Marathon Weekend 2027

Well - that was something. What surprised me most is how few people seemed to have short wait times. Without the sharing I thought the races might stay open longer but obviously not the case.

I am a little conflicted now because I grabbed a charity bib for Goofy so I wouldn't have to deal with 2 registrations but I will never hear the end of it if I can't get DS a bib for his first Dopey. I might start looking at the various charity options between now and registration day.

Welp, y'all managed to scare the poop out of me, so I signed up through charity. TECH Corps had Dopey for a very reasonable $1314 fund raise (the same as Goofy, which is nice).

Anyway, in for Dopey in 2027.

I'm also considering going through a charity now. On one hand, I don't really have many people to ask to donate, but on the other hand, I don't want to miss out on registering.

I went on the charity page and saw this for the first time, does anyone know what this is all about?

They used to have bib availability through travel agents, but that went away some years ago. This is either referencing the trip around the race (ie it's still on you to get a bib), or they may be bringing that back. My bet is the former or I think we'd see chatter from some of the rD connected agents.

I think it was the pandemic that got rid of the travel agents, my sister in law is friends with one and I had reached out to her for a bib sometime shortly before the world shut down and she was expecting to get some.

If they bring that back maybe it will be tied to some kind of minimum trip spend let Disney find a way to extract some more from everyone/get the preferred do it once and spend a ton customers? Just random tonight if they wanted to do travel agent bibs again.

I am increasing grateful that I got to run the Marathon this year. Not planning on 2027 but thinking I better start putting some extra money aside for 2028 for a possible charity route (or more likely reducing my contributions I make to the United Way through work).

If I may ask what isn the general premium for a charity?

I had heard some chatter recently about it still being possible to register through travel agents, which kind of surprised me because I never hear about it here. Might be worth a call to see what they can do these days.

If you're paying for hotels vs DVC (or Marriott Bonvoy points), the same International Tour Operator I used for NYC does runDisney races too. I've thought about it but it's close to the equivalent of full room rates if I recall correctly.

My charity said they’d be sending out links in the next couple weeks for MW. I like going this route since my money is going to a good cause, and I get to avoid the madness of registration.

I think Team RWB was $2000 for Dopey. The charity I got based their donations off of Pi ($314 for 5k, $628 for 10k, etc.), as they're a charity raising funds for STEM education.

I'm glad that i decided this year to not rent DVC points until after I was registered this year. It's too bad the sharing of links has been closed.

Scott Carter Foundation is $300-$500 on top of the cost of a bib; however, I think there is a little bit of an extra fee over the original bib cost ($40??), and then Active added on their extra fee ($$$) so it is a bit more than that. I did the up front donation, so if you raise money as you go, the Active fees may not be quite so high. I believe the cost of the bib is due up front and cannot be spread out over time like some other charities do.

I’m not sure if they have all available bibs available to the public yet (probably??), but it looks like Goofy and Dopey are sold out.

When I went through Kellsie’s Hope for DL Halloween, I felt their fundraising costs were similar, but you could fundraise the entire amount.

I am supposed to be helping my wife try to get in for the half marathon on registration day. Sounds like it is going to be harder than years past. My neighbor also asked me last night to help him out register for Dopey and send him links like I did last time he was able to register. I am going to tell him he is going to be on his own for registration this time around. LOL

Just got caught up on the W&D registration. Yikes. I’ve never had a problem registering for the marathon. Hoping my luck hasn’t run out just yet

NOT GREAT! I get two early access registrations with my CrD Platinum, but I'm trying for the 5K, 10K and Half. Which one do I leave to chance? Or do I just spend the extra $$$ on reg and sign up for Dopey but skip the last race?

Based on the extended spots for the 5k, that’s the one I would leave for registration day..
(assuming the 5k info of W&D remains valid)
