Thursday 25th December ‘08
After spending a fun Christmas Eve in our local Indian Restaurant followed by bowling with the girls, I was rudely awoken at 5am with Paul being very poorly
I got up around 8am, and everyone slept in while I DISed and tried to make some noise to wake them up
We had a rather weird Christmas Day
Once everyone eventually got up, we opened our presents, then took the Christmas tree and decorations down. I made dinner around 2pm and poor Paul couldn't even face eating some Cadbury’s chocolate never mind my lovely Crimbo dinner, and he spent most of the day sleeping on the sofa
After dinner I finished packing and made sure that everything would be ready so that I could settle down and watch Dr. Who at 6pm. We did on-line check in with Virgin and printed off our boarding cards. Once Dr. Who was finished, we piled into the car and picked Bex up and we were on our way to Manchester, and thankfully Paul was feeling well enough to drive
Our journey up to the Travelodge at Manchester Airport was uneventful and the roads were very quiet and we arrived around 8.30pm
Being Christmas Day, nowhere was open, so we just chilled in our rooms and had an early night

Thankfully, Paul was feeling a bit better this morning, so our plan of action for this morning was :-
8am – get up
9am – ring ‘Meet & Greet’ before heading to the airport
9.30am - leave the car with the ‘Meet & Greet’ and drop our luggage off, then head through to departures for some duty free shopping and breakfast
The check-in for the 10.25am flight hadn’t closed, so we had to wait at the side before we could drop our luggage off. As we waited for the early flight to close, a Virgin rep approached us and said that a family of 5 hadn’t turned up, and would we like to take the early flight. You bet we would
Before we knew it, we had new boarding cards and we were ‘fast tracked’ through security and after a 5 minute sit down at the gate, our seat numbers were called and we were onboard. It was so weird, we didn’t have time to do anything ~ It was brilliant
The flight was uneventful. The food was ok, you could have turkey dinner, beef casserole or vegetable pasta. I had the beef casserole and it was very nice (I’m one of those strange people who actually enjoys airplane food). We also had a choc ice later in the flight and also an egg & bacon roll before landing
I wasn’t impressed with the movies onboard. I watched The Dark Knight (too long), The Mummy 3 (not the same without Rachel Weisz) and Wall E (ok)
I took a couple of pics onboard, and then my camera packed up on me (drat)
Our flight took about 8 ½ hours and we landed around 2pm. We had no problems getting through Immigration and picking up our cases, our only problem was having to wait over ½ an hour for a minivan to arrive at Alamo (I think we’ll use Dollar next time)
Check-in at the Pop Century was quiet, so in no time we were given our room keys and heading to our rooms. We got two rooms next door to each other in the 80’s building
Once checked in, we emptied our suitcases and had dinner in the food court
It was great to keep reminding ourselves that we should still be over the Atlantic, and we were so lucky as the extra time gave us the chance to get some shopping done at Wal-Mart (the usual Mountain Dew, Lays Chips, water & Oreo’s and of course a new camera) and go to DownTown Disney to pick up our 14 night park tickets
We had an early night, and looked forward to an early start at the Magic Kingdom tomorrow
