On the marathon front, I'm taking a much-needed break from sending resumes to go on a long run today, and I'm working on a super-budget option to just go down for the weekend rather than going for the entire week. Won't be as fun as what I had originally planned for us, but I think I can make it work so I won't have to miss out on my first marathon. My custom-ordered marathon singlet arrived from Etsy yesterday, and rather than being sad, I decided to remain positive and look at what I can do to make a short trip work. Just a little extra inspiration (btw - my shirt has the "Brave" quote on the front). Thanks again for all the kind words and support.
@MeridaAndAngus,
I know I'm pages past your post, but I've been thinking about you and your job situation. I hope that you have been able to work out a way to even do a short weekend, for a couple of reasons.
One- after all that goes in to prepare for this, you deserve to cross the finish line!
Secondly- I remember how empowered I felt when I ran my 13 mile training run. No crowds, no fanfare, just me and sneakers
(well, a few other items too!

) I'm sure that you've felt that feeling of conquering something, of feeling powerful and accomplished... We all talk about it here.
I really really hope for you that you have the chance to run your first marathon, because I believe you will finish and feel amazing, accomplished, powerful.... And somehow, I believe, that feeling ripples into the world around us, we present ourselves differently, and things around us shift to accommodate how we present ourselves,
So in the end, your marathon may very well help you to change the direction or tone of your career.
As you can see, my time off has made me very philosophical! Lol!
But, I have been thinking of you and your situation, I am sending prayers and the very best of wishes!
.... And that goes for all of you!
