Mar. 19, 2009 Wonder: Aye, But We're Loved by Our Mummies and Dads

Hi girls, I just checked the weather for Orlando, looks like it's going to be in the 60s the night we arrive at Orlando, and noticed the average high in March is only mid 70s. Well for those of us from TX, this is pretty "cold"!! But I have seen pictures people posted for Jan and Feb trips wearing shorts and short sleeves. Does anyone have experience in March weather? Kids will be disappointed if they cannot get into the pool.

Also, how about the weather in Nassau and Castaway Cay? I still haven't booked anything yet because I am afraid the water will be too cold. I did order wetsuits for both of my boys, but can someone please give me some assruance PLEASE??? I am so afraid the water will be cold and they will not have fun. :upsidedow

Jessie, where did you order wetsuits for the kids? That is a great idea! I grew up in Orlando and the weather varies anywhere from 60-90 degrees. Nassau's temperatures will be pretty similair with Orlando. When i was in Orlando a few weeks ago i wore jeans and llong sleeves. Let's all start thinking HEAT WAVE:headache:

Yes, we have been to WDW at all different times of the year. March can be cool in the morning and evenings. But, yes you can wear shorts and t-shirts in the afternoon. My DH and DS's went swimming in both January and March. It was too cold for me. The pools are "supposed to be" heated. I guess I just like mine to be like bath water. :) Don't worry though... no matter what the temp is...we will ALL still have fun. :woohoo:

Molly,

Hi! Yes, we are at the Poly. I just now "told" ;) dh that we were going to eat at the Poly that night and do whatever it is we are meeting up to do afterward. whew. Since this is all so new to me, I have no idea what wishes is...I'm assuming it's the fireworks display? I've heard the Poly beach is an awesome place to watch the fireworks. I'm excited to be there. woohoo.

~vivian

Hey Viv! I hope you get to feeling better soon! Here's a hug.

Yeah! I am glad ya'll will be at the Spectromagic/Wishes meet, too. The more, the merrier.

Good luck with the birthday party. (You've had alot of birthday planning lately, haven't you?)

Molly, since we booked the Thursday night firework cruise for Dylan's birthday, I may want to wait till then to let the kids see the fireworks. But we will see...I haven't planned out all activities yet. I will let you know sometime next week!

Sorry you will not be able to catch up with us. Ya'll have fun on the fireworks cruise though! Look forward to seeing you on the "Big" boat.

Yes, wishes is the fireworks show at MK. I'm confused as to when they are...I thought the spectromagic parade was at 9pm and wishes at 10pm....hmmmm I will look into that a bit more.

Thanks Molly! I am sure you are right. The CM that I talked to on the phone (when I was making my Kona ressie) said the fireworks were at 9pm that night. I figured they were not until 10pm, because that is when the park closes. So, I guess we get to see both Spectro and Wishes! Woo hoo!

Kim, I think wearing the green mickeys is a great idea for this meet too.

Look forward to seeing all of you. :cheer2:

Stepody,

This is for you too. I was going through my list of things needed and while you can find this stuff on the board I thought I'd make it easy for you guys to find.

One thing i read in the passporter guide was that there is a concession stand outside the theatre for the nightly shows. Candy, drinks, etc are SOLD there. The book recommends stopping by a buffet to pick up snacks for the show. Thus being said, ziploc baggies are a must! We also always pack our own water containers and a sharpie marker (to mark such snacks and other items).:thumbsup2

Thanks for this tip, Aliswa...do you think the Disney Cruise Police will say anything to us, if we do this? :lmao: No, really...I plan on bringing on all different size baggies. You never know when you might need them.

Kim, OMGosh! I did receive a very nice packet from you and I've been meaning to Thank you. It seems I'm getting sick every other week. I'm sick, yet again. Plus, my bro. decided to have a huge surprise bday party for my mom's 70th bday right before we leave (!) and I have to work on 70 yrs. of photos! ohhhhh, I'm so tired and Disney has kind of been forced on a back burner. But, I'm starting to get nervous that I don't have the loose ends for Disney tied up yet.

I haven't subscribed to him yet. (TG mike) I guess I should do that in the next couple of days. Is it worth it???? I haven't found anyone to tell me if it really is.
Glad to hear the packet arrived, but sorry to hear you've been sick. Good luck with your mom's party!

