Mar. 19, 2009 Wonder: Aye, But We're Loved by Our Mummies and Dads

Vivan, here is the link to the pirate map and other cruise related images, one bad thing is it's all Magic.

Since I blended the map into the background by making it transparent at 50%, I added the Mickey pirate image seperately so that it will still be clear. Here is a link to that Mickey image.

I can't wait to see yours too!! I've been doing digital scrapbooking for a while, but never have much time to do what I wanted to do. It is a lot of fun!!! :woohoo:

Jessie,
thanks so much for the links to your magnet and autograph books! They look awesome. I hope I have some free time before we leave to work on an autograph book. I'm cutting out the mickey heads during my break time at work.

party: We look forward to meeting you next wednesday on the fireworks cruise. Don't forget to email me your cell number and i'll be sending you ours as well. When do you leave for WDW?

Hello ladies!

DH injured his back again. We are going to the doctor today. We are hoping he will still be able to make the trip. We have to make "The" decision before tomorrow, because we are approaching the timeframe of not being able to get any money back. We have all been so looking forward to this trip. If you don't mind...could you say a prayer for him? Thanks.

Aww I hope everything works out!!! I will def. keep him in my prayers!!! Here's to pxie dust!!!!

Hello Everyone!! It's been a while since I have checked in. I have been working on a fish extender. I wanted to make one before our last cruise last year, but I didn't sew then, however I do now.

Stuff061.jpg

I have also made several outfits for my daughter to wear for the cruise and the land portion of our trip. Let's just hope she will wear them!!

I am almost packed...makes it feel so much more real!!! :yay:

We will not be able to make the meet on Monday, because the kids still don't know that we are doing the cruise yet. I do look forward to meeting everyone on board!

We are really on the countdown to the cruise! We are looking for kids the same age so we can say "hi" in advance. Teddy (DS) is 8 and in 2nd grade. He loves basketball, football, video games and reading Magic Tree House books. Emmy (DD) is 5 1/2. She is going into kindergarten next year. She loves having playdates and has recently discovered Hannah Montana. Gracie (DD) will be 3 within 30 days of the cruise and my fingers are crossed that the kids club will take her since she is long potty trained.

We have been on 2 other Disney cruises. The 4 day Wonder over Halloween 2006 and the 3 day Wonder February 2008.

Would love to know if other kids the same age are checking into the kids' club.

We have an almost 5 year old girl...she turns 5 in April. We plan on using the kids club as much as she wants to use it...which I'm sure will be most of the time. Welcome, and we'll see you aboard.!

OK, let's solidify the details for our 2 "official" meets.

I think our land meet is fairly straightforward. We will watch Wishes from the Poly beach near the Volcano Pool on Monday 3/16. Wishes will start at 10 that night. I plan to arrive around 9:45-ish. Anything I'm leaving out?

I'm slightly less clear about our sea meet. It sounds like we've agreed on Deck 10 during the Sail Away party. But Deck 10 is pretty big and I'm afraid we'll spend the whole party wandering around, searching for fellow Home Depot Lime Green Mickey wearers. Looking at my Deck Plans map, I see tables and chairs near the Outlook Bar. Is this area adults-only? If not, would this be a good place to meet? Or should we pick a spot where we can look down and see the Sail Away party? Suggestions?

Well, I've never been on the Wonder, so I'm not sure about the Outlook bar. If we want to be in on the sail away action and see Pt. Canavaral then I believe we need to be starboard. (if you are standing and look towards the front of the ship then starboard in on your right....learned that on my last cruise.....an easy way to remember is if you are facing forward then port and left both have 4 letters in them.) What about overlooking the goofy pool on starboard side? That is where the large video screen is and I'm pretty sure where the party is located. We can pretty much see everything. Does this sound good to everyone?:woohoo:

Lee I was just looking again at all your pictures from the last cruise today. I"m so excited! I'll start packing tomorrow for our trip. We're not doing a land package only the cruise but it is a surprise for my kids as well!

Cute fish Extender!

see you soon!

How did it go today??? I'm praying extra hard. I really want to meet you since we are nearly neighbors.

I'm lightly toying with the cancel part myself because we can't seem to get well here. I'm still sick--but too busy to "rest"--and dh came home from work today with 102.5 degree fever. He's been asleep since then. DD seems to be toying with the idea of getting sick. (!) ugh.

Hope you got a good report today and I hope he is feeling better.

Pool sounds good to me to meet on deck 10. I won't have the alien green mickey head as most of the mickey heads were gone when I went to Home Depot. :headache:

I have not even started to pack and we are suppose to leave on Sun! doh!

Has anyone taken the Disney transport from airport to hotels and from hotels to ship? I need to know if dd will need a car seat. I know on buses they usually don't and we won't have a private car during this trip.

