Mannheim Steamroller Holiday Concert

However, when the concert started, in the section right in front of the stage, nearly everyone remained standing and blocked the view of the section behind them. There was a great deal of shouting from people in the section just behind them "Sit down! Sit down!" . . . and the security CMs and staff did absolutely nothing. After about 10 - 15 minutes, the people in the back gave up shouting and a lot of people just left after literally no one in the front sat down.

IMO, could have been handled much better.
To my knowledge, this is the only concert held at the Universal Music Plaza that anyone sits down for the actual show. I've been to quite a few Mardi Gras and summer concerts and no one sits except before the show so they stake out their place. Most people know this is standing room only but I guess an exception is made for Steamroller.

Was there last year - everyone was sitting quietly on the ground. The grass is a rubber turf, so it is softer than the ground but not that much.

We did see people who sat down outside of monster cafe and got a table and chairs.

Honestly the concert was not that good. We went back to the Hard Rock that night and was sitting on the outdoor bar area and there were 2 people there with the steamrollers, they asked us what we thought of the show and I said "It lacked Umph, not much energy."

They said that the band felt the same exact way, that this was not a good show / performance. They just got into town that weekend - so maybe they were doing a bit too much "Rocking" in the warm Florida weather the night before. ;)

Hope the next day they were better, or they are good this year :)

The concerts usually begin between 8:00 and 8:30pm on the following dates: December 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23 and here's the best part...the concert is included in your park admission so there is NO additional cost for the concert.
The concerts are held at the Universal Music Plaza inside the Studios. It's standing room only...no seating.

I thought Universal closed at 7pm on Dec 8th. Are the park hours later on the weekends in December? Gosh, we wanted to see Blue Man Group on that night but I think I'd almost rather listen to MS :)

Also, is there more than one Manheim Steamroller??? Because they are playing 2 shows here in St. Louis on Dec 8th..... 4 and 8 pm. This is troubling!

I checked their website and it seems that there are 2 main Mannheim Steamroller versions for Christmas shows, The Red Tour and The Green Tour, as well as the Universal Studios Florida group. The USF group incorporates the songs and singers from the Grinch That Stole Christmas stage show performed at Islands of Adventure in December as part of Grinchmas. Chip Davis has appeared at USF the last few years. The USF show is usually about an hour long which may be shorter than the Red and Green tour shows.

I said the usually start at that time but you're right...the park is scheduled to close at 7pm on 12/8. They haven't released the concert times yet so I'm going by what they did last year.

woah!! more than one Mannheim group (ha ha) guess that explains why the group we saw last year didn't sound that great.. and yes the songs that they do incorporate the grinch characters and songs.
