Marathon Weekend 2026

I doubt it will slow anyone down. I think once it hits $1,000.00, then it may slow it down some. The demand is there and they can basically charge whatever they feel like. Arent all the races sold out in less than a hour or two still?
With the current exchange rate we've passed the $1k threshold in Canadian dollars. I'd go back and check what I paid for 2023 and 2024, but I don't want to torture myself like that.

Am I the only one who does not really care about theme / artwork for the races? I mean its fine one way or another, but it doesn't change my plans to run or not run the race lol.

Also, are we down to two weeks for registration now? My whole going to this race depends largely on if my friend goes, and he's only 75% confident he wants to do it. I'm a little nervous he changes his mind and opts not to register and then I doubt DW will be on board with a fully solo trip for myself. We don't want the kids to miss out on school and do not really have someone we can get to get the kids to school for those days. So, I guess for now I just have to wait it out and see what they decide to do.

For me, I think it could have impacted how much I would lobby DH to go. If I was planning it as my first _____ (half/marathon/goofy/dopey) I feel like artwork has no impact. But if I was more of a maybe I'll run one or two things this year person and it was something like that horrible 80s 90s artwork I could talk myself out of things a little easier.

But let's be honest. Hanging out with other runners (specifically other Dis'ers) and the rundisney community is one of the big reasons I keep coming back.

yes. general registration is on the 11th.

Please don’t remind me - maybe the exchange rate will be better by the time I have to register for Dopey 2027. At least with Goofy I’m still in 3 figures.

Should I continue to make blanket statements like “I’m not going to run the full in a costume this year”?
I mean, a character themed skirt and/or shirt isn't necessarily a costume, right? :D
Neither is a team jersey and a Dottie skirt, right?? Just need the Lions to make the playoffs again.

Re: the price hike.... I've been slowly converting gift cards I get playing games through a website to Disney gift cards since the summer. I've got enough to cover Dopey so that makes it free, right?
Disney math at its finest!

The theming is great, but knowing runDisney, they'll still stick us with an awful mustard yellow shirt.
At least with the switch to Brooks, they can't reuse this year's Dopey shirt base, right??

I agree, I think we're a long way off from a price point that has any effect on registration. Not only do these races sell out in less than 2 hours, but any spots via telegram are snatched in less than 5 min (usually way less). Unless they drastically increase the field size, I think we continue to see 1-2 hour sell outs for a long time to come.

The more I look at the art, the lazier it gets. The marathon art it literally just a palate swap of the 2024 marathon art, with a helmet and crown stuck on.

What makes me angry is the total missed opportunity. The race description says “experience 26.2 miles ruled by Sir Mickey.” Now where have I heard the phrase Sir Mickey before? Oh yeah, the store in MK which features far superior artwork from Brave Little Tailor. You know, a Disney short actually based on a book. This is what the art should have looked like.

I had pretty much just accepted that rD have about 5 templates of the characters “running” and reuse those basic forms for everything 😆. I guess my expectations for rD have become very low and sometimes they almost manage to meet them.

Speaking of sell-outs, I need help with my strategy. With my Club rD Platinum I get two registrations, but I'm doing three races for MW. My gut says to use the early reg to lock in the 5K and 10K, since they will sell out first, then go for the half during public registration. With this group, I'm not likely to be shut out.

BUT if I'm going to be shut out of one, I'd rather skip the 5K than the half. Do I leave the 5K for reg day??

It is still hard to believe registration is only two weeks away. The registration anxiety is building. LOL.

I just went to my Outlook calendar for work and blocked out the entire morning. Luckily I will be in a satellite office that day, and no one usually bothers me there. Fingers crossed!

You sign up for 10k and half with your Club RunD and then get the 5k on registration day.

I think you sign up for Dopey with a guaranteed slot and then sit back and watch the chaos unfold on registration day. Come race weekend you can run any combination of the races you want to.

That's a $200 premium, but I WOULD get three extra shirts. And if I started the marathon and didn't finish, there's one extra medal. Plus they don't check anything but the bib for the challenge medals, so I could also pick those up and not have to train for the marathon.

See??? This place is DANGEROUS!!

Add me to the LOVE LOVE LOVE camp. Am totally digging the theme and color ways......I was already planning on signing up, so no angst for me there, but color me extra happy to looking forward to cute shirts and medals at the end. Price increase is not great, but it's Disney and sadly, I've come to expect everything to get pricier every year. Time to go discounted gift card hunting!
