Marathon - Florida Keys- Accomodations

Can anyone recommend a clean, waterfront (either side) motel in Marathon Key? We do not desire an expensive resort.

Have you tried looking for a house rental. If you search for vacation rentals, you can find a bunch of places that rent out nice houses. They range from 900/week to 4000/week depending on number of beds, size of house, dates you are going, etc. I'm sorry I can't help you with any hotels/motels.

Does it need to be marathon? How about islamorada? Also- look at vrbo.com...there are a ton of places on there. Islamorada is our absolute favorite place and it's great for kids, too. The only problem is that there are not a lot of places with a true beach. I would be happy to fill you in on our favorites.

Not sure what your definition of expensive is, but Banana Bay has been recommended to me more than once, even by friends who used to live in Marathon. http://www.bananabay.com/

Another place that is truly beautiful is Hawks Cay resort on Duck Key. We did the dolphin encounter program there a few years ago. It is pricey however, so it may not be an option for you. www.hawkscay.com

I would recommend renting something at Key Colony Beach. We stayed at a 'resort' just outside Marathon last March and spent some time driving around KCB. Next trip we will be staying there! Any questions, just ask!
