As of yesterday morning, I have lost 5 lbs on this new eating thing my nutritionist had me on! Now that is a great boost!

I wish I could remember everyone's posts from yesterday because they were so exciting. I'm so impressed and inspired from the effort everyone is making. We are really growing in leaps and bounds aren't we? It amazes me that a groiup of people can influence (for the GOOD) each other the way this group influences one another. I really think we have all made some life long friends here!

Yesterday was a rest day for me. And, I rested where walking was concerned....... BUT I sure as heck didn't rest at home! We painted almost the entire downstairs floor of our house! And it looks so good- and clean! We've only been in this home for about 2 years, and it was a brand new house when we moved in, AND there are only adults living here, but that builder's paint sure gets yucky fast! Now, I feel like I live in a show home!:p I have CLEAN walls again! But it was hard work and I am tired. I think I'll take a nap before my walk today. I need it!

Hope everyone has a nice Labor Day weekend!

I got in an 83 minute walk/run this morning. Only 4 miles ,but it was beautiful. It was misting and about 62 degrees. The trees are beginning to turn colors. I am feeling pretty good about sticking to a plan. I reaaly am working towards peeling off 20 pounds.
Today we are going to build shelving for the garage and get everything organized and put up. It will be so nice to be able to just find things with out a major search.
I have been watching the storm reporting. Sure hope all our Dis friends are safe. Everything else is repairable. Can't believe some of the pictures! WOW!
Enjoy your Labor Day! Train light and have a fun day!!!

Karen: I know what you mean about painting. It really makes your home look fresh and new. I'm always excited when I start a room, but by the end I vow to never paint again:rolleyes: . However, unless we becaome suddenly very wealthy, I'll probably have more painting in my future.

decaff38: I love the cooler weather for walking too!

I haven't been posting lately. I have a bad habit of not posting when I'm having challenges keeping OP and on my walking schedule.

Hopefully the eating will become easier now that DH is joining me in trying to lose weight. Of course, he seems to just have to think about losing weight and, poof, it happens.

I had a great walk today! I started my training over this past week, so I'm still not up to huge distances. I did 4.35 miles in 70 minutes! That's the fastest I've been, including the days that I added jogging in with my walks.

Alright, folks, I'm back... Finally recommitting for real this time. I signed up at the club and now I am all set to go! I feel bad that I haven't been around to support you, but as I mentioned on a different thread, I have had a lot of "life" to deal with. School starts this week and I know that I have to have an outlet for some stress, so hopefully this will make me feel like an all around better person. I have put on weight these past few weeks and am afraid to get on that scale again, but I will do it and be strong. I just hope I didn't lose my five pound clippie!

Great job on keeping motivated all this time, I am really proud of all of you. I am going to make some motivational decor for my room, car and desk this evening... That will make me feel exceptionally guilty for ever driving past Lifetime Fitness!!!

Keep up the awesome work. I will start haggling people for roster info again soon! Looking forward to being a part of the group again, I have really missed you guys!

Keep up the awesome work! You ladies (any gents?) are amazing!

Excited to be moving forward again...
Ashley:wave2:

only here to say howdy-do:cool: today is my rest day. I thought about calling a neighbor for a casual walk tonight, we'll see; it's awfully muggy out here and hot still

great to see you Ashley and tw1nsmom:wave2: :wave2: remember mom that it's most important to post here when you are feeling challenged, i'm always amazed at the positive energetic vibes I get from the training group here:hyper: we all have our ups and downs on this journey, we'll get through it together!

i am glad to report that I've journaled all weekend and so far still have flex points left! whew! that's a first in a very long time! Ashley if you read last week or not? but there is a few of us here on this thread that have totally recommited to our eating plan for the month of Sept, including ME! i'm determined to get back down to my goal weight and STAY this time!! you can do it!

PD to all for a super healthy active week:grouphug:

Hi everyone

Yesterday was supposed to be a crosstraining day for me but I got called into work and never had the chance to get any exercise in other than pushing the ultrasound machine all around the hospital. I was supposed to walk today but they kept me busy at work all night too so I was just to tired and I am on call again tomorrow so not sure I'll get a chance to get anything in then either :( Then my bad stretch of work and call is over and I am vowing to get back on track exercise wise Tuesday for sure. I am doing pretty good with sticking to my better eating though :D I really do need to get more serious about my journaling: I start out so well with writing down what I eat for breakfast but the further I get into the day I just don't seem to stick with it. Does anyone that keeps a food journal have any motivating suggestions? I did sign up to on the Thanksgiving challenge so hopefully that will help me stay motivated too.

