicle for that week for $135.00 out the door!!! Thank you SW! Now if I could just find those missing WDW tickets!!

Thanks! Definitely DID NOT prepay. I was counting on being able to cancel for a lower rate. I'll dig out my confirmation and check this evening. Does the Southwest rate require prepayment or can it be cancelled if you find a lower rate elsewehere?

It'll take your CC info, but does not charge the card. There's some note that says that cost will only be charged to your card at the end of the rental. I assume this means you can cancel... but am not sure.

Just updated my res. Yes, you can cancel the res anytime.

Thank you! I just knocked almost $30 off my reservation. I hope rates drop more before March, but I can live with $137 for a midsize if that's the best I get.
