Any AP holders/marathoners out there that will be receiving the Monday ticket? Does it expire? Can we trade it for something else? A dinner or some mouse ears?

I don't think you can exchange it for anything but if you get the ticket and don't use it I am pretty sure you can use it towards your renewal. I know other unused tickets are like that but I'm not sure if these will be an exception or not. I could see them restricting it but it doesn't hurt to ask at the window for something else.

Fairly certain the the Marathon Monday pass is a one park, one day only pass that expires at the close of business Janaury 10.

Coach is right. It isn't really a free ticket per se - just a free one day, one park for that Monday only. You can't trade it, but if you are really nice, you could probably gift it to some family purchasing tickets for that day before they went through the gate. I think a lot of us will be in the same boat because we purchased park hoppers. So, that is what I plan on doing - giving it to someone.

Actually that will probably not work. When I got my GAD-GAD pass they fingerprinted me when they game me the pass. I suspect they will do the same with this pass so people can't give them to others.

I have a 10 day hopper but have the no expiration option so I'll be using the free day and will save the remaining 8 days for future trips. I find buying a long park hopper with no expiration is the cheapest way to go since they always raise prices.

That is a great idea. Last time I went to Disney the fingerprint system wasn't working so I hope it won't be now! I can always wait to use the hopper.

I am pretty sure that it is only for Monday and only for the runner. You have to have your ID to get the "ticket", so it is most likely going to be like the GAD passes where you have to be the one to use it and it has to be Monday. Really stinks for us AP holders who can't even use it to save a day on a pass:sad2:

I agree that they need to do more for FL AP holders. They depend on us to come regularly when the other tourists aren't around. It was nice when they had the promotion where you got a free ticket on your birthday and if you were an AP, you got a gift card around $75.

Frankly I suspect that the marathoners will receive some sort of voucher in their race packets like for the Everest Challenge. That race gave a "free" day at Animal Kingdom, though it was simple a free one day one park pass that wasn't tied to fingerprints, ID, or anything else. We didn't use our passes because we were AP holders so we gave the vouchers to friends who weren't doing the race and they were able to use with no issue.

This most likely won't be the way they do it because you have to finish the marathon to get into the park free on Monday, not just sign up for it or even just start it.

Coach Charles brought up on a previous thread that they will probably check the results against your ID to confirm you have a time.

All you had to do was take your photo ID, the letter/card attached, and your medal to any ticket booth. Once verified, the card was activated. They did not verify any name or finish time via their computers. All they did was check your ID to the name on the letter.

A friend who was already an AP holder, got his card activated. He then handed my other friend his card. She walked through the turnstile, where she was fingerprinted for the free day. They did not ask to see ID or medal at the gate turnstile.

Yes, it would have been possible to sell it to someone, but it was a nice of my friend to say here use this, to my other friend. I know of a few other non-runners who got into the parks using the same method.

Another friend who bought the Premier WDW/DL annual pass on Sunday, asked if he could apply the free day towards his new dual coast AP. He was told no, even if he was buying it on Marathon Monday. It had no cash value other than getting one person into one park that day. He ended up not redeeming it to give or sell to anyone because the ticket line was too long in the afternoon.

Jeff, I was really surprised at the way they did it since it seemed easy to give away. From a guest perspective that is good but usually Disney doesn't think that way. I was way off.

I was wondering how they ended up handling it. We had to leave very early Monday morning to avoid the havoc a tiny bit of snow created here in Atlanta so I didn't get to give mine away. :( There is always next year.