Karen Congratulations on losing 5 pounds!! You are really on the right track! You go girl!

decaff Can you send some of that cooler weather down to me in WI. It has been very humid and 85 here the last few days but it is supposed to cool down tomorrow night. Great job getting your workout in even though it was misting.

tw1nsmom Glad to see you back again! Isn't it frustrating how easy the weight seems to come of men. My DH has lost 20 pounds over the last few months without putting a whole lot of effort into it. I'm very happy for him because it got him off his blood pressure meds but it does frustrate me a little too because I am really struggling to loose the 10-15 pounds I'd like to loose before the marathon.

Ashley Glad to see you back again too! As I already posted I gained some weight this summer too so as ohMom said join us that are getting serious with our eating again! Good luck with your student teaching this week, let us know how it goes.

ohMom Great job journaling all weekend! What is your secret to make sure you journal. I'll have to think about you tomorrow and make sure I journal ALL day for a change and that will be a start. We can get this weight off!

Beth I know you haven't posted yet this week but I just wanted to let you know I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as Frances continues to move through. I also hope all is going well with your Mom.

Have a great Labor Day everyone! Keep on moving!

Cheryl :sunny:

Good Monday Morning Everyone,

Yesterday was my rest day from training but I did end up working 12 hours at work. 40% of our student residences moved in yesterday which made for a busy day.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning and tried to get back to sleep but all I kept thinking was if I go out now it will be much cooler than this afternoon (it's projected to get to 85 and muggy here today).

So, I headed out at 7:30 and there was a beautiful strong breeze. I walked for 45 minutes, biked for 10 and then cooled down with a 5 minutes stroll. I clocked 2.25 miles walking. Now, I have a ton of laundry to do, kids to wake up and a shower to take.

Beth and everyone else in the hurricane's way I am praying for you. Hope all is well.

Have a super Labour Day Everyone!!!

Yesterday I got in a good run/walk. Then in the afternoon my DH decided to build shelves in the garage for me to put all our stuff on. They are almost done!! Was carrying wood and standing on ladders all afternoon. He said he thinks my butt is smaller. Nice compliment from a carpenter! Something must be working but I think my scale is broken again(LOL). Today we will finish the shelves and arrange all the stuff in the garage! Should count for weight liffting!!It is pretty rainy and cold here . Hoping this afternoon togo for a bike ride for about 1 hour. Don't know how far it will take me. I need to start a food journal too. I used to do one when I did WW to keep track of points. I just need to find a little notebook to put in my purse and write it down. I just don;t seem to make any progress even though I am very aware of carbs and really have cut out so many things.

Cheryl- Rest first then get back on plan. You worked too hard this weekend!

Little Miss Mickey - Are you all settled in the CIties? Good luck with the start of school . My son is starting this week in St. Cloud. Last year of nursing. What happened to summer this year? We are really hoping for a gorgeous fall. I'm going to attempt a 10K walk/run in Walker on the 25th. It should be beautiful around the lake with the fall colors.

Back to training, slow and steady gets a medal!!
Beckie

Bad news...I've got that sinus congestion, runny nose, stuffy head crud that won't let you sleep. Any tips? I've taken Tylenol Flu, Advil Sinus & Cold, and Advil Cold....nothing is unplugging this except walking....I know I probably shouldn't walk but it's the only thing that lets me breathe out of my nose for a short while. When I get back home, I'm all clogged again. UGH!

Good news...I lost 4 pounds this week! I gave up looking at the scale so my husband and I are in a challenge...first one to lose 20 pounds gets to spend $$$ on anything they want in the new house....He records my weight and lets me know how much I lost...I don't have to worry about the "number" anymore! :) I did pretty well with exercise...walked 4 miles Wednesday, 3 miles, swimming, elliptical, weights Thursday, Friday I cross-trained with bicycle 30 minutes/elliptical 15/strength 15, Saturday was supposed to be my long walk...just couldn't do it...nose and low fever kept me down. Sunday I managed 3 mile walk in 50 minutes and today I did 4 miles in an hour and 10 minutes. Tomorrow is my off day.

Just plugging in and on and we'll all make it to the marathon healthier and wiser! :)

wowser, we really got our mojo going, don't we?:cheer2: :cheer2:

cheryl -- i journal in my PDA -- my DH brought me home his old Palm Pilot when he got an upgraded one from company (he works in IT so we get all the cool toys :)) anyhow - I downloaded a WW journal program from a website and POWIE! there i go! It's quick and portable so it works for me. We got mom a 'used' PDA on ebay for christmas last year, so she could try it before spending too much. I think she likes her journal? it's nice it remembers entries so a couple letters, the entry pops up and I enter it. It has a point calculator and AP calculator too. it's pretty handy, like my own handy-dandy notebook (any Blues Clues parent's out there?)

i will admit I didn't do my planned workout on Sat - just didn't get it going fast enough and very hot and humid here too. But I did bike-ride twice with DD and realized this morning on my powerwalk that I did set the resistance high enough - sore glutties! this morning I went 4.5 miles in 61 mins, followed up with 10 mins of yoga

we're off to a cookout today. i'm taking a veggie tray and my Gardenburger to be grilled along with everyone else's high fat/high point burgers! i'm just starting to feel a little less fluffy and a tiny more sleeker during my walks

have a great holiday all!

