Today was a rough travel day but at least we are now all safely settled in our room at Beach Club. We sat on the plane on the tarmac for 3 1/2 hours waiting for them to de-ice our plane in Kansas City which of course meant we missed our connecting flight in Atlanta. Luckily got on a flight standby into Orlando. Worried our bags might not get here either but they all showed up a few hours after we arrived.

We even managed a mad dash to the expo to get our bibs right before things closed up at 7 tonight. Phew. I'm exhausted already.

On the first bus to the start and we are having all sorts of trouble this morning. First bus goes to Riverside having been told we need a full bus when we don't. And now we're stuck behind the Magical Express.

ETA: And after that unnecessary bit of drama were on our way to Epcot.

RunDisney will be posting updates on social media.

They're also saying they'll text us updates if we've signed up for runner tracking.

Haven't even truly started my vacation yet and I'm getting into shenanigans at the airport. First got told the wrong gate... nope definitely not going to laguardia.....find the right gate and sit down. Reading my book minding my own business, someone sits across from me. Look up and it's my friend from the animal shelter I volunteer at. We laugh that we're on the same flight. She doesn't have assigned seats and I do. So I board and she gets her seat assignment. I'm again sitting and minding my own business... and wouldn't you know it.. her and her husband have the seats next to me hahaha.

Two thoughts:
1) I wish medal engraving was right next to the finish. It's awful to have to walk all the way back to the entry and then walk allll the way back to the busses.

2) I'm trying to think of a good mascot for a 3 race challenge (5k, 10k, and half) to pitch to Disney. Any ideas?

Congrats all runners today! I got a pic with Genie and in front of the ball near the end, absolutely no lines! My knee only made me stop twice and only for a couple of seconds each. Missed sub-1hr by 2 minutes but just glad I was able to run the whole thing!!

I'm trying to think of a good mascot for a 3 race challenge (5k, 10k, and half) to pitch to Disney. Any ideas?

Problem wouldn't be finding a mascot. With Dopey already taking up a large number of the total 5k and 10k entries adding any type of challenge involving those two races would basically eliminate individual entries all together. Rundisney would have no problem selling out such a challenge and I'm sure there would be no shortage of interest, but it's impractical when considering the current logistics of the weekend. It's also not a matter of adding more entries, for all practical purposes the races are already at capacity.


ETA: Not trying to be negative, just pointing out some practical concerns. Also just realized you may not have been referring specifically to this weekend; in which case you can disregard my ramblings.

Would love to hear about logistics of staying at the Contemp. Seems an easy mono ride to start right?

I think this may be an unpopular opinion from the initial impressions after they released pictures of the medals, but the 10k medal is pretty rad in person.

I like it! I find that the medals almost always look better in person than in graphics or photos. There's a depth and detail to them that doesn't always come through in the photos.

I agree it's bigger and heavier than I thought it would be.