TG Mike is worth it if you have lots of time to read through pages and pages of info on the web. His site gives you an "automated vacation planner (AVP)," but it's not really a go-here-first-go-there-next kind of thing. He does provide sample itineraries that you can dig up, but the AVP doesn't include them on your main page and it takes some navigating to get to the sample tour plans. The AVP is more like "Today is your 90-day mark and you can start making your dining reservations now." Really helpful if you start planning several months out, but in your case, I'd recommend the book "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" instead so that you can bring it with you and read on the way. The back of the book gives recommended touring plans, which really help you map out your day step by step and avoid the worst of the lines.

Hi Aunt Stepody- I can't reply to your message! But, we would love to catch up with your kids too! I'll have to give you more detail, but my husband and I are in a similar field to you! Long story though! Hopefully we'll see everyone at the sail away party, if not before somewhere on the ship!!:thumbsup2

Have you booked any time for Ruby at Flounders yet? I am at a loss of what to book for fear of the baby missing out on something!

Yeah, I've booked 10 hours for her. I think CC is the only thing I think she'll really have fun at.

Allison, I got it from Amazon, quite pricy, here is the link, but I want to let them get into the water and I don't have to worry about they getting cold.

I also found a great water shoeson OneStepAhead, but they are in back order until 3/13, so I had to go with alternatives on Amazon.

We all love waters!! But we are all so don't like cold weathers, especially me!!

See you all on the big boat!! Can't wait. I may even wear the green micky ear (just the ear with 2 pieces of magnets) while in the park, so if you see an Asian family with 2 boys, let me know that you are one of us on this board!!:rotfl:

Heh Guys!!! Just wanted to let you know that we probably won't be able to meet up with you until we're in the boarding area, we're not arriving in Orlando until late mon. night and then tues and wed, we'll be with the in-laws. I'm going to try my best to be at the port between 10 and 11 am. We'll be the stressed family with the 2 boys bouncing off the walls!!! I can't wait to meet everyone!!!!

Is anyone doing the beach thing on their own in Nassau, I've been researching it and we're thinking we might give it a try, they're not too far from the port.

Hi I want to let you all know that it is much cheaper to get those glow sticks at Michael's than on Oriental Trading. I almosted put in my order at Oriental when I found those $1 tubes at Michael's. It comes in 15 pieces per tube in a sturdy tube, with connectors. So 1 makes a bracelet, 3 actually makes a necklace. It is SO MUCH cheapier than the prices on Oriental (which already cheap) of $25 for 50 pieces.

Just thought I'd share this info if you don't already know!! :surfweb:

Ok.....lets all get our heads together and pray for warmer temps.........I did a 15 day outlook (I know a lot can change between now and then) and Orlando is going to be in the upper 60's. I believe Nassau is going to be mid 70's. Yikes!!!! Time to change up the packing and throw in pants. I was afraid this was going to happen. Upper 60's isn't too bad for mid-day at the parks, but a little chilly for swimming and evenings.:sad2:

I have Orlando and Plano on my google home page, and it is so sad to see that it is actually a lot warmer here than Orlando in the next few days!! Hope things will change soon!!:upsidedow

Sigh. Guess we'll be packing some layers, then. The WDW pools are supposed to be heated to 80 degrees, so it shouldn't be too cold once you're in the water. (It's getting out of the pool that really gets you, though.) In other news, I bought my magnet ink jet paper last night and swung by Home Depot for Alien Green Mickey Heads on my lunch break today. Woo hoo! :woohoo:

I am on my way to Michaels today with my 40% off coupon!:wizard:

You are so smart to remember your Michael's coupon. I went to Hobby Lobby to get the magnet paper and realized my 40% coupon was sitting at home, on my desk. So frustrating!

Speaking of saving money, I just saw this in my AllEars newsletter regarding a sale at Disney World. Not sure if this applies to the cruise as well, but wouldn't that be nice?
AllEars® learned that there is a merchandise sale going on at select locations and on select merchandise for guests now through March 27, 2009. Look for signage about the sale, which includes select baseball hats, Big Figurines, jewelry, plush, timepieces and more.
