We've (or should I say "I've") been planning this trip for almost 11 months now, starting shortly after last year's trip. When planning, it's nice to leave some time open to spontaneity, but it's also nice to have some type of general plan. I was right on the phone 90 and 60 days out to get the prime dining PS's, called back several times to change our hotels (Hyatt Orlando Airport 1st night, Yacht Club for 3 days, Poly for 6 days) reservations when discount codes came out, or called the airline when lower fares were available. Then came September 11 and everything changed.

It started about 2 weeks ago when Delta called to tell us that our flight to/from Boston/Orlando had been cancelled. We were originally supposed to fly out at 8:00pm the day before Thanksgiving - now they have us rescheduled to 10:30 am. Impossible! We've all got school and work that day. Our return flight was supposed to leave at 5:00pm, giving us a full day in Florida, now we're leaving at 12:00! Why would I want to spend the night just to leave in the morning? The reservationist told us that those were the only non-stops available on those days! Well we made some changes. Now, we are leaving via Manchester, NH at 4:20pm, with a 1.5 hour layover in Atlanta, and returning around they same time, also with a layover. I guess that will be OK, since Delta has also cut all meals on flights - after all, the kids will need to eat dinner! Speaking of meals, with the cut-backs at Disney, we are one of the ones being uprooted from the Yacht Club Galley for Thanksgiving dinner due to it's closing - nicely transplanted to the Yacht Club Convention Center for more $$! Thank you but no! We'll eat dinner at the Brown Derby for less $$. Since no more early entry, lost several PS for breakfasts, including the Garden Grill, which is altogether no longer serving breakfast! Despite all these changes - we still can't wait to be there on the 21st! The magic may have gotten a little "lost" along the way, but for this family, it still shines bright!

Wow, lots of changes happening there...Looking forward to reading your report and finding out how your trip went....

Lots of changes caused by 9/11, not all of them good or convenient. I'm looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip.
