Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD:
MW (or PW) will depend on what DS2 decides he wants to do for his senior trip, and when we go on said trip. He mentioned going on a cruise (which we now know kind of sucks for us with DD, and DS3 would still be in that awkward in-between age for a lot of activities) and we've also planted the idea of going out west to some national parks. Possibly Yellowstone, or places in Utah, or even Arizona. I will 100% be getting some suggestions in here if he decides on that.

IF (that's a big if) we come back for MW 2026, it'll likely be for Goofy or "just" the half or full.

SAFD: I'm most likely out for MW 2026, maybe in for DL 2026? Made 2025 work with my work schedule but barely (I was working at the airport before both flights 😵‍💫), hopefully next year EOY stuff isn't as crazy and I can feel less uneasy about doing this again, was really happy with how this year went aside from the work distractions.

SAFD: after 4 marathon weekends in a row I think I’ll be sitting this one out. I’d like a break from marathon training over the holidays. I’m also running an early fall full and I’ve found I don’t enjoy staying in marathon shape between the fall races and January. I could always run a shorter distance but there are other destination races I’d like to branch out and try. This is my favorite Rundisney race weekend though so I’ll be back in 2027!

Sort of hate that we have to decide all of this so soon!
I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment! After the marathon this year, I was fully convinced I was ready for a break. Then last week I was thinking I could easily just do the marathon and skip the parks to make it more financially reasonable. Now I'm back to thinking I'll take a year off but still looking for an alternate plan that excites me.

Unlike others, I find the training to be nearly perfect timing. The weather has cooled off and my employer provides time off at the end of the year, so it's a lot easier to fit in those longest midweek runs. Plus I was one of those weirdos who thought the race temp was also perfect for my shorts and tee 🙃.

New to this thread! Planning for first ever marathon at Disney in 2026! Will be bringing five friends/family with me that includes four new runners! Will be trusting DopeyBadger plan to guide us through the training!
Have run four Princess HM intermittently from 2014 and several outside of Disney.
Gonna book our DVC in just a couple weeks! At this stage, feeling mostly nervous about all of us being able to register for a spot in March

SAFD: I will surely be back for some races next year. My sister is still Perfect Dopey so it’s a good chance for a vacation and to keep her company on at least one of those early mornings. Since I will be forced by rD into making my race decisions in March, I’m going to take all the time I have to decide what races I want to run in the interval. Definitely the 10k, maybe more if any seem like they will be fun.

I want to take on the Marathon and Dopey again at some point, but I will not sign up for them again until I know they will be fun and not a quasi-death march where I question my life choices the entire time.

SAFD: So this past MW went great and I think I have settled on a plan for 2026. I am aiming for a repeat of this year with the 10K and the full. I have absolutely no desire to do Dopey. I’ve already contacted the person I rented DVC points from last year and hopefully we can even get the same room.

I’ve been fortunate to do 3 runDisney weekends a year since the races started back in 2021, but it’s time to cut back a little bit and focus on one weekend and MW is it.

SAFD: I plan to do Dopey #4! I really hope the themes are good. I will have a milestone birthday the day of the expo next year and so this has become my way of celebrating my birthday as someone who does not like birthdays. This year I was feeling so sick for the marathon and had a miserable time (and skipped Everest which was so disappointing to me) so I’m hoping next year will go better.

SAFD: After finishing my 3rd Dopey this year, I'm sticking to my plan to back off to the Happy Challenge -- 5K, 10K, Half -- and spectate the marathon for 2026. I just can't commit to the training during the holidays every year, so I will alternate back to Dopey every other, health and schedule permitting. I'll be booking our DVC rooms soon!
