Marathon Weekend 2017!

Ugh! I am with you! I just heard that our 10K race for this weekend just got postponed until Oct 15!!! It was our only chance for PoT, so I guess we are starting in last corral after all. I am so disappointed!

Is this one close enough to you?

Long Gull 10K

It's in Gloucester, MA on Sept 25th.

Or this one?

Mystic Runners Classic

It's in Wakefield, MA on Sept 24th.

If not, I could keep searching for another option for you before the POT.

Oooh!!!!! I never found these when looking for one a few months ago!

The Gloucester one might be manageable. I do shift work, with a lot of on call. I am on call that weekend, but I *might* be able to get someone to just cover for me just while I am running the race. There are three of us running for PoT. I'll have to message them today and see what might work. THANK YOU!

First-time marathoner training question: in a couple of weeks I am scheduled to do an 11 mile training run while on a weekend trip to Disney World. Since I plan to do a typical amount of walking in the parks later that day, do you think I should shorten my 11 mile run, or still do the full amount? Thanks!

I am scheduled to do a 13 mile training run this weekend while we are traveling to WDW. I switched up my schedule so I will do the 4 mile run I'm supposed to do next weekend this weekend. Then next weekend, Saturday is a non park day so DD26 and I are going to head to the BW area in the early morning and get it in. The outer hotel loop is supposed to be 4-5 miles, then we will do the inner loop around the lake, then to HS and back to Epcot and around the lake again. Sounds like a much more fun training run than the ones I am doing at home right now! :)

Here are a few BW area routes I did earlier this year (just hit the Play button at the bottom of the maps to see the animated route):
4.9 mile route: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1099252184
6 mile route (same as 4.9 mile route but adds a loop around HS parking lot): https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1090526683
7 mile route (same as 6 mile route but adds out/back on sidewalk along Buena Vista Drive and an additional loop around HS bus station): https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1093614512

When I had a 10 mile run, I just did the 4.9 mile loop twice plus a little more around the Boardwalk. For my 14 miler, I did the 7-mile loop twice.

This is awesome! Thanks so much!

I used runningintheusa.com

This was the search I conducted if you'd like to look for a different option: link

So happy for the proof-of-time save, curiouser! Wish we had more time for proof so that temperatures could dip. My current proof is fine, but 6 minutes over my half marathon PR. The half marathons I'm running this month are not likely to yield much better. One was a trail run (woo hoo for Lake Michigan Marathon, but trails are slower!) the other was the Brewers Mini at 10 minutes over PR (hello to the Dopey runner I saw on the course!) and then Whitewater Half this weekend. Anyone Wisconsin people doing Milwaukee Running Festival or Madison Half in November?

I completely forgot about the Milwaukee running festival. I volunteered for it last year.

I think my training plan calls for a 20 mile run that weekend, but I'm shifting things around to run the half. :) Thanks for volunteering last year! It was a great inaugural year - so much energy and the volunteers were amazing!!!

Lakefront Marathon (Milwaukee) for me on Oct 2nd (last weekend for POT). Would love to do the Milwaukee Marathon some day, but it's too close to Dopey weekend at this point for me to justify both. Same with the Madison Half (although I have done the full a few years ago) although I might swing that one again as a half some year.

Cue Sad Panda:

Disneyland was supposed to be my PoT for Dopey (for real this year). Instead, it ended up being by far my PW half. By like 45 minutes.
I'm using my CB1/2 time, which isn't great but is still a 20+ minute improvement over last year's PoT submission.

Maybe a Sad Panda for the race itself. It's always a bummer when big races don't live up to expectations or aren't as enjoyable as hoped for.

But make it a Happy Panda for your proof of time! You've got a 20 minute improvement over last year's PoT. That's great and you'll still get to move up in the Dopey corrals. Celebrate that positive rather than mourning what might have been. You've got enough worries right now without piling onto them!

I know, Corrals change every year. But, this is going to be my first full runDisney Marathon and my PR for an HM right now is 2:28h. What do you think is this worth for corral placing?

Next weekend I am going to run the Disneyland Paris HM and try to beat this PR, as it is not so good, I think :-)
