I'll be participating in the 1/2 marathon this January -- I read that we must board the bus NO LATER than 4 a.m for the 6 a.m. start.

Sleep is very important to me and I'm wondering if I can catch a cab that early in the morning and save myself maybe 45-60 mins of bus riding time? Do cabs run all night?

First, congrats on the 19 lbs lost!!

Second...you might be risking getting stuck in traffic if you take the cab much later than 4 am. Marathon morning at WDW is tough. But when you consider that they are trying to herd 20,000+ runners, plus the volunteers/race crew for an on time 6 am start, it makes it a little more understandable. I honestly can't recall how long the bus rides have been the last 2 years (stayed at the Poly each time)...but even in the busses, we end up sitting in traffic a little while. I ate my pre-race breakfast (powerbar, banana, cereal, whatever) on the bus the last 2 years.

Another option is to stay at OKW...then you can just walk across the street to the race start...but then you miss the area for the clothing drop-off bags, in case you want some warm clothes for at the finish (which would be totally dependent on the weather).

Good luck!!
