Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD - I'm doing the Tokyo marathon in a few weeks! TBH training has been a disaster coming off of MW - I have never run two marathons so close together and my body is NOT HAPPY! I have been fighting the evil ITBS since MW and losing badly. I'm getting treatments at my sports chiro, stretching a ton, and I ordered and IT strap that I hope might help. Just have to survive, and then I'm hitting the coolest Disney parks in the world after the race!!
Then "just" the 10K at SS - I couldn't pass up the Hercules theme!
Assuming my IT band issue calms down, I need to find a half to do in April or May for POT

SAFD: I have all the WDW races on the calendar. Plus trying to sign up my sister and step-son for the W&D races tomorrow. Plus the Garden Spot 10K or 1/2 marathon in April to see if there is any possibility of a POT for my step-son. (I am pretty sure POT is out of range for my running speed). The Reading Hospital (5k or 1/2 marathon) and Fitzy's (5k) in October. I was toying with the idea of putting my hat in the ring for the Broad Street run but my husband convinced me that it is too many races in the spring. It feels like too large of a gap to go April to October with no races so I am sure I'll find something else.

SAFD: No races registered. The only thing I was going to do was a half in early March. But I've paused training. Hope to resume tomorrow as the neck thing seems to have maybe abated. After that, no plans. But I am itching to travel this year and wouldn't mind combining a trip with a local 5 or 10k.

As one of the other Chiefs fans here (when not rooting for the Falcons) I can say that the game sucks wind. Egad, it’s bad.
Yeah that was... something. As a fan from birth, I've definitely seen us play this bad before but not in the Mahomes era. It's like they were cursed! It did make for a much less stressful game than I anticipated, though. And I think it's unlikely Travis retires after THAT game, which is good. I'm a fan for life, so can't be too sad about getting to the SB again and having a chance at history. Onward and upward!

Just have to survive, and then I'm hitting the coolest Disney parks in the world after the race!!
Yes you ARE! Tokyo DisneySea is my favorite in the whole world. ENJOY them, try allll the popcorn flavors, and take time to sit and people watch.

Then "just" the 10K at SS - I couldn't pass up the Hercules theme!
SAME! See you there!

SAFD:
I'm signed up for a 50k in the end of August. Other than that, I've got nothing on my schedule. I might *need* to sign up for something so I have a more pressing deadline to (hopefully) maintain the motivation to train. If I do, it'll be cheap local races.

I may actually need to sit down and timeline all of that so I can figure out where possible races would land.

SAFD: I have a few races planned for the year:
May 4th - Vancouver half marathon. I’ll be running with my sister as her first race, so it’ll be all about her
May 25th - local 5k. I’ve never done a 5k for time before, so this one scares me a little bit
Sep 28 - 10 miler in Brazil
Nov 2 - *hopefully* getting into the NY marathon (I know the chances are pretty much zero, but let a girl dream)

I’m hoping that by keeping my calendar full, I’ll maintain consistency, since I’ve noticed I fail when I don’t have a training plan I’m following

Safd: My Spring plans are dependent on the Broad Street lottery results. Not really spring, but will be getting my hopes up again with the NYC marathon lottery...
I thought you were "tenured" for Broad Street?
SAFD: I entered the Broad Street lottery, too, and registered for the Hot Chocolate 10k end of March. But I'm thinking of DNSing that 10k, my heart isn't into training right now.
Once again trying to talk myself out of entering the NYC Marathon lottery...

I forget - but are you in Canada? If so have you considered one of the international packages for NYC? That’s what I’m doing and the price per night of the hotel package is similar to what I would have paid for hotel anyway (would have presto do points but that would have meant the lottery again)

SAFD: Princess next weekend (wow!) and then a redemption marathon May 4 up in NY. Hoping to get my BQ after electrolyte issues thwarted me at mile 22 of my November marathon. Since I live in southern GA that will probably be it until fall because it'll be way too hot for races. Completely forgot about the NYC marathon starting tomorrow, so thanks for the reminder! Otherwise, may try to find a full around here in October or November as a training for Dopey.

SAFD: I’m probably going to register for the Dam Race (DH already has). I’ll certainly run Peachtree on July 4. Other than that, I’m not sure. I’m not doing Princess this year, which turned out to be a good thing since I haven’t run since recovering from the MW flu. I’m working on regaining the strength I lost in January while I was sick. Once I get back in the swing of things a little more, I’ll decide on what’s next.

Not yet, you need 10 years for tenure. 7 years down, 3 more to go.

I am in Canada. I considered the packages, but to be honest, my travel schedule is already full this year, so adding NYC is *probably* not the best idea. But if the lottery gods are on my side, who am I to argue ;)
Next year for sure I'll get a package.

SAFD: I have the Princess Challenge and leave in 8 days! My training has been somewhat affected the last two weeks with me in PT but I’ve gotten my short runs done and started taper a week early. Things are feeling ok and I’m ready for race weekend.

Next is the RnR Nashville 10k but I’ll make that call after Princess. I may need more rest and may have to call off that weekend. I’m signed up for DL in September and don’t want to miss that.
