Can anyone tell me how crowded the parks really are on marathon weekend ?
We are not marathoners and will be arriving on the Saturday of the marathon weekend.
Should we avoid the parks on Saturday and Sunday ?
Does the crowd thin out after Sunday ?
Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I arrived the evening before the marathon in 2010, and didn't notice any particular crowd problems from the marathon group. In fact, seeing some of the folks after the race in the parks was kind of neat. But I still wonder how they could run like that and then walk around the parks. :confused3

The only problem we encountered was a delay in the bus transportation because of detours on race day. Also, we had to take the monorail/ferry to the MK entrance since the bus stopped before the MK entrance which wasn't a big deal except for the record cold temperatures that year. I swear I saw snowflakes that day. ;)

We were there on marathon weekend last year as well, and will be again this year. We didn't notice any park crowding issues either. And yes it was horribly cold last year. Hoping for much warmer weather this year.

It's definitely more crowded on marathon weekend in the parks than is usually is during that time of year, which obviously was part of the point of running the event. I agree, though, it's kind of cool to be there and congratulate people on their achievements.
