Marathon Weekend 2026

So, a semi-newbie question. Newbie in the sense that I have never pre-bought merchandise before. Where do I pick up the jacket I purchased? Is it somewhere within the building where all the other merchandise is?

Yeah, same area where the rest of merch is and they'll have a sign. Was pretty easy to find, I did it for the first time this past January.

I hate that excuse because history shows us how great the art can be. It would be one thing if they actually changed the poses, but RD actively uses the same art each race. Compare before Covid:

Eh… it was practically the same Mickey from the beginning 1994 up until 2016 - with the exception of 2013. However those were all the more metal medals without the color enamel or whatever the finish is. I’m not saying they couldn’t do better, but they have re-used a lot of the same Mickey form.

I feel like they’ve had times of great and not so great medals over the years. I haven’t been crazy about the most recent ones, but I’ve seen worse.

My first runDisney race was in 2018. I ran the Princess 5K and 10K. I had run a number of local races over the years, but nothing as big as a runDisney race (and none that gave out finisher medals). Back then I said I’d “never” run a half marathon, full marathon, and definitely not Dopey! If I only knew… Some of my favorite medals to this date are the 2018 WDW Marathon, Dopey, and Princess Half medals. I don’t own them because I wouldn’t have even dreamt of running distances that long at that point, but the medals and the runners that collected them inspired me to run my first half the following year.

Agreed. The area is set up in the runDisney merchandise area with “booths” (I’m not sure what they’re actually called) like the ones they use for bib pickup. Very easy to find and I’ve never seen a long line for it. I don’t preorder often but I always try to remind myself when I do because it’s easy to forget about when you’re in the chaos of the merch building.

Yeah, that’s because it was the exact same medal they gave out each year, just like all the world majors. I remember Wine and Dine did the same medal for the first couple of years too. No one complains that Boston gives out the same unicorn each year. But Disney decided to change the medals each year and made it a major selling point of the races. Now I look at my medal rack and see the same pose and art reused each year. It’s just lazy. At least this year’s medal was great.

I have already put a reminder in my phone

Random one, but what are we meant to do with the race waiver form they want us to print and sign?
As you enter the Bib pickup building there will be a table with waivers to sign. All you need is your Bib# (don’t forget your ID for pickup!) . It’s not a big deal - it literally adds 1 minute to the amount of time to pickup your bib - even on the busiest day.

Crazy that the Mens Medium and Large jackets are alreadysold out, what I get for deciding to sleep on it.

Fingers crossed they are able to increase their order size and they are not locked in.

Is items like this selling out so fast normal?

Not in my experience. I ordered the 2025 Men’s jacket about a month after registration. For DL 2024 I ordered the jacket at least 2 months after registration because I didn’t get registered until well after registration opened. This is bizarre because they should just be able to increase their order. Why leave money on the table? Makes me glad I don’t like the Men’s jacket (if it was identical to the women’s I would have ordered it already)

I think I want the Goofy hoodie but because of size, I don’t think I want to pre-order. But even for that one, Small and Medium are sold out and for most hoodies I’m either a M or L. I just don’t understand runDisney’s merchandising strategy.

I’m having the same issue with the Goofy hoodie. I wish they were flexible with exchanges/returns because I’m just not sure about the sizing. With the way registration went I have a feeling it’ll sell out on day one and I won’t be there until Friday, so I think if I want it I’ll have to preorder.

Doesn’t 100% help, but I’ve never had an issue returning a pre-order at either a park shop or at my resort. Typically I’ve only been given a gift card or merch swap, but it’s better than being stuck with something that doesn’t fit or that you accidentally ordered twice (reason #213 why I’m an idiot)

Thank you, it does help because I didn’t think they accepted returns! I might preorder it then (if runDisney decides to fix my registration link). I’m totally fine with a gift card or merchandise swap because I clearly have no control and find it too easy to spend money in Disney… :rotfl2:

Of my 23 marathon medals, the Disney ones are the most interesting and they are large. Could they do better? Probably. But they are good enough that I keep them on a separate rack because they would overshadow my other medals. Until they plaster the race sponsor on the medal itself (e.g., BoA), I won’t complain.

My first race was the Princess 5K in February 2012. I registered for it in… January 2012. A month out. Today’s registration is unrecognizable in comparison!

At risk of sounding negative… the craziness of registration does not hype me up or excite me to register - it actually has the opposite effect and I feel this really strong sense of satisfaction when I don’t register. If registration fell closer to the race dates and wasn’t so crazy, I’d have little or no hesitation about signing up: this isn’t about not wanting to do any races - it’s specifically limited to registration. It’s very strange.
I tend to agree. I love the RD events, but not so much that I want to pay for a club run Disney membership (which in itself is hard to get!). Maybe I was just lucky in recent years, but this was the first year I got in the queue and it was clear I wasn't going to get in. The only reason I got in was because a family member was able to registered me on their account. Past years, I felt like as long as you got on exactly at or right before the opening time, you had a semi-reasonable chance of getting in. It is a small sample size, but this year, most people I knew had the same experience as me where it was immediately "wait will be over an hour" and you just never even made it close to registering.

IDK what it is - my devices? My internet provider’s speed? The Universe telling me I’m old and need to stop doing these races?! - but despite doing all the right things, I’ve yet to get into a race at all for the past year+ on my own: I’ve only gotten through via gifted queues. Before then, I’d only ever been shut out of a single race over 10+ years of rD registrations. I’m honestly perplexed by the apparent enormous surge in popularity.

Social media and influencers. I get it though. That is essentially their "job". Just from reading the comments on different social media channels, I had a feeling there was going to be an increased amount of people trying to register. But for us non influencers, it is kind of cool to post your accomplishment of finishing a run at Disney World. I post my pics on my IG and I always try to record video of running down Main Street and post that on my story. In a nutshell, FOMO. I really do believe that is what has caused this boom. Heck, I was having it weeks up to registration and that is why I went the charity route.
