Hi everyone

We might be changing our travel date this year from Christmas to October, to fit in with a friends wedding. For anyone who's travelled in October, whats the weather like please? I was sort of dreading going in December and having to wear ear muffs! And crowd levels - how comparable are they to May, which is when we usually travel?

Also, how soon do the put the Halloween decs up - If I'm not going to see it decorated for Christmas then I'd like to see something special! What sort of dates do the Halloween parties run on - is it all October? The food and wine festival at Epcot is on in October, right?

Thanks!!:goodvibes

Hi,

Sorry the bad news is I can only advise on the weather - the good news is the weather is perfect in October, low 80s and not usually a high volume of rainfall. :)
It certainly won't be winter in temperature, may be slightly cooler in the morning and evening - just take a cardigan or two but you really have nothing to worry about overall.

October is my favourite time to visit Florida :sunny:

Great weather - I know nothing's guaranteed, but we've always found October weather to be comfortably warm/hot without the humidity associated with some months, and the evenings stay warm too. I have visited only once in May and I think it was warmer in the day but cooler in the evenings than our October visits.

October crowds are very manageable, but I don't know how they compare to May (we didn't visit the parks during my only May trip). The Food & Wine Festival is a great additional attraction - this year it will run Oct 1 to Nov 14 2010.

As Johnny says teh weather in Oct is perfect, its our fave month to go, very similar to May.

Halloween decs start to go up from end of August, we came home 31st August and they were already well underway. Yes food and wine festival is on in oct also.

we're also going in Oct this year for the 1st time. We have been in july and set before. The halloween decs will be up as we seen them last year in Sept. I am told that the crowds are quite low and that usually the weather is lovely and hot with a few thunderstorms. Everyone seems to have positive comments about october so lets hope they are right

we always go in oct & the weather has always been great.
the crowds are very manageable, which is a plus!
please go to a MNSSHP,you will love it:)

Thanks everyone! I'm hoping she books the wedding now!!!

Actually, if we do go in Oct we will probably change resorts to take advantage of the free dining - is the Saratoga Springs offer still on - it was 42% off plus free table service, wasn't it?

It was really hot this October we were there 30th sept - 14th oct, it hit record highs a few days and was v.v humid, but from what I have read on here this was just random weather!

Ride waits were great - no need for park touring, we went to fantasmic and it didn't even fill up!

We loved mnsshp - if you go in October make sure you get tickets!

I would definitely go in October again! This year was a little too hot for me some days, but as Gemma said, even the floridians were telling me it was unaturaaly hot and humid.

Crowds were fine, and we love MNSSHP. We arrived on the 1st and the Halloween spirit was well underway. :) I wish I could go this October!

We have been in May, June, August, Sepember, October, November and December and OCTOBER wins easily

The food and wine festival at Epcot is on in October, right?

Oooh, Sonya - you're gonna have a field day at all those Festival booths! I'll be patiently waiting for your dining reviews. :worship:

BTW, October is our favourite time at WDW, too. :thumbsup2

Oct/Nov is our favourite time too, and the weather is normally great.
However just to add a bit of balance you can't guarantee the weather will always be great. It is still officially hurricane season, and one year we caught the edge of a hurricane, and it was windy, cloudy and cool for a few days.
In 2005 a friend of mine was due to fly to Miami on the same weekend we normally fly out, but Hurricane Wilma caused his flight to be cancelled.
Actually last Nov at the end of our trip, when Hurricane Ida started forming there were watches/warnings on the news. Fortunately it avoided most of Florida and we got away without problems in the end...
