@MissLiss279, thank you again for the referral to the SCF for the Dopey registration. I checked a day later and their Dopey registration was sold out. So looks like I either took the last spot or got one of the last ones. I am so glad I don't have to stress out on Tuesday. I don't know why, but I was really stressing this year about actually getting in. I think because I was reading too much social media and all the comments about "I am signing up for my first Dopey this year". I figured there is going to be more of a demand than ever.So I decided I didn’t want to stress out about registration and wanted to lock it in now. Just signed up for Dopey through SCF. Figured I will be able to raise the $500 pretty easily.
What’s the next steps after registering with them?
PARTY PACE! Just have a fun time and don't worry about running the whole thing. You picked the wrong group to encourage you NOT to run the marathon.![]()
Perfect, because I’m aiming for 10K and half, so I won’t take any spots from you!Kind of had an epiphany earlier today and got excited for a Marathon Weekend plan for the first time this cycle. Was originally thinking, and had posted before, that I knew I’d be running the 10k but was not sure beyond that. I realized that really wasn’t going to make me the most happy and excited for next January.
It kind of hit me that I wanted to do my mom’s race (5k) because, as much as I don’t want to admit it, she’s 70 and tore her Achilles tendon a few years ago; so there may not be as many MW with her participating as I would like there to be in the future. So the 5k is in.
I realized at that point that still I had the desire to do more than the 5k. I kind of took the 10k out of consideration as I’m not looking to do Dopey and the 5k and 10k can be a little redendant course-wise. Half Marathons are fun and probably my favorite distance, but getting back to the Marathon Finish Line is really an itch I need to scratch. I hadn’t even really considered the Marathon until today, but I was shocked how right it felt, how pumped up I was, and how little anxiety I had about the prospect of signing up, doing the training, and getting back across that finish line.
So I’m signing up for a somewhat odd 5k/Marathon double next Tuesday and will need everyone to refrain from taking my spots in those races. Excited to have a plan nailed down and one that I’m really stoked about in a way that I haven’t been since the pandemic.
I so do not need a shirt that holds in odors....Back to an earlier conversation about shirts:
I normally get a women’s medium in Disney shirts. Last year, I ran the Women’s Savannah Half, which had Brooks shirts for both the race shirt and the ones they were selling. I had to get a women’s large, and they are still smaller than the Disney ones. The race shirt was the kind of fabric that really holds in odor.
The one in the second picture is much nicer than the race shirt. The fabric has a nice soft hand, and it doesn’t hold in odors. They both indicate “designed in Seattle, made in El Salvador,” but I guess the fabric content was on a tag that I tore off. I remember now that I had ordered the medium race shirt, but they let me swap for a large at the expo. It would not surprise me if rD went for the same, cheaper race shirts and sold the nicer ones at the expo.I so do not need a shirt that holds in odors....
You can always join our growing spectator group for the marathon! There are at least three or four of us here already planning on it. Since I do the other three races and will likely be up early anyway, I'm planning to go to the pre-race meetup, then head to MK (and maybe TTC) and then to Epcot to bring in the back of the pack. Last time I did this (2024), I really thought I'd have FOMO not doing the marathon, but I really didn't. Spectating was SO fun! Join us!Of course, if I go, I'd want to run a race. I already signed up for a half at the end of January so the marathon isn't a great idea. However, I'm already making a Daisy costume for MNSSHP, so the half would be great opportunity to reuse that... Yeeesh.
I'm okay with the major difference in length, whatever height I have is definitely not in my torsoBack to an earlier conversation about shirts:

The ones they were selling was a much nicer, soft fabric that I liked much more. For comparison, here is the race shirt on top of last year’s Princess 10k shirt. Again, Brooks is large; Disney is medium:

I’m the one who needs the break and I have to stick to it. I was at WDW for a week around Princess and know it’s time for a break. At least from the parks. Every park is going to have construction going on and I’ve reached my breaking point. I may want to do the ten miler at Springtime next year so I’d do resort days and Disney Springs only.My family is driving me nuts! In the very best way but now I'm firmly back on the fence about MW and only a few days to decide.
Back in January, we all decided we were ready for a break and I still feel that way.... apparently no one else does. I've received several calls and texts from my mom and brother confirming that I have no plans to run the marathon. It sounds like my brother and family have changed their minds. My partner told me that if they go, I could go for a day or two so I don't miss out. I really appreciate his support, but it's making this much more difficult to skip.

Just thought y'all could appreciate my internal dilemma![]()
Ooo…please can I join in? I will be (hopefully) spectating while my DH does the marathon. I’m only going for the 10k.You can always join our growing spectator group for the marathon! Of course! We'll coordinate in this thread and will include spectator info and gatherings in the shared doc we update every year.Ooo…please can I join in? I will be (hopefully) spectating while my DH does the marathon. I’m only going for the 10k.
If the head says yes and the body says no, doesn't that make the heart the tiebreaker?I may want to join the Marathon Spectator Club. DH decided to sign up for his 21st Goofy with his “special perfect invitation” link, so Tuesday is final decision day. I don’t know if I want to attempt another Goofy. My head says yes, but my body says no, so I may do the half marathon only, and then spectate the marathon. I’ll see what race(s) I can get on Tuesday.
