@lookingforsunshine Oh no!! I'm so sorry! Fingers crossed for mild symptoms and a quick recovery.
I’m so sorry. I know how hard you worked to train, and to have it taken away at the last second sucks so much. I wish rundisney would allow deferrals in cases like this. Hoping for a mild symptoms. And I have freaking COVID. I have not had it once this entire pandemic. I am so upset right now y’all </3
After wine and dine 2021 a photopass photographer told me she had to manually tag all of their photos. The Photopass pics start to flow in so quickly that I think this is a RunDisney urban myth. More than likely there's an automatic OCR linkage that happens as a first pass through the pics. Then the Photopass photographers have to do a manual read and entry for photos where the bib number isn't fully visible. That's why pics can continue to trickle into your account for some time after the race. I think they may even have the option to add multiple tags to the pics so that they can cover a range of potential bib numbers when a number or two might not be 100% clear.
So sorry to read this. I hope you have a speedy recovery and that the cruise line is willing to work with you on a solution. And I have freaking COVID. I have not had it once this entire pandemic. I am so upset right now y’all </3

May be out of date info but when I worked photopass back in 2016 it was literally a massive office where a few dozen of us would sign up for shifts, get sodas and occasionally pizza, and sit at a desk where an auto queue system would feed us photos, we would manually type in bib numbers as tags, and submit. We'd have boards that we would put difficult to see costume bib numbers up on (and occasionally just favorite costumes), and often you'd get so many photos from a sequence that even if you couldn't see a bib in one photo you could usually sit it in a previous/next image. Thanks, I realized I entered the wrong code number (even though it was accepted, weird!) but now I am in good shape and got a bunch of pics. I actually think there is some automatic element to the photopass system because I know you don’t have to have your number showing for the pic to get linked to your bib.

I know it's wild but all the photos are tagged by handWe were told to tag EVERYONE possible which is why you might get so many photos where you are strangely in the background. Not computers just following an algorithm, photographers genuinely trying to give you every possible moment you were captured on course. The shifts were actually a blast if you signed up with friends.
Yep, me too. Idk why they would be talking about cutting the course short. It's definitely not hot enough for all that.I’m frankly baffled at rD’s stress about weather tomorrow - every forecast shows it not even hitting 70 until noon
Yep, you can secure (large enough) items in it, and can pull the stretchy cords tighter at the plastic clamp. I think some ppl will put their gels in there? When I did the NYC marathon, secured my gloves in them when it started to warm up around a quarter of the way in and they stayed til the end. Though last time I used them to secure a granola bar, I did lose that...I bought a Nathan Trail Mix Plus hydration running belt today (boy that's a mouthful). Is anyone familiar with these? I'm trying to figure out what those stretchy cords on the sides are for. They look they're for hanging things off of but I can't imaging running with...things?...hanging off the belt. They're like what you see on some backpacks, usually with nothing hanging from them but occasionally you'll see a backpacker or hiker with shoes or boots hanging there. I don't know how to post pictures or I would, haha.
I was honestly surprised to learn too! At the time the office out of FL also tagged the Disneyland races, which was awesome because we'd be online at 8am EST for their 5am start and just be tagging as soon as photos hit the cloud. That's super interesting! I felt the same as some of the thoughts mentioned upthread, I've had some race pics show up so instantly that I figured there must be some automated OCR happening and the manual tagging was just for ones the automation couldn't handle.
That makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is them saying they may cut the course short because of the humidity. They were acting like it’ll be so hot tomorrow, but the forecast I’m seeing says it’ll be nice (cooler) until the sun comes up around 9amHey y'all... some insight from a NOLA-girl that lived in Boston for decades... the humidity does make a difference in cold weather. When you layer up in drier climates the dry air in between layers can become warm and stay warm if there's not a bad wind. In humid weather it's harder for the air in-between the layers to stay warm. Basically, it's like trapped cold chill. That said, I still do layer up in cold weather. But even my Boston people coming down for Mardi Gras in mid-feb will be surprised how cold they feel. They say it feels like ten degrees colder than the actual. So yes, humidity does have an impact in chilly weather. Of course, all that said, your personal mileage will vary because "cold" and "feels like" is subjective to a certain degree.
Hope all y'all have a merry and magical race tomorrow. Congrats to all the runners!

Wow!! You’re awfully demanding there. Just cool down a little. This is Disney we’re talking about. Im not sure they even know how to spell IT. What makes you think they could do the things you’re asking for.Every PhotoPass photographer I’ve spoken to recently says this is still how it’s done. You would think that a massive corporation would have a better system, but you’d also think this corporation could run a website that doesn’t crash during a predictable surge, or have people actually answer phones at their help center.
