Marathon Weekend 2026

Finished! My back wasn’t an issue (a couple of warning twinges when I ran down hills) but my feet and ankles/lower calfs (calves?) are pretty tired. Ran with @pluto377 for a few miles and also with @Mr_Incr3dible who waited to me in the finish area.
I saw him at the TTC a few minutes after you, and told him you were looking good. He said “she’s ahead of me?” I said “yeah, go catch her.” 🤣

I shared with some yesterday that my leg injury (shin splints or stress fracture) might prevent me from running this weekend. After really debating about it, I decided to not run today (I heard the voice of @garneska cautioning me!). I felt like I was only going to potentially be able to walk with pain and was wondering what longer-term damage I would do.

I wasn't going to sleep in on Marathon Weekend, so my wife and I still got up at 2:30 and headed to Main Street to cheer (she's better at it than me) and watch (my preference). We were there from beginning to end. It was a lot of fun (although not as fun as running).

Seeing the balloon ladies was a bit anticlimactic. The sweepers did allow a single person who was behind the balloon ladies to run up Main Street before taking her off the course. A couple of them on bikes were even taking photos/videos to capture the moment. It was nice to see.

Another Disney best. 2:09 in change. Beating my other Disney best of 2:15 ish. Got up the Contemporary without assist for the first time which considering how much of a monster that is that’s a win. I probably could have gone sub 2 if it weren’t for the needed restroom stops. Which is just insane to me. When I started racing in the chair I was still picking what characters to stop.

Now I’m successfully chasing a finish before the sun has risen.

I thought it was pretty good course today. A little congested at first but it opened up after a little bit. Agree with others whose ankles hurt. Those on ramps and slanted roads are killer. I am thankful it there was more lighting on the road past Poly and to GF this year. The only really dark area was coming out of MK where they were playing I Will Always Love You.

After cleaning up, headed back to Epcot. It is pretty packed, but to be expected. Riding a few rides and grabbing some food, then it’s back to the room to rest and watch the NFL playoffs. If you see a black and white 49ers hat and HM shirt, say hi!
Was wondering if it was just a me issue or if it felt crowded to anyone else in the first few miles. Nice to know I wasn’t alone in feeling the first few miles felt crowded

Unrelated but never had to ride through a fog cloud bank this morning. So that was new to me. And unnerving because I was afraid of other runners

Funniest indirect thing? Making that final turn uphill into Epcot. And suddenly noticing them messing with the cones. Took my brain a second to figure out why after glancing at my Garmin computers clock and realizing it was time for them to.

Now I need to figure out how to take it slower tomorrow to make sure I get to Everest not too early.

I’ll be running around in my black power chair in Epcot (originally was going to MK but it feels like an Epcot day). And a bright orange Camp Half Blood shirt. If yall see me feel free to say hi

I actually thought it was pretty congested all the way through today. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Or maybe my memories of the HM in the past are shrouded in haze and overshadowed by memories of the marathon. Even the highway miles felt clogged today.
I agree - started from B (though fell back pretty quickly because of long lines) but it did feel more congested. Maybe they already increased the field size for the half?

I had a great race today (minus the constant crowding) Thank you @Mr_Incr3dible and @Herding_Cats for keeping me distracted during the boring highway miles. And thank @nancipants for coming to cheer!

I’m actually looking forward to tomorrow though I’m definitely nervous about finishing. Is there a place to see the flag color for tomorrow? Wondering if they red flagged it.

Chilling at the Coronado mosaic class and will the hit the hit tub at okw. Hoping for an early bedtime. I want to arrive a bit earlier tomorrow and try to be at the back of the first half of D.

There’s nothing in the Event Guide that I can find with the current flag conditions. It’s just got the flag scale on a single page in there for reference. Red flagged is for severe conditions, though. Nothing currently forecast for tomorrow would fall into that category, I don’t think. It’s going to be uncomfortably warm and humid during the race once again, but not severe or dangerous.

The event guide link (https://www.rundisneyexpo.run/) is not working for me (just says loading event). Anyone else having a problem with it?

Agreed. When they cut the course in 2020, they simultaneously red flagged it, but that's the only time I'm aware of.