Well, tomorrow is my designated Disney-Doin'-Day. It will be a long one so I'd better get to sleep.

Thank you so much!!! I wonder if my princesses along with another one will actually stay on my door. ;)

The first thing I did with the digital scrapbooking was to make a book of the life of my dd, in 2 weeks, for christmas presents, not ever having done anything like it and knowing nothing about photoshop. (I have CS3) It was tough, but I did it and everyone loved the book.

You did a really great job on the FE. So, now that you know how, are you going to sell them??

I'm in awe of people who can sew. I try, but, I seem to be so much better at other things. I'd love to be able to sew for dd. I did manage to make a beanbag for our kitty a couple of weeks ago. :rotfl: No, seriously, that's the extent, right now, of my sewing talents.

Mom is sick we are hoping it is just a cold but I would hate for her to be sick during any part of our trip! Seems like we have a lot of that going around Vivian I hope your family gets well soon, Aunt Stepbody I hope your DH is feeling better!! Hold on tight it is amlost time for disney!!! Oh and p.s. I know nothing about Deck 10 but I like the idea of being on the left side so that we can see us pull out of the port too.

sorry everybody's been sick! start getting lots of rest and drink your oj. I still don't feel like we've gotten clarity on the meet and greet during the sail away. Are there any past "wonder" cruisers that can shed light on this?

I read in many cruise tip threads to "bring your own water on board". But isn't all food inclusive in the package already, which means we can go to the Scoops anytime to pick up water, snacks or water? Or does "available" mean they are available for purchase?

Also, we have second seating for dining. What if we want to go grab something first at the buffet, can we do that? or are we on a kind of quota that you can only use your meal one place or the other?

And lastly, the only Palo reservation available is 1st night 8:30 or last night 6:30. But I don't know what our restaruant rotations is yet, can someone tell me which restraunt is a MUST have?

Thanks, Jessie

You can go to Scoops and Pluto's Dog House anytime, and there is no limit. Nor is there a quota on meals, but I think there isn't a dinner buffet on the 3-day cruises. Beach Blanket Buffet is a sit-down alternative restaurant for dinner.

Getting to the water, good fresh drinking water (reverse osmosis purified) is available at the beverage station and in the dining rooms. But if you prefer bottled water or want to bring bottled water off the ship with you on your excursions, that is where bringing your own can save you some serious money. DCL sells a bottled water package on board, but it is pricey. I think we're going to bring our own wine and beer, but we'll stick to the water from the beverage station.

Each restaurant has its charms, but I think Parrot Cay is the one I'd consider to be most expendable. We had missed Triton's on our last cruise due to Beth's 2-year-old major cranky fit (and we've never let her live that down ;) ), so that's a must-do for Chuck and me this time. Animator's is neat from a technical aspect, but when we first ate there, we were too wrapped up in the meal and conversation to be as "wowed" by the decor as I'd thought we'd be. Frankly, it seemed more impressive on The Travel Channel. But that's the one that's the most "Disney" and the restaurant I really want the kids to experience. I'm really hoping we have Parrot Cay scheduled for the second night, since that's when we have our Palo ressie. I guess we'll know for sure one week from right now!

Thank you so much Kim!! That really helps. I have ordered Costco water to our hotel, so I think I am going to take whatever left after our land trip on to the boat!!

We are leaving in 2 days!! :dance3:

See you there!!

According the Passporters guide to Disney cruising regarding the snack bar outside the movie theatre " if you like to snack during your movies, a stand outside the theatre sells packaged snacks, bagged popcorn and beverages. To save money, order room service and bring it with you or take a detour up to deck 9's snack counters."

We always bring our own reusable water bottles. That way we can fill up at the buffets and carry with us throughout the day. According to my guide book there is Topsiders/ Beach Blanket buffet (one is one Wonder the other on magic). We also have second seating, so we might grab a light snack before the show to hold everyone over until the main course. Does your Travel agent have Palo reservations already for you? I've looked on disney's web site every day for the past month and have not seen any availability. I also called Disney about dinner rotation. The Agent told me we would not know our rotation until checking into our room. The dining cards will be in our cabin. From what i've read, the consenses is that Parrot Cay is the restaurant most miss.

REgarding the sail away party my passporter guide states "make time to go up to deck 10 around 500pm and watch the scenery slide by as your leave port....one of the best places to watch your ship's progress is from deck 10 forward, near the wide world of sports courts. Or visit deck 9 forward to watch the bridge crew on the wing."

Sorry to be so long winded but i just wanted to shed some light!

Alison, thanks for the info!!

As for Palo, I checked today, they still have 8:30 for the first night open, don't know why you can't see it. Good luck! Jessie.
