During our upcoming trip to the world in October my friend really wants to visit Old Town (located on west irlo bronson highway) Im not very happy about this excursion away from the resort but I will be nice and I have to compromise so I will go along...We're planning on taking a few hours either out of our day or night and go there. Since we are staying on the WDW property I wont be renting a car this would mean I have to take a taxi to get to Old Town...Does anyone know about how far Old Town is from the WDW resort??? When I did it on MapQuest it said it was 27 miles away and would take 33 minutes to get there...This seeems to be wrong  By looking at a map of the Orlando area it seems much closer...I put in the exact address of the Pop Century Resort with directions to the Old Town address...I want to satisfy my friends curiousity with Old Town by visiting but in order to get there I would like to know how much its going to cost for a cab ride? I know the approxiamate rates for a cab ride per mile but dont know the exact miles to and from...

While on this topic...Does anyone know the distance between Universal studios and the WDW resort?? Since Im a Jimmy Buffett fan I usually like to visit City Walk one night for Margaritaville...

Thanks,,,I appreciate any information anyone has

:D

Are you referring to Old Town Kissimee or Orlando? 27 miles would be right for Orlando, also it's about 1/2 hour in traffic to Universal. I think you mean Kissimee, it's pretty close. THe only time I have ever gone was on Friday or Saturday nights when they had the Street Rod drive in and show. I think there is more to do there at night now.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I think I mean Kissimmee, at least thats what I used for the address of Old Town...Im talking about Old Town with the big ferris wheel in all the pictures...Ive never been before only seen pictures and read a little about it....So, you really think its 27 miles away? Thats further than the Orlando airport??? I dont even think Universal is that far??? I sure could be wrong:confused:

Thanks!

It took 10 minutes to get there from AKL, so it is close to that part of WDW, but remember, WDW is huge!!!! The ferris wheel is new to me, but I saw it in August. It would be fun to go and meet your friend, probably a 10 dollar cab ride.

Its so great to see you!!! How the heck are ya??? Ive been back on board for about a month now, mostly over on the "Trip Planning" boards..And Im always confused when trying to figure out what questions to post where?? And now after 2 years im finally planning my next trip! So, Ill be seeing you around more often..I have to stay away from the community board, The Dis gets me in enough trouble with all the posting..You see, when Im on here I tend to ignore EVERYTHING and EVERYONE around me:teeth:

Take care, talk soon,
your long lost friend,

Chris

It took some searching but I found a webpage with their address and phone number

http://oldtown.orlandofanatic.com/

Address: 5770 W. U.S. Highway 192 - Orlando, Florida 34746

Phone Number: 407.396.4888

I tried their "official site" but it wasn't working.

Thanks! Im gonna check it out! So far, Its me, my friend and my Mom traveling so hopefully we'll find something that could be fun for all of us at Old Town. I almost hope she doesnt like it then I can tell her 'I told you so!!"
:teeth: But that wouldnt be very nice:teeth: Just kidding...Im all about Disney and EVERYTHING Disney even though Orlando has all kinds of diversions other then WDW...

Try the Rand McNally website:
http://www.randmcnally.com/
Their directions always seem a little more direct to me.
Someone once told me that mapquest is paid a fee to route you past sponsored establishments when possible e.g. Burger King ect. that why they dont always give you the best route.

I think it worked, using the randmcnally directions now it says only 6 miles and 11 minutes...this time I didnt put in Pop Century's direct address, i dont think it took the street address,,,I punched in the zip code and city only...

Thanks again!
