Marathon Weekend Transportation

I am coming in the weekend of January 9/10 to run in the Disney Marathon.

I plan on taking DME from the airport, etc. However, do the disney bus lines run from the hotels directly to the Wide World of Sports complex or do I need to take a bus somewhere else first when leaving the hotel.

There are busses that run from the Disney resorts to the Expo at WWS, however they are not Disney buses. The bus service is contracted out to Mears [I believe] and you will get on a "non Disney" bus. They do a pretty good job at each resort designating where the pick-up points are and likewise from WWS back to your resort.

There will be dedicated busses to take the marathon/1/2 marathon participants from the resort hotels to Wide World of Sports for the expo (and back). There will also be dedicated busses on race day to take you to the start (super early--check the race info for times) and return you from the finish area.

Often, these will not be the regular WDW busses (the ones that look like city busses), but more likely the more 'cushy' busses such as Mears busses (similar to the DME busses).

They will offer pickup at a slightly different location in the front of each resort compared to the regular WDW busses that take you to the parks, so if you don't see the signs indicating the marathon transportation, be sure and ask.