Did a 5 mile walk this AM and now cleaning and cleaning. Taking a break - won't get all done today I want - but hey it's a start :teeth:

Some JERK called last night at 1:15 am (oh like 5 times in a row) and his mission was accomplished - if it was to keep me from sleeping well the rest of the night . Okay whine over

I sure liked reading eveyone's committments - helps me to stay focused - while cleaning kitchen cupboards foolishly I watched The Food Network and I only thought about food - whew - glad there is nothing great in the house to scarf-down - so I had salad and a Smart One "drumstick" AND your great comments convinced me - I am done with lunch

Cheryl - My palm was the GREATEST gift (Mother's Day a year ago). Point counting is in "black and white" - no guessing - punch in the foods eaten, calculates pts and flex points too. One program is pts for restaurants too. It is very easy to journal and just becomes a habit. I really like having a calendar/date book too.

Okay off to continue the "removal of dirt" and clutter from within
:teeth:

Hope it is a good holiday for each of you! Keep up the good work !

I did 3 of my 5 miles already today. When I woke up this morning, it was one of those crisp , sunny fall mornings here too- so I decided it would be better to walk most of my walk this morning. So off I went with DH. We took a new route which was a fun change and finished it in 56 minutes. I'm also down almost 3 more lbs- taking my total to 8.5 lbs off in 5 days! I'm so excited, relieved and inspired to keep going on this program.... even though it can sometimes be hard. It's worth the results that I am finally getting after almost 3 months of losing nothing! I'll take my last 2 miles tonight around the river in downtown Portland- maybe DH and I will do dinner down there and then the walk- that should be very enjoyable. We're going into my favorite season- so I think things are looking up!!!

Mom- WOW- you are a plan ahead kind of a girl! That is good thinking on your part. You'll be better able to stay on course that way. WTG on the mileage/time. I'll be screaming from the rafters and you'll hear me all the way over there in Ohio when I make that kind of time!

Tara- I am overly impressed by your efforts- and I say if the only way to clear the sinuses is to walk- then walk away my friend! It sounds to me like you had a very successful week with excercise. Keep up the good work. Unfortuantely - I can't help you with the coughy, headachy thing- but I do hope you feel better really soon!

Beckie- it sounds like you're having a busy weekend too! isn't it great when we get things done in our homes that we've been wanting to do for a while? What a sense of accomplishment!

Susan- you sound like you had quite a busy day yesterday. Maybe we should come up with another term other then "rest day" for when we don't train! It sounds to me like you have a fun job? Is that true? I'll bet it was an exciting day with all those kids coming in yesterday. You and I ahd the same thought patterns this morning! Isn't it nice to get it done in the cool of the morning?

Cheryl- maybe you should get one of those PDA things that Mom was talking about. It sounds like just the thing for you to be able to track your points. I liked the idea of buying one off Ebay. Good for you for staying on your aeting even though you didn't track what you ate! You'll get back to the training before too long- and then all will be well. Hang in there!

Tw1nsmom- the BEST thing you can do for yourself when you're OP is to come here, read and post. We dont' mind if you're on a downer (look at me for the last 2 weeks!)- that's what we're here for. Not just to hear your success's (although those are GREAT to hear!) but also to support you while you go through the tuff times. It helps us to remember and appreciate where we are and where we've been. So- please- don't hesitate to post if you're down. We'll help you get back up. That is what friends are for- and we're all your friends! I'm really happy that you're back.

And that goes for everyone else that hasn't posted in a while!! Come on now...... we need you here!

Beth- how's it going down there??? You know, my mom live in the panhandle of Fl. above Pensecola. Are you any where near there?

Hi all!

Thanks for all of the supportive words everyone. :sunny: They really brighten my day. I made today a rest day so that I could concentrate on getting the kids ready to start school on wednesday. I'm almost done. I just have one more load of laundry to do and a couple of hems to sew. My mom's coming tommorrow to spend the day with us, so I don't want to waste my time with her doing chores.

I'm a little worried about DS's transition into his second year of preschool. I think I talked about this a while ago. He goes to a special needs preschool and we pay for DD to go as a "typically developing" student. He was supposed to be in an integrated classroom this past year, but their idea of integration was a joke. There are supposed to be a lot of changes this year and I fought for some specific things to be put in DS's IEP (individualized education plan). Now I just have to wait and see what they actually do.

I tend to worry a lot. I'm trying to work on that  .

