Marathon Weekend 2016

Do you think someone at rD would lose their mind if I called and asked if it was OK if I brought a horse to the 5K?

im seriously considering the Marathon version and the 10k for DW whats another 80$ after what we dropped in race fees today right?

I need a second job solely to fund this runDisney insanity.

NO JOKE! My husband asked to see my credit card. Like made me get it for him right then, he was angry. I handed it over and he cut it up!!!!!

And then five minutes later, he told me that fraud protection had called and someone had charged like $500 at CVS in San Diego.

Two thoughts. 1) Didn't RD actually bring a white horse to the Rapunzel themed 5k awhile back? And 2) I saw no restrictions of this nature in the rules. A horse is hardly a stroller :)

3:08 p.m. CT update (for posterity, of course):

Full: 50%
Half: 99%
10K: Sold Out
5K: Sold Out
Goofy: 65%
Dopey: 95%
Kids Races: 50%
Race Retreat: 50%

Crazy. I can't believe the half is selling out before Dopey considering the half was open for so long during pre registration. As for the shirts, are they for sale on disneystore.com? And I am guessing we just got a sneak peek at the mascot for each race then?

Edited for mistype

Oh I shouldn't have asked..... Now I need to get that for my mom for her bday!!!

that's a bold husband....although if I had the courage to pull that one I would have made you wait at least an hour or so LOL

Since I began running (@ 5 years ago), I've wanted to run in a Disney event. I've never had anyone to go with me. I had my son at the Dr. today and I received a text from my sole sister who lives 2 states over asking me to sign up for the 2016 Disney Half Marathon. It didn't take me long and now we are both signed up and I cannot wait!!

I have so many questions. (Sorry). My sons have baseball tonight and I don't have a lot of time to read back over threads.

My family usually likes to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter. Has anyone stayed there for race weekends and was it easy to get to/from from there? Or would you suggest another resort?

What do you consider the must buy items? I bought the commemorative pin, but didnt get the bundle. Should I have?

I think he felt bad because I was literally about to start crying - the lip was quivering and everything.

I can only imagine Glad he came around...but now the questions is did he let you order the shirt? :stitch2:

I am excited I got into Dopey but a little sad to see kid races going so quick. Was hoping to have more time to decide whether or not to take the kids on this trip

(Yes, I've already (generally) planned out my Marathon Weekend vacation schedule.)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! Although we haven't decided on ADRs yet, we're waiting for park hours to come out before we do that. But I've basically got my idea for what day I want to do each park.

That sounds mean ... but very funny.
Meanwhile, I was terrified that my cc company wouldn't approve the 5K charge because it was the second charge from active.com within such a short period of time. I was all ready to beg fraud protection to approve the charge (thankfully, the credit card company was okay with the charges).

I'm also amazed, coming on 5pm and the half is closer to selling out than Dopey. How fast did Dopey go last year,I'm thinking much faster than today, have we hit the peak on Dopey popularity?I remember many people thinking Dopey would be a one and done for many people after the inagural year and it wouldn't sell out fast or maybe even at all for 2015 which of course was not the case.

And the half just sold out (went online to buy the Race Retreat/Chear Squad).

I know I saw the comment parents don't need separate registration to run with the kids...is that true for even an adult not registered for any race...that they can run with their child?

Maybe they increased the number of Dopey slots this year based on demand?

I got the affirmative email from Chicago!

Congrats! I'm hoping to qualify in the next year or so (in order to BQ I have to run a time faster then the time they use for Chicago so I figure its a two for one deal, I qualify for Boston I also qualify to run Chicago), and bypass the lottery entirely.

its a 95% in 5 hours it will sell out by the end of today so I don't think they have to worry about it not filling up, I think A LOT of people are upset with rundisney ever since w&d and the cancellation of events with no word on if anything is replacing them...there are still plenty of people willing to fork out the money for these races but I think that is the reason for a little bit slower sell out rate right now

as far as I understand it yes any one parent can run with their child
