Sounds like it should be assumed that they’re not going to have single rider line for Everest open at all. It’s close to a walk-on if you get there within the first hour of opening anyway, obviously risk increases after that but they’re definitely inflating the wait time to discourage people.

Meanwhile both ToT and RnRC have shorter listed waits right now but haven’t heard any reports from people on how they’re handling these.

I got a shout out today from Carissa as the first finisher with food they bought in the park! Mobile ordered from Boardwalk but same thing I think hahaha. The crowd in Epcot was loving me walking through with a bacon, egg and cheese in hand

Finished in 4:02. Had a great first half and then stomach started cramping. I felt like Michael Scott since I had alfredo pasta last night. So had a long pit stop in AK, or else would have broke 4. Oh well.

Got back to Saratoga Springs and the EMT’s are attending to a runner who got off the bus.

Given that @camaker is sort of busy right now, maybe he won’t mind too much if someone else, i.e. me, jumps in to do a SAFD before this thread gives way to the 2027 thread.

SAFD: If you could design one Disney race—distance, theme, characters, whatever—what would it be? Realism is most definitely not required or expected!

My answer: Since I missed all the night time races, I would like to have a night time 10k (ish) And I would start at Hollywood Studios. We’ go immediately into the park and loop through as much as possible. There would be entertainment, light projections, etc to keep us amused, and since we’d have the park to ourselves, we’d be able to ride any ride we wanted.
Exiting HS, we’d run to Epcot. Again, torches, entertainers, Remy and GoTG reserved for us. A PROPER gospel choir or marching band to greet us as we finished. And then a “buffet” of our favorite Disney snacks and beverages.

Or maybe just a PotatoLand themed run

I finished! And I’m very happy with that. With 6 weeks off in the middle of training, I wasn’t sure how this weekend would go. I made sure I was going slower from the beginning. I definitely went out too fast yesterday, and was very tired at the end. I was a little worried about today, but it went pretty well.

SAFD: ok, this is technically a whole race weekend, but it's a cool idea

They should have a whole weekend of nighttime 5Ks, 1 in each park. And they could do in the hotter months, since it's only a 5K and it's at night.

Sounds like the course was just cut. Friend at medical pulled out and said Blizzard Beach was eliminated.

Yes they just cut course at BB a few minutes ago. Assume balloons ladies are closer than expected if still in BB and reading this.

Managed to PB, 3:42:54, even with a little GI distress, but I sort of expected it with the humidty, felt so damp the whole race. Air temp was OK, would have preferred about 10 degrees cooler, but I'll take it.

For posterity, conditions at WDW when course was cut: 75° or 77° depending on outlet reporting, 63% humidity, Feels Like 77°, wind gusts up to 14mph. I know I’m coming at this from a lens of Floridian, but that does not seem worthy of cutting the course purely due to weather. I’ve become pretty convinced they have a hard cutoff time for that spot that isn’t communicated to runners ahead of time to get roads back open. And my opinion no one asked for is that it stinks: if runners are on 16mm pace and feeling fine, let them have the full course experience, stupid BB parking lot and all!

Someone saying the course cutting was a medical staff call, they hit their limit with how many athletes are getting treated.

Another report that balloon ladies held themselves up for a bit at a medical area. Not sure how long but gives some later athletes a bit more leeway.

Finished! Was super happy considering my minimal training between Chicago in October and here, and I was able to ride Everest!

Not sure I’d do Dopey again, but really glad to have had the experience. I’ll be in Epcot today celebrating!

That was TOUGH. My C goal of sub 5 became my A goal early on, then mile 17-18, I tossed it in and focused on completion with 5:19. Brutal it was.
