Marathon Weekend 2017!

I hate to lose the disco tunnel. :( My first year running the marathon in 2013 was so hot that the little spell of running in the shade through there was heavenly!

In the last week the bleachers of the LMA theater have been getting demolished, that's another Run Disney memory disappearing for me as the ToT 10 miler would run through there and you would see yourself on the screen. Its kinda sad that this portion on the park had a lot of memorable Run Disney moments like the Osborne lights in W&D and the disco tunnel also for the full.

As for DHS construction I have a thread all about it on the rumors and news board. LMA is pretty much completely gone. Streets of America is mostly gone but some things still remain. All of the backstage buildings like costuming and props are gone. I'm very interested to see how they do the DHS part of the course.

Thanks for all this info - and for the other thread. If I may ask, are you considering a DCP internship? FWIW DD took a semester off and did one, and it was a life-changing experience for her (for the good).

To be honest, I'm kind of thrilled it's gone! :o I wore glasses, and as soon as I entered the tunnel, my glasses fogged up, and with the smoke, I literally could only see a couple feet in front of me.

Now that I've had Lasik, maybe I'd appreciate it more, but at the time it was legit scary! :scared:

They better not!!That's like as classic and perfectly themed ride as any of the original classic rides over in MK,when someone asks me what my favorite in WDW is and it's clearly ToT.

Agreed. ToT is a core ride along the lines of space/splash mountains or pirates of the Caribbean. I do not understand the rationale behind removing it from DL at all.

18 weeks, you guys! It's finally cooling off a bit here in the Midwest, so runs are becoming considerably more pleasant.

This week's Sundays are for Disney: where is your favorite place to eat at Disney?

For me, nothing compares to Ohana. I love the food and ambiance and the fact that it's all you can eat doesn't hurt, either.

Least favorite is Be Our Guest. The experience doesn't meet the hype, at all.

Flying fish. Going the night of the marathon, can't wait to see it after the refurb.

I have only done Ohana for breakfast but do have it scheduled for dinner this trip. I also do really enjoy Be Our Guest.

It's hard to pick a favorite but maybe Via Napoli, we eat there pretty often and a enjoy the food. Otherwise I also really enjoy 50s Prime Time at DHS.

Basically too many to name. I've rarely had a poor dining experience. My favorites are Boatwrights at POR and Restaurant Marrakech in Epcot. Every time I've eaten at Marrakech we've been basically the only people there and it feels a little bit of a hidden gem. I love getting a pastry to start a day at Epcot from les Halles as well.

One of the best parts of a Disney trip is trying new places and hitting old favorites.

I know I'm in the minority re: BOG, but we were really psyched to get in; then someone stole our reservation one night and when they got us rescheduled for another night, we basically sat alone in the big room to the right. It felt like a cafeteria and the food was nothing more than average.

My go-to dining spot in MK is Columbia Harbor House.
