Marathon Weekend 2016

Dec mileage - currently 101, but I have 4 more planned in a couple hours
Yearly mileage - 821 (plus 4). This is the first year I've "run through the holidays" as I usually fall off the wagon around early October, so it's pretty cool to see the yearly number - double what I ran in 2014 and even more impressive comparing it to 2013.

ATTQOTD:
1. Most proud of my current half PR of sub-2:00 (by exactly 14 seconds and I'm damn proud of those seconds!). Also proud of myself for a) signing up for a marathon and b) training for it
2. I'd like to truly crush a sub-2:00 HM. Complete my first marathon. Improve on the secondary, supportive aspects of running (ie cross training, stretching, etc.) Recovering from a torn quad for the last couple months, going through therapy, has convinced me that although my brain can make my body run, it's not exactly the "best run" so I'd like to improve on that aspect.

I didn't really track my mileage closely - monthly or yearly - but I will for 2016! Maybe I'll even get a fancy watch for Mother's Day!

QOTD:

1. 2015 was a big year for me running-wise: I ran my first 10 miler and my first half marathon, plus signed up for and trained for a marathon. I think turning 40 pushed me out of my 5K/10K rut.
2. 2016 goals: Of course finish my first marathon and then begin training for a local 25K (River Bank Run) that has always been on my bucket list.

Hi, I'm running the marathon (my first) and just found this thread. I thought I'd say hi and thanks for all the great information. I especially wanted to say hi to michigandergirl. I live in West Michigan and ran the River Bank Run for the first time last year. I am badge 50xx and will be in corral I. I've run a few half marathons in addition to the 25K, but my training has not gone well the past couple months so at this point I'm just hoping to finish and not get swept!

Giving everyone here a first shot before I go to the cancelled thread. I just dropped an 'O'Hanas at 6:45 for 3 on Friday the 8th. We've decided to eat elsewhere that night so if anyone is looking to possibly pick up try logging in since it is now showing.

Welcome!! I will also be in corral I! My bib is 44xx and I'll be wearing an Incredibles tank top and a tutu. Good luck fellow Michigander!

QOTD:
1. 2015: 4 and a half marathons in 4 months (one was Dec 2014): Rocket City, Goofy (my 3rd), Myrtle Beach, and Atlanta. 2 PRs, including one on my birthday! Total of 5 and a half marathons in 2015. I PRed again at the 2015 RC.
2. 2016: I believe I am done with marathons after Museum of Aviation, my 10th. I hope to end on a PR. Looking forward to gaining 2+ hours a day!

QOTD:

I think I will stay with the multi question answer format today, so here it goes.

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

1. Not getting hurt.:crutches:
2. Not to get hurt.

I know, no creativity points for me! :rolleyes1

QOTD:

1. Running! I wasn't a runner until this year and I am now :). But probably the first time I subbed 30 min for 5k since I never even thought I'd ever be able to run one straight through when I started this hobby.
2. 2016: Shamrock Shuffle 8k, Ridge Run 10k and then the Chicago rock n roll remix challenge...never raced over 5k...scared and motivated by you all too!

QOTD:
1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

1. Training for the marathon.
2. Finish the marathon. Also want to work on some speed work.

I checked this morning and I still haven't received a refund for my Dooney bag. I called RunDisney to ask when to expect it, and the lady told me that they were not given an time on when this would happen. She wanted to believe it would be soon.

For everyone going to DHS after January 4th. That is the day walls go up in the studios for Star Wars and toy story.

Phineas and Ferb and lightning McQueen and Mater's last day to meet and greet is January 3rd. Jofferys also in that area closes on the 3rd.

December mileage: 0 miles running
2015 Total mileage: 1343.8 miles

1. Set a course PR on a tough, hilly trail half marathon in October.
2. Stay healthy and keep finding joy in running

QOTD:

1. Getting my BQ
2. I really need to set some specific goals. For now, I want to work on getting stronger and faster and most importantly, continue to enjoy the ride!

Thanks again @LSUlakes....it's really cool reading about others accomplishments and goals, thanks everyone for sharing.

Happy New Year all!!!!

Good luck to all of you running next week. I am going to be watching this thread to see what everyone like's and dislikes are about the marathon. Doing Dopey next year. Question for those of you signed up for Dopey for 2016, was there a registration just for Dopey or did you have to sign up for the Runners World Challenge?

Happy New Year!

2016 Goals finish Dopey then try to not be hurt as I seem to be always hurt anymore! Nothing along the lines of setting speedy PRs as those were set already I'm pretty sure!

December miles: 44.5
2015 miles: 450-ish (don't keep track of my treadmill run mileage during the week)

QOTD:
1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running? - just becoming a runner! Making it over 10 miles was a big recent one too.
2. What are your running goals for 2016? - finish my first half marathon in under 3 hours, smiling next week. Then, I'm not sure. :)

Dec 2015 totals: 24.4 miles
2015 totals: 301.9

Although this doesn't seem like much, my 2014 total was 104.1, so I guess I'm on the right track!

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
A Running my first half marathon.
B. PR at my 2nd half marathon
2. What are your running goals for 2016?
A. Break 3 hrs for a half marathon
B. Become a better runner; I really want to be more of a runner, and minimize the intervals.

Runners World Challenge is different than Dopey. There will be a separate link on the registration page for the different races.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I looked at registration time this yea and only saw the Runners World Challenge link so I got confused. Did Dopey sell out super quick this year? Like within hours?

The challenges always sell out first and super quick, even at those prices. :) I wouldn't be surprised if it was within hours. Don't forget AP and DVC get early registration too.

Thanks Kathy. I am used to the quick sales of the Run Disney events. Dumbo at DL this year sold out in about 30 mins, crazy. I think I have found the key to getting in quickly. Finding out the Active.com direct link for the race ahead of time and not going off the Run Disney site.
