Marathon Weekend 2017!

I am a little late to the game here. Not sure if I will be running this weekend in 2017 or not - I was going to do PHM instead this time, then changed my mind, then couldn't decide which race, and then the half sold out after I decided I would rather do the full in 2018 for the anniversary year. A part of me is hoping they split and open more half spots since the challenges aren't selling as quickly this time, but I might look into travel providers and just eat the ticket cost. Assuming I can find any. I already have W&D in 2 months and dark side to focus on, but I know now without a winter race there is no way I will be motivated enough to get out there and run between them! GL with training everyone!

I've been struggling with how to deal with the sunglasses question myself. I typically run with them when it's not dark, but haven't figured out how to carry them until I need them. Carrying them in my hand won't work for me because I don't close them tight enough when running. I guess I'll have to do some experimenting on this.

I've had good luck putting the sunglasses on top of my visor. The only issue I sometimes have is my sunglasses fog up. Either when I put them on the first time or if I take them off when I'm running then put them back on.

Another option to consider is either a photochromatic lens like this. http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1096395_-1___000000 . The lenses start clear then darken as the sun comes up. You could wear those from the start.

Yes. I end up carrying sunglasses in my hand and then putting them on when the sun is up.

I can't seem to run in sunglasses. I may have to see about trying out some hats I guess!

I cant' remember which direction it was, but if you're in a middle to back corral, yes - if sunny, it'll be in your face at some point.

Thanks. I was hoping maybe it would be rising behind us, but I won't count on it!!

In a word, yes. Unless you are very fast. As soon as I hit the Poly-ish area of the course it hits me right in the eye.

Nope. We are fairly slow! I will plan on some sun in my eyes!!

I can't seem to run in sunglasses. I may have to look into some hat/visor options. Or maybe just hope for an overcast but NOT rainy day?

For the Disney marathon (pictured) I wear a headband with my Mickey ears velcro'd on - my opened sunglasses then fit nicely reversed on the back of my head, slid into the band. For most other races I wear a runner's hat and prop the sunglasses opened on top when not actually wearing them. Either way I don't get sweat dripping into my eyes. I do go cheap on sunglasses though, as I tend to crunch them/lose them/sit on them on a regular basis...

I do always wear a headband when running. I may give this a try and see how it works for me.

I just wear mine on my head, perched above the brim of my hat or visor - easy to access and put on once the sun's up.

I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can...

In all seriousness, I wear my sunglasses for the entire race. I keep them off in the corrals so that I can see what is going on, but I put them on when I start running. It's a comfort thing. Plus, they make me much more aerodynamic.

I wear mine most of the time too. I found leaving them perched on my head would make them fog up by the time I needed them. If I start wearing them before I get hot & sweaty, they stay clear the entire race. Plus, as long as you don't trip over something during the first hour of the race, you look fierce and fast. If you trip, well, then you look like an idiot. :cool2:

My glasses being fogged up when I tried to put them on later was the initial reason I switched to just wearing them from the beginning. Now they're just part of my running routine.

I have a pair of the ironman sunglasses that have the strap so i can wear them in reverse on the top of my head.

I have also looped them over my drinks belt.

Would someone mind posting a link for the 2016 course map? I can't find one that is a pdf file. :(

The DHS portion will change for sure this year.
Due to Streets of America and LMA closing, right? Any word on the backlot disco tunnel? Just so long as they keep handing out chocolate! (I may have circled that table a couple times this past January...)

The costuming building/disco tunnel has been demolished for Toy Story land. We will have a very different course in and around DHS because of the construction.

Everything back there is gone.