Thanks for listening.

Dawn

I finished my 5 miles today with the final 2 PLUS an extra 1/2 ! Did all 5.5 miles in 1 hour 42 minutes. And I FEEL GOOD! YEAH!!!

Good Tuesday morning!

Thank you to everyone for all the prayers and pixie dust.

We were unscathed by Frances. Never even got a drop of rain although it was a bit windy yesterday and today. Nothing major. We did have a couple of limbs fall in the yard, but we have huge old trees and limbs sometimes fall with no wind, so that's Ok... We were very lucky and we're just keeping everything packed up until we see what Ivan will do.

Karen, I'm also north of Pensacola. Where is your mom? Go due north of Pensacola and we're right before you hit Alabama. When we give directions they usually include "if you see a welcome to Alabama sign...you've gone too far." She and I may be neighbors! Do you ever visit this area??

Thanks to all who have asked about my mom. She seems to have new and different pain each day, but then she will have a day tha she sort of rallies. Today is rally day so we'll make the most of it...

Have agreat day everyone!
~~Beth:wave:
PS I did go for a very short walk this morning....I've got to get it going again or I won't make it through the marathon!!
:flower1: :flower1: :flower1:

Hi everyone:wave2:

Youare all sooo amazing! I love reading your posts, it gives me such motivation:hyper: I will walk today and I may even do a longg one since I need to keep up!

Hi Beth, happy to see the hurricane missed you! Have a wonderful day with dm:sunny:

Karen congrats on your new plan- wow down over 8 lbs yippie:Pinkbounc & walking over 5 miles:bounce:

I was down the jersey shore over the weekend and had some great boardwalk/beach walks however the food was definitely not op:rolleyes: Walked 1.9 yesterday & then additional as we went up & down the boards till we won a Care Bear - I could have bought 20 for the $$ we spent on games:rolleyes:

Any how - have a fantastic Tuesday & keep training:wave:

Hi friends!

So glad to see that everyone is continuing to make progress.

Well I have been busy for sure! Not walking around though. Finally, I hope to be through with the interferences as DH is on the mend with his new hip replacement.

happy tuesday to everyone :) i did the SFFZ workout this morning with my friend Denise ;) i hope mom doesn't ask for this one back for a while:scratchin

my eating has a bit more to be desired today  oldest DD stoved her middle finger quite badly Sunday so I took her to pediatrician today and then onto Children's outpatient for an x-ray; thankfully no fx, but it was lunchtime when we were done. We went to Subway and I got a sub off the lower fat ones; but forgot my trusty PDA (DUH!) then after a stop at a farm market for a bushel of pears to can this week:teeth: I ran her through McDs and we used a buy one get one McFlurry coupon! OMGosh I about had an anxiety attack when I figured my pts up when I got home! then she baked chocolate chip cookies!! try one, please mom, they're really good........................yadda yadda yadda. i'm done eating for the day! only zero pts veggies for me from here out! good thing I came here and read and stopped any more tragedy!

tomorrow is my WI day, i'm none too happy with me. now i have to remember to TAKE my PDA with me when I leave the house!

anyhow --- great job WISH walkers, this is so a thread of positive energy, good attitudes, and motivation!

Just wanted to report that I was up and treadmilling early today and did a few other exercises and then it was back to the Curves routine for me tonight after work.

I am pooped on my way to "hit the hay" but just got a good dose of positiveness from all you WISHers - so I am for sure setting my alarm and will be up and moving in the early AM :teeth: not sure what I will do, but for sure it's not the program that ohMom borrowed - doesn't sound like I will try that one again for awhile :teeth: (now how could a mother said to her DD - give me back my workout tape? Nope - just keep it, I want to be a part of your success ::yes::

.... forgot my PDA (Duh!) I ran her through McDs and we used a buy one get one McFlurry coupon! OMGosh I about had an anxiety attack when I figured my pts up when I got home! then she baked chocolate chip cookies!! try one, please mom, they're really good........................yadda yadda yadda. i'm done eating for the day! only zero pts veggies for me from here out!

And BTW - you should have called me when you forgot your PDA - I have one or I could have quickly checked on the computer using KathyTx's handy dandy point counter - next time - try that instead of "freaking" in front of my DGD - ::yes:: BUT very considerate of you to try the cookie and then only have veggies - oh the things a mom will do  Love you, mean it :teeth:

Gotta go - have a craft mess to clean up in the kitchen and then it's time for bed

I am so glad to read that our FL friends didn't have many problems - thinking about each of you as I read and I just know that we will all do a very good job in January!

Cyber "high five" everyone -

I managed about 1 1/2 miles while DH did PT today! I am sooo happy about that. Now I need to get the eating better part in this along with a lot more moving. I do feel good about today though.
