Marathon Weekend Weather - version 2011

I  Lululemon! I don't have any of their running gear, but I end up running in their Groove Crops more often than not. I also use them for yoga (duh!), coaching, grocery shopping, hanging out around the house and, yes, occasionally sleeping. I also finally shelled out the money for a scuba hoodie a couple months ago and i'll be living in that thing while in Disney this week.

And don't get me started on their running gloves with the "snot pads" on the side... :rotfl:

I just got a Scuba hoodie too!! <3 it so much. I am planning on rockin' it Saturday either during the race if I feel the wind is too much or that day:). Oh, and I love their gloves, except the watch hole isn't quite in the right place for the Garmin:(.

I can't fit their gloves - even the XS is too long in the fingers.
I do plan on wearing either run inspire crops or run speed shorts...and a run energy pullover :-)

I think I've found my answer. I found a pair of nylon pants at Goodwill that I will wear over my shorts. There's no elastic at the ankle, so they should be pretty easy to pull off over my shoes once I get warmed up. And since the cost was only $2.50, no remorse at all when I leave them by the side of the road. (or on the bench in Tomorrowland where I left a pair last year. ;))

Oh, Lululemon....how I love and loathe thee....

Their stuff is SO unbelievably comfortable...and yet so absurdly (absurdedly?) expensive. If there's a store in Orlando I'm in HUGE trouble...

I agree - super expensive - but worth it if you can swing a few pieces!
And yes, there's an outlet in Orlando!

My DH finds it funny that I treat two things like laundry gold... my Lululemon crops and my gdiaper cloth diaper covers. :lmao: They both get their own load where they're washed with nothing but themselves, and then hung to dry. My first pair of crops is still going strong after 5 years - it still looks almost new, except for a bit of pilling in "rub areas". Lululemon is crazy expensive, but if you treat it nicely, it'll be comfy and look awesome for a very long time.

Oh, don't tell me about that outlet! I'll be sneaking off while the baby is napping... :rotfl:

we bought toss sweatshirts today at wal mart, 5 dollars for mine, 7 for hubby. I am wearing (unless temps drop) my running skirt and knee high socks and a short sleeved shirt with throw away sweatshirt on top. also brining hot hands for my hands, maybe old socks for toss gloves, but no pants. I know once I get going I will be fine. I ran in 34ish temps the other day in a sweatshirt and got hot after mile 2.

Well, so much to do and not enough week for me…..

Up this AM at 2 needing to get a couple things written and a summary of a new reg started. Besides, it’s great training for the weekend.

It definitely looks like the 40’s are the temps to prepare for. Wind will make waiting for the starts interesting. Wind chill is not normally calculated above 40F but if you do look at the chill from 42F and a 17 mph wind the chill will be in the lower 30’s. It is not insurmountable, but you will need to make sure you layer as you leave your resort room. Your outter liner needs a shell to keep the wind out, then you need a lighter layer of material to help keep the heat in. For me, I am in running garb under the ‘wind suit’ and will make my way to the start wearing a trash bag. Once you start running the temps will feel much better. Keep in mind that there is a huge difference between running in 45F weather on a training run by yourself and running in 45F weather with 27,000 of your new best friends. If you stick to the middle of the road you friends will help keep you warm by breaking the wind.

Good luck to all. I may or may not update once more on Wednesday. I am not expecting much change between now and the weekend. If there is a significant change I will definitely post.

Adding to the above, you may see me in a long sleeved tech t on Saturday just to keep the wind off the arms. It really depends on how I feel when I open the door on the patio at the villa. Likewise, I am definitely wearing my longer CW=x tights on Saturday, but more for the added IT band support they provide than for the warmth.

Coach, thanks for the continuing updates and have a great weekend.

As a S.W. Fl. resident since 1986 and a walker all I can say is that temps in the 40's with NW winds means staying bundled up until the bitter end.

I agree, Coach Charles - thanks SO MUCH for the updates....keeps me on track for packing (which is what I should be doing now...)

Looks great this year!

Very funny! I just choked on my lunch when I read the first part.

Boy do I remember that frigid morning all to well!
Although not ideal, this weekend will be a cinch compared to last, thanks for the perspective!

I just checked weather.com and it's saying 40F for the low on Friday night. Eek - it keeps getting colder!

It all looks good to me! :thumbsup2

I'm cold by nature...so I'll be the one in tights and a jacket - the whole race!
I ran a half last May in similar temps - had on shorts, tank and very lightweight jacket and absolutely froze. I'm bringing out the gloves this time, too. All this coming from someone that lives in Michigan! :rotfl:

Oh my- I thought I was the only one who was cold blooded. I'm sure if I were running more than a 5K I wouldn't need my 4 layers, headband and gloves ...

Thanks again to the coach and the wonderful advice from all!

Take away the wind and the weather would be perfect.

As a note the temps stayed within a couple degrees throughout the day. Plan on a cold wait and a cool start and a great weekend to run 39.3 and for my #20 26.2

Looking like a great weekend. The winds will be an issue on Friday and then start to die back through the weekend. There is an issue of a front backing up and warming the region so beware that Sunday may be warmer in the event that occurs
