Marathon Weekend 2016

Watched some of the 10K outside the Beach Club. Saw @SarahDisney She was doing great and we said hi to each other.

I now know what the balloon ladies look like and the very end.

Congrats to all of the finishers!

I'm ready for tomorrow!

The 10k was added in 2013, which is when Dopey started and why 2018 will be the 5 year anniversary of Dopey. It will also be the 5 year of the 10k and the 25th year of the marathon. Some good medals will be had that year for sure.

I'm on the plane, in the air. I'm about 90 minutes to landing. Reading all this Disney stuff as I get closer and closer has me excited.

I will get to my hotel and then off to the expo.

Great run this morning, though a bit wet! Hope travel is going well for those on their way here and for those who ran today time to dry off and enjoy another day in Disney!

Can someone remind me of a good place to change clothes after the marathon? Would like to avoid changing in a portable if possible.

Also, any suggestions for the quickest way to Animal Kingdom from the finish?

Welp.

Lotta green on the radar this morning, kids.

Just woke up and replayed the last two hours and it looks like the 10k was not fun at all. It also looks like the half and full will be OK unless something is further out in the Gulf and radar can't see it yet.

A big congratulations to all the 10k finishers. I'm looking out the window and it looks nasty. Drinking coffee and hanging out at the hotel sounds like a good plan right now.

The worst thing about the rain is that characters get pulled... first three character stops all pulled by the time we got there...

Disposable ponchos and miler blankets were so good this morning...

AND we got to lead the way for coral C

My hair was so wet and matted...it was still in a pony tail like blob when I took the elastic out.... Also I must've hit every puddle there was out there! Still tons of fun!!

Congrats you 10K runners. Way to tough it out in the rain. Not fun I'm sure, but hopefully you could still enjoy it.

For you Dopey runners, two races down and two to go!! Hope the weather for the half and full treats you better.

Have I mentioned how jealous I am not to be there? So jealous!! Keep the reports and pictures coming. I'm enjoying the vicarious experience.

The first 10K and Dopey were in 2014, as I was there watching my little brother run in it. Disney does special medals for 5th, 10th, etc annual running of events, not 5th, 10th, etc anniversaries.

Generally, the meet up is near the food court. Look for lots of people in bright green WISH shirts.

That was a wet but fun 10K. I was a little annoyed that there were no character stops in the first half due to rain, but Beth and i more than made up for it by stopping at every character in the second half (although we weren't running together ... We just ended up at every character line together). Official finish time was 2:00:14.

It was nice to see some people cheering around the Epcot resorts, and I'm really glad I was able to stop to talk to @rteetz for a little bit. We met some great runners along the way and we're really glad we were able to do the race!

Our running weekend is over, so we're off to Disney Springs for breakfast/coffee/relax. In case I don't have time to stop by and say this later today or tomorrow ... Good luck to everyone running tomorrow and Sunday!

Thanks! Of course basketball season is just now getting going so he's out for that. We're thinking he can still do some off season baseball work with his team, so he's trying to be positive. Honestly, he's probably taking it better than momma is

Figured it would be in that area. Leaving my house now and driving up. Heading straight to expo then check in. Should be on property by 1.
