Mansions or AB at POR?

We are staying at POR for the first time in June. Any recommendations on staying in the Mansions or Alligator Bayou? Two adults and two teens...

We prefer the AB section although we've never stayed in the Mansions due to needing a trundle bed. To me the AB section is more conveniently located - Food Court, etc. The landscaping is beautiful in the AB section also.

With my Mom, she loved the Mansions, with DH and the family loved AB. My kids preferred AB. More casual, great free form pools......just depends on your kids. If boys, absolutely AB...........Mansions are more feminine and formal. Felt both were equally convenient to all, just a matter of theme.

If you're looking for theme and atmosphere, go with AB. The Mansions are very boring, they don't have that wonderful atmosphere that AB does.

We stayed in the mansions this past Feb. We LOVED it, me and my husband and 2 sons. I think the theming is great! It's very Southern and Gone with the Wind-like. We are very spoiled and used to staying in the deluxe hotels (Poly, AKL, WL YC and the Swan), but we will be staying here again this December. I never thought that a moderate would live up to the deluxe, but it did.

We have stayed at POR several times....about 50-50 with mansions and AB. I like them both the same (and like them very much!). My PIL like the mansions better. When we were in the mansions we were usually closer to things than in AB.
