Manhattan Terminal -- Baggage Drop

The last time we left from Manhattan on Carnival, it was only a 4-night cruise so we took our own luggage onboard. This time we want to check the luggage. I know you can drive through the parking and drop it off, but then you have to exit back onto the street to re-enter the parking lot.

Can you just park and walk your luggage on that level to a porter? Thanks.

That's what we did in 2012. We drove up to the parking lot, I dropped off my husband and our luggage near the elevator (there is room to do this and were directed to do it), I parked the car, and then we rode the elevator to the ground level porters to drop our bags.

To piggy back on this question, any idea how early we can drop our luggage at the NYC port? If we show up at 9:30 I know they wont let us in the terminal yet but will they take our luggage curb side?

We did tip the porters the same as we would a sky cap or PC porter.

Yes, we picked our port arrival time for 11:00-11:30, but we arrive around 10:30. I know you can park after 9:30 a.m. if there are spaces (depending on when the prior cruise passengers start leaving). Thanks for all the great info. The link you provided is very helpful!
