Marathon Weekend 2026

So put this one in the things happen for a reason category...

After last week's charity snafu causing me to decide to just do Dopey next year instead of Goofy, my DD informed me this weekend that she wants to try and do the 5-K again. On plus side (and it's a huge plus), I'm really happy she wants to give this a try again as she's got mobility issues but is trying to challenge herself. I honestly thought we wouldn't get the chance to do this together again unless she gave Roll Disney a shot sometime down the line. We talked about knowing it won't be a given for her and we need to be ok with it if her body decides it's a no go that morning, but just the desire to push and try makes me so proud (was a little dusty in here after the conversation...). She really wants to try the 10-K but decided to shoot for the 5-K with no minimum pace for 2026 and see how it goes and hopefully build from there for the future.

Only downside is it means I'm back into the hunger registration games next week to help try and get her a spot.

Definitely dusty in here. Good luck with it!

Just rearranged my whole spring of races after confirming the start of the POT window for marathon weekend - I can still use the race that got me into A for this year and change it if I run a better time in May. I was supposed to turn around and do a marathon at the beginning of April but my iron has tanked and I haven’t done a long run, not even one that would be appropriate for half marathon training, in like 3 weeks, daily runs shorter and no real workouts. So scrapping that race, putting a mid-May half marathon on the calendar for an interim goal, survive the summer and then get ready for MW. Had an iron infusion last week but still waiting for benefits to kick in from that - apparently it takes a few weeks.

Low iron sucks sooooo much. Commiseration.

SAFD:
Crazy week, so a bit behind and a bit late with my response. Anything I might have shared has already been said. I will just add to be ready with what ever number of devices and browsers you choose to use at least 15 minutes before hand, take any necessary bio breaks, maybe have a good cup of coffee by your side and just take some deep breaths. Save one browser for this thread as many folks can and do share links as they begin to get registered. This will be my 11th MW registration, it has worked out each time (twice by links shared on the DIS thread). But I still get super nervous - even with all my take deep breaths and get a cup of coffee talk! 😀😆

In the end there is an element of luck, but everyone’s tips will help and I wish everyone a successful registration; as long as you save me one spot in Dopey!

Yes! If you have POT you're pretty much guaranteed to be seeded appropriately to the right corral. Without, a LOT of people choose the fastest non-POT time and inevitably end up spread out across multiple corrals, meaning you could end up several back from where you could be with POT.

To save time during registration, go ahead and pick the fastest non-POT time, but then go back in a few days and change and and submit your POT.
Okay I think I'm reading this correctly but to go back and just 100% verify with the experts in this thread, if I select 5:00-whatever for my marathon time (non-POT), I am later able to go back and select sub-5:00 and submit my POT?

I'm trying for Dopey for the first time, but I haven't run a non-Disney race in awhile so I'll be doing a local half marathon in May to get my POT. So I won't have anything to submit next week.

Correct, as long as you go back in before the deadline which is generally a few months out. I used to go back into my registration as soon as I got an email confirmation and it showed up in my events. Otherwise I’d suggest putting a reminder in whatever calendar you use. Good luck on registration day!

Thank you so much! I feel like I've been talking about doing this challenge for so long, now that I've decided the time has come, I'm actually really nervous about this registration. I'm the point person trying to register for myself, my husband and my best friend so... no pressure right?!

Have them get in the queue as well, and if they get a quicker countdown timer, they can send it to you to use. ;) My husband has had the fastest one for a couple of our trips, and just texts it to me to do the actual registering.

Ahhhh tell me more please? Would I just need them to copy/paste the URL and send it to me, is it that simple? Would this interfere with any windows I have open on my device (I should close those before clicking on their URL)?

My husband will be on a work trip states away, and my friend lives across the country. And I don't trust either of them to register us all haha. But if I can just get them to try for a spot and send it to me to complete, I'm all for this!

>> I can still use the race that got me into A for this year and change it if I run a better time in May.

Is there a corral better than A? Just curious.
And good luck with the iron issue.

I hear you and I love my coffee, but I'm getting to an age where if I have a coffee by my side, it will leads to more bio breaks....

Amen to this! It is truly a case of getting by with a little help from my friends, to borrow a phrase.

I'll be on travel, at a conference with most of my reporting chain, so I'm already nervous about next week. Fortunately there is a break schedule at that time, but I'll still be away from my usual command center. Yikes

They need to click the words "Queue ID" and copy the link that pops up. That is what you need to put in a "fresh" (i.e. one not already in use) browser. I usually keep one browser on one device available in case I need to use a shared link.

Everyone will start with one of these and at the bottom it'll either say "more than an hour" or "____minutes remaining"

and then you'll get the popup below:

I have never used a "fresh" browser with shared links. And I've always been able to share my other links. I just open the shared one in a new tab. :confused3

I also currently have a time that would get me into A according to previous years, but have a marathon in May that I'm hoping to get an even better POT with. I'm very curious to see if the expanded ranges of estimates in the above POT times will mean more corrals, which could also mean more POT corrals. I want as fast of a time as I can get, in case corral A gets smaller.

Gotcha. It's all a hypothetical for me anyway. I'm definitely a member of team not-quite-so-fast. Or a D-lister, if you will, in terms of corrals. But I'm totally with you about optimizing one's position as much as possible. Totally on board with that.

Hi everyone! runDisney newbie here, we happen to be taking our next family WDW trip in the week leading up to Marathon weekend so I decided to plan to sign up for the 10k! Haven't run alot in a long time, haha, but I did run a marathon as a young pup so confident I'll whip myself into shape! This seems like it'll be a fun/new experience.

Glad to have found the registration tips from all you fine folks, I even read the registration-day forum chatter from last year, that actually was really helpful!

My only real question is-- I don't need any other log-in other than my normal Disney/MDE account, right?

Good luck next Tuesday everyone! I may join this year's registration-day chatter. I'll have all my browsers ready
