Marathon Weekend 2017!

The Kid's races were held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this past marathon weekend and they all started at 11:00 AM. So, to answer your question.... Yes.

Unless you're in the worst case scenario you should be fine.

Last Half corral starts ~6:30am
Slowest possible finishing time (3:30) ~10:00am
First Kids Race (100m dash) starts at 11:00am

This would be a tight window (getting from EPCOT to WWOS). But as long as you're not in this situation, then yes you should be able to run the half and then do the Kids race afterwards.

Thank you both! :thanks:

Does anyone know a way to get the Active link ahead of registration time for next week? I saw one posted in advance for the Disneyland Half over Labor Day weekend. I know it is much faster to go straight through the Active link and not through Run Disney.

I was wondering this, too! Someone posted one for last year's Wine & Dine Half and I was registered so quickly!

Just wondering which resort people are staying in. Trying to decide so figured I would just see where everyone else is staying.

Undecided right now. I have done POR and BC in the past both great places.

My parents currently have reservations at BW for us, since that's there home resort, but will be trying to get reservations at BLT at the seven month mark.

Totally depends on how many come with us. We may end up renting someplace off property if we have as many as we think we might.

We have stayed at POR each of my four years. This year we have a larger family vacation planned around the Holidays and the Race Weekend so we are staying off property and have already booked our rental. A little apprehensive about how transportation will go, but this was a much more economical plan for a larger group. Really excited for more people in my family to run some races and experience everything that comes with them.

Is the Retreat worth the cost after the Marathon? Just curious on your experiences never having run a Marathon and never having used the Retreat.
Thank you,

I'll share a few retreat thoughts! I thought it was nice to have before my first Disney half and before my first Disney full marathon. I'm glad I purchased the retreat for those "firsts" and because I was running on my own. I don't regret those purchases one bit. I liked the smaller scale of everything - race retreat porto-potties, smaller gear check, fewer people. I liked the temperature controlled tent and was less nervous about the cold. I liked not having to think about bringing or buying food before the race.

But now that I've experienced WDW races without the retreat, I probably won't purchase the retreat again. I can bundle up before the race and bring a space blanket. Immediately before walking to the corrals, I can check my extra clothes and keep the space blanket until I'm ready to cross the start. Now, I know the drill, I know where I'm going, and I don't mind just finding a spot on the ground with the masses. We discovered it's really fun to watch all the costumes and the crazy energetic entertainers outside the tent - I liked that atmosphere and energy more. I don't eat much before a races, and thought the concession lines outside the retreat were pretty quick for a bagel or granola bar. After the race, I'm not hungry right away and in my most recent experience, they wouldn't let anyone take even a half sandwich out of the retreat tent. So while I understand the rule, it means my family would have to wait outside the tent for me if I ate anything - those poor guys have already been waiting for hours by that point, so I feel like it's time for them to get on with the day!

Hoping for some expert advice for a newbie. Plan on running first Run Disney races January 2017! I would like to register for the 5K and 10K. My DS24, would like to run the 5K with me and then the half. Advice on order of registration would be welcome. We both plan to be on computers right at noon on the 26th ready to register and will have our Active.com accounts set up before then. Any advise appreciated. This registration thing appears to be a task. Thank you!

Hmm...gonna say:
You: 10K first, then 5K
Son: 5K first, then half

Basing this on how early registration went/is going (admittedly I forget if the 10K went first or the 5K, but I know they were the first two to sell out).

Good luck!

New to the thread. I'm planning to register for Dopey and have a question about proof of time. How much will it help me move up in the corrals (I started in H this year), if I run a half marathon this spring in around 1:46 vs the 2:14 I ran during this year's Dopey? Any ideas/thoughts to my corral placement if I can submit the faster time? Thanks.

Using the McMillan calculator to convert your half marathon PoT into a projected marathon finishing time gives an expected 3:43 for the 1:46 half. Based on last year's corral breakdown, it looks like you would move up to corral C or so. This is just an estimate and may vary up or down a corral. Plugging your 2:14 in, it looks like you calculate out to G, but were actually in H as an example. I'd always use my best option for PoT, as it can only help move you towards the front and further from the congestion that ensues in the later corrals.

Anyone ever done a RunDisney registration on a phone browser?

I'm going to be at Disneyland on Tuesday when the registrations open, and I'm not packing my laptop, nor do I want to hang out in my hotel room until 9am. It's my DCA day and I want to make rope drop for RSR!

If I absolutely have to, I can take the laptop and change my plans around a bit, but I'd really rather be able to do it on my phone if anyone knows that it's possible.

(I want to register for the 5k or maybe the 10k if I'm feeling ambitious.)
