I am organizing a group get together near Times Square the 3rd weekend of May and need to find a restaurant for about 12 of us to eat where we can linger over coffee without being rushed out.

Some place without loud overhead music (like Hard Rock) or live music so that we can actually hear each other talk.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Honestly-

It's going to be so beautiful outside then, that you could go to the Starbuck's at the corner of 6th Ave and 42nd St.

Pick up your coffee and whatever, and walk across the street to Bryant Park. It's really nice there, and there's plenty of outdoor tables and chairs to put together and just watch the world go by.

DH and I do it when we go for our annual anniversary long weekend. This year we'll be there a week- and I KNOW that he'll want to go to HIS park in NYC!

Now that I think about it- caddy corner from the Starbuck's corner is a restaurant at the other end of the park (the park isn't THAT big), and they might be able to accommodate you.

You didn't say if you're doing this for lunch or dinner.... or breakfast?

It's just a thought though.

Thanks the Starbucks sounds great for an after dinner treat but we definitely need somewhere for dinner. :)

TGIFridays is on every other corner in Manhattan. There is one right next door to a McDonalds right near Times Square. It is 4-5 floors tall, with each floor having just a few tables.
We had lunch there last November and it was very convenient to Times Square.

Here you go, start here:

This is my personal fav. It's family style Italian. The platters feed 3-4 easily. You could order lots of dishes for everyone to share. You MUST try the homemade Sangria (red). It's out of this world.

If you like Thai, here is a good one I've eaten at:

If you're looking for something fast and inexpensive, this is a good choice. It's a "diner type":

I really liked a place called John's Pizzeria, 260 W. 44th Street. It's big and cavernous and echoes a lot.
