Marathon Weekend 2017!

So, when are our earliest runners heading for the world? We don't fly in until the 5th, but I'm already completely distracted about the trip!

Flying in on the 3rd, but I have to work the rest of the week at one of our manufacturing plants in Kissimmee doing an audit. Going to hit the expo Wednesday evening and then the parks at night, if I can swing it.

Thanks, I really want to run (well, Galloway run/walk/run) a marathon at least once. I think I can do it!

You can do it. The Galloway program is really popular because it works and if this is your first marathon it is a nice way to get into the longer distances with less risk of totally exhausting yourself or getting injured. Take lots of time to build a solid base. You're not new to running and have race experience and have obviously done training plans before so you really will be fine.

And if you get moments of doubt or panic, shut them out. It happens to all of us. Confidence builds over time and you will surprise yourself :)

Flying in on the 3rd - family with us until then. I got a flip belt for Christmas so going to try it out this week for carrying my phone.

I'm sitting here waiting for mine to arrive in the mail as I type this. I can't wait. Did you get the water bottles too? I love the idea of not having to adjust sizes and mess around with clips. I'd love to hear what you think of yours.

I don't get there until the 6th. :( But must remind myself I did this on purpose, since I am running "just" the marathon, I wanted our vacation time to be AFTER I run (you know, so I can eat ALL THE FOOD!). We don't come home until the 15th. :)

Also, important marathon update: DD27 said she will buy me a frozen margarita in Italy and have it waiting there for me! :)
I have the same strategy! Coming in late on the 6th so I don't wear out the feet before the race (like I did the last 2 times I ran the marathon)

Thanks 2Tiggies!

They can stay at the staging area where they have a big screen showing the runners and the announcers and every time a corral goes off they can see the fireworks. After they see the start they can hurry over to the monorail to see you from the TTC or inside the MK as well as the Poly.

Okay so I didn't realize they could get into the staging area where us runners hang out until we head to the corrals. I guess I didn't notice anyone not wearing a bib last year. Is there a way they can cutover to the start "area"... in other words maybe the first 400 meters of the race? Thanks

I fly in on the 3rd! I'm pretty checked out of life already though. Due to the fact that I work Mon-Thursdays and we have Monday for a holiday next week I just work two more days this week and then out until the 11th. It is making it really hard to concentrate. I'll be solo Tues-Thursday though so if anyone is solo and bored I'm around lol. I'm doing Kona Wednesday morning before heading to the expo and I'm pretty excited for that!

Not sure for 2017, but in 2015, I ran the 5K with our three kids and my husband tagged along to the staging area (although I was on my own for the marathon!)

If I remember correctly, they check our bibs past a certain point - bag check for the half/full, I think. Maybe someone else has a better memory!

Where is everyone putting their phones? I'm running with my aunt so I need it in case we split up, but I don't plan on listening to music so I'm not sure if the sleeve for my phone on my arm is the best idea. If anyone has any suggestions I might purchase something that might be easier than that!

I have a Nathan Hipster belt that I use.

RACE - Full Marathon (my first)
NAME - Kim
DIS'er name - kagmypts
Costume/Clothing - TBD but likely normal running clothes; will be running with my DH
Corral - I
Early Bird or Late Arriver - Middle
Front, Middle, or Back of corral - Would like to be near the front but likely won't arrive in time; always like to be to the far right or the far left of the corral
Expected Pace - 12:15ish

My husband is Dopey so I will be in MK as a spectator during the half marathon.

Apologies if this question has already been asked -
we are staying offsite, but right near the entrance to Disney (near outlets). What time should we leave the hotel to ensure we get there on time? We are doing the 10K on Friday morning. If we leave by 4am, is that enough time? With the race starting at 5:30?

Roads get VERY busy the closer to the start time.

We are staying at Vistana Resort @ 535 & I4 ..... in past years we left @ 3:30 with no traffic worries and sat in our car to relax, use the portable toilets, etc.

Out of like 12 Run Disney races that I've run there's only been 1 where I haven't been with a family member who wasn't running the race. They've always ridden the bus with me and gone to the staging area, the runners and spectators going into the staging area get their bags checked so anyone can go in there.Once they start calling runners to the corrals there will be the tents with bag check where only runners can proceed with volunteers checking bibs, you will also have your bib checked at the entrance of the corral. As far as spectators going to the start line,I've never had a family member try it,I know in the race guide they used to show spectators could go there but it seems like lately they've gotten away from encouraging them to go there.I know I always see people there I just don't know how they get there as it seems like Disney doesn't really want people to go there, maybe cause space is limited or for some other reason.

Hi everyone! I'll be running the half marathon with 7 (yes, 7!) family members. If I purchase memory maker, will I be able to download ALL of our race photos, or just my own?
